This was the first spot I checked out on my recent visit to Seattle…read more I was already a fan of Beecher's, having gotten a frozen box of their "World's Best" Mac & Cheese from Costco and loving it. Not surprisingly, the Mac & Cheese straight from the source, served fresh and hot, was far superior to the frozen version. It was nothing fancy, but incredibly creamy, savory, and flavorful. While here, I also tried the Grilled Cheese sandwich, made with their Flagship and Just Jack cheeses. Put simply, it was gooey deliciousness. The bread, which was not buttered, had a nice crunch to it and allowed the cheeses to really stand out. The meal here was a perfect start to my culinary adventures at Pike Place Market.

Our last visit to Beecher's was in 2015, so I was curious to see what we'd think of it in 2026…read more The store is looking pretty hip these days, with a great display counter and plenty of cheeses to choose from. And considering the Pike Place location, I thought the takeaway menu was surprisingly reasonably priced. We got two large Mac & Cheeses. We'd also grabbed some takeaway from another Pike Place spot, and were glad we had--the "large" macs really aren't all that large. The mac and cheese was good, but honestly, if I went back, I think I'd skip it and grab a couple of their more interesting cheeses and some good bread instead. With that whole cheese counter sitting right there, that seems like the more exciting way to do Beecher's.

Key Points: - Iconic khachapuri "bread boats"…read more- minor drawback: limited coffee customization options and only forks available The Fam and I stopped by Skalka for some breakfast/brunch before perusing the rest of Seattle during my birthday week. I saw it on a few YouTube food influencer videos and was really impressed by what I saw. The their staple is their Georgian khachapuri. They're the iconic bread "boats" filled with cheese, butter, egg, and whatever comes along the variety you ordered. TBH, I actually thought they looked like little volcanoes, which is something I figured The Little One would enjoy. What we ordered: - Stroganoff: one of the popular items listed on the yelp page. The beef was rich, succulent and comforting, with a creamy, savory filling. The pickles added a bit of bright, tangy contrast to balance the richness. - Adjaruli, the classic version with cheese, butter, and egg. To me, this seemed like the plainest version, but I figured The little One would be more likely eat this because she hates anything that resembles a sauce or toppings. Both dishes were fantastic. The bread boat sort of reminded me of a pizza crust: crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfect for tearing off and dipping into the cheesy center. The Little one did especially like the crust since she's a big pizza-crust fan. Surprisingly, getting her to eat the cheese and egg was tougher, as she usually likes those. I guess that's just being a kid? Inconsistent fluctuations of opinions and likings? The Mrs. and I happily finished everything she left behind. The restaurant itself is a small, casual spot with self-service kiosks for ordering and open seating. Nothing fancy, but it's efficient. We also appreciated that they had high chairs available, making it easy to visit with a child. We did see other families with kids there too. My only gripes: - once you've submitted your kiosk order, making changes isn't really possible. The staff is so busy going in and out of the kitchen, that you really don't have any opportunity to flag them down. We actually wanted to make one minor change to our order, but by the time I managed to talk to someone about it, she informed me that the order was already being made. - If you order coffee, you need to decide on cream, half-and-half, and sugar ahead of time, seemingly preset amounts. It's entirely prepared in the kitchen, not self serve, and you can't exactly customize to your liking. - Only forks were available. No spoons, no knives. Knives would have been helpful for cutting through the thicker bread crust. Those are very minor complaints, though. The food was excellent, the concept is unique, and the meal was memorable. Won't dock any points off there.

It's pretty straightforward menu as they're specializing on Khachapuri, yes that iconic Georgian cheese bread, just featuring different kind of protein. We got the chicken one, which actually somewhat tasted like eating bolognaise sauce on the cheesy bread! Got the extra yolk, served perfectly runny.

We loved the interactivity that Chef Will fostered as well as the foods he shared with us. The grand finale was my husband getting to catch and toss a fish at the most famous part of the market. Our evening started with a tour of the market and we had a total blast tasting samples along the way. The special relationships she has built with so many of the businesses there made our tour extra special! Our group was small which made the cooking class so fun. We whipped up a fabulous meal in not time and everything tasted great! I appreciated her willingness to customize the menu based on my food preferences. We left feeling full and not just in our bellies but also in our hearts for the special evening we had!! Thank you Traci!

Chef Traci kicked off our morning class with freshly baked pastries as we discussed what we might want to cook that day. Then we headed into Pike Place Market, stopping at multiple businesses to meet the owners and try their delicious products. I've been to Pike Place many times, and there were a handful of shops I was experiencing for the first time. It really felt like we got VIP treatment because of the friendships Traci has built over the years. We picked out a beautiful King salmon and halibut cheeks at Pike Place Fish Market, and I even got to throw and catch a fish! Traci was knowledgeable and shared Pike Place Market's complex history along the way. Once we returned to Atrium Kitchen with our ingredients, we created two beautiful mains with the salmon and halibut, plus a couple of sides with the seasonal market vegetables we had picked up. Then it was time to dig in and enjoy our feast while chatting with Chef Traci and the other guests. There is something very special about being in Pike Place Market early in the morning before the throngs of tourists arrive. I highly recommend the morning tour and cooking class. It felt like a perfect way to experience Seattle's most famous attraction.

Ray was our server and he did a great job with his recommendations, even steering me away from something I wanted to try, warning me the dish tends to get the most complaints from guests. Additionally, we had quite a bit of food without that. We had melon salad, roasted califlower, and grilled angus sot bap. All had a good flavor palate with ingredients that worked nicely together. The space was nothing remarkable, the entrance didn't really mention Chan, but Spruce instead. Confusing, is it a rebrand or different name depending on the day or?? Look at the menu before you go and see if you consider it $$ or not, I don't have a good feel for that sort of thing as my restaurant outings are infrequent. This place is part of the "add 3% if using a CC" which kind of grinds my gears. H Mart back home in Honolulu is nearby but the parking situation isn't ideal in Kakaako. I decided to shop here while staying in a hotel in Downtown Seattle, luckily it was fully equipped with a kitchenette. It's a pretty well sized store, with a good amount of inventory. A few departments that drew my attention was the deli, and the alcohol aisle. I basically had a good 15 minutes to thoroughly scope out the entire store to get a feel of what they had on special, where everything was located, and how small and condensed it is inside, safe with a security guard keeping customers and store staff safe and secure.

For a city location, it is pretty decent as it has produce and hot foods. The size and selection does pale in comparison to the suburban locations like the Federal Way and Lynnwood stores. I prefer to shop at the other stores, but this is a convenient option if I need to pick up some Asian grocery items on the way home from work or visiting downtown.
