As an electrician for an electric utility part of my job is to maintain HVAC equipment for control buildings, but I am not an HVAC technician and don't know all of the ins and outs of the system. Changing failed capacitors or seized blower motors is no problem but recharging a system or repairing leaks I leave to experts with some mixed results. Now for the problem at my residence. I have a hydronic boiler that was "leaking" but I couldn't find the leak. Admittedly, I don't know a lot about boilers and boiler systems. I did a quick internet search for the boiler manufacturer to find some information about my boiler. It gave me ideas of where to look but ultimately led me to call for an expert near me. It led me to Prichard Brothers. I called and requested for service and since it wasn't an emergency and my boiler was still working, I made an appointment to have my boiler inspected. To start with, I received a call from the owner requesting more information about my "leaking" boiler and was asked a series of questions and for pictures. For me, this was a big deal! I showed me that they were genuinely interested in solving my problem and doing it efficiently! On my appointment day, I was greeted with a phone call letting me know that Dave and A.J. were on the way. They had everything they needed from tools to parts. They were fast, clean and efficient doing their work, while still being courteous and answering my questions and teaching me about the system. While heating issues and repair bills are not something a homeowner looks forward to, this experience was top notch! My 30 year old boiler is operating as it should without leaks or worry as the temperatures dip below zero! The repair bill was itemized and was in line with what I expected to receive. I have used Pritchard Brothers since 2006 for numerous projects on my home. I will call nobody else as they have fixed problems other P/H vendors stated could not be fixed and fixed problems caused by other P/H vendors. When I did an addition to my home not only were they the best value but the most involved even before I decided to go with them as they wanted to ensure they fully understood the project. My latest experience of 23 Feb proves that this company is an honest and sincere business. When my house was built the contractor drained the perimeter tile into our lift station so when we received large amounts of rain the lift station ran continuously and for anyone who has a septic system you know that is not good. I called Mike his crew showed up and in less than 4 hours I had the tile separated from the lift station and a new sump pit installed. I was amazed and about fell out of my chair when Mike called to inform me about the bill, it was much less than the estimate. Since moving to Boone, Iowa in 1998 I have Always called Pritchard Brothers Plumbing-Heating for all of my plumbing and heating needs. Mike has always been the biggest help with any problems I have had. My most recent problem was that I was in need of a new hot water heater. I called and Mike was willing to send a couple of guys the same day I called to get a new hot water heater installed in my home. Matt and I believe his name was Brian arrived and immediately started working to remove the old hot water heater and get the new one installed. Our 4-year-old, tankless water heater started leaking last week. After a very frustrating visit ($3000 estimate to replace it) from a local plumber, I called Pritchard Bros Plumbing-Heating for a second opinion. Mike Pritchard and his crew went above and beyond in helping me with this problem. He contacted the company, who made the leaking water heater, and found out it was under warranty. All said and done, he found a new replacement with an upgraded model, turned in the defective model, and replaced it with the new one. $300, out the door. He followed up with a phone call the next day to make sure everything was working properly. He then had a crew stop by to make sure there were no leaks. I bought a home which, according to disclosure, did not have water problems in the basement. When the heavy rains came this spring, I had water coming in all around the basement at the bottom of the walls at floor level. I contacted some dry basement companies but none of them wanted to find out what was causing the problem. My neighbors had not had water problems so I contacted Mike at Pritchard Bros. because they could insert a camera to see where the blockage was and what the solution might be. The outside perimeter drain tile had been blocked off and the excess water had no place to go. The solution was to remove the blockage and install a sump pump to remove the water. The work was done quickly, the area was cleaned up, and the cost was quite reasonable. I will definitely use them again. read more

They were and are easy to do business with. I like doing DIY repairs and the people at Prichard's have always been helpful with advice and parts needed, and when I have gotten in over my head (no matter the time of day) they have been there to save me. I called Pritchard Bros and talked to Mike about relocating a main drain pipe that drops from the upstairs bath down into my garage area. I demoed out the wall to extend my garage and the pipe was right in the road. Mike came out and gave me an estimate right away. The estimate was very competitive and reasonable. When I called to schedule them to come out and move the pipe, they offered to come that morning! This is un-heard of. They did an amazing job and knocked out the work by 1 PM. Mike even sent me a picture of the work and asked if I was satisfied... Couldn't ask for better quality work, friendly-ness and top notch customer service. We own a 6-year old (Installed by another dealer) Lennox furnace a/c with electric furnace backup (heat pump runs first until it's below 20 degrees). It's an odd furnace in this neighborhood, and so we were pleased when Pritchard Bros. said they would come and see what the problem was (it wasn't keeping up with heat even though it was over 20 degrees!). Service provider came promptly and reviewed everything and determined it's problems and came back with the parts two days later and repaired it. Also the service provider adjusted a couple of other things and verified the rest of the system was in working order, also. Last Friday morning, June 15th, we discovered that our air condition was not keeping the house cool. The fan had ran all night. It was going to be close to 100 degrees that day. We called that morning and they had Mitch out here by 9:30. We were glad it was just a 5 amp fuse that had to be replaced in the unit.
