While my situation was not as complex as theirs I still found her help and advice to be great! My main reason for coming to Worth Winning was because I didn't fully understand how my retirement plan worked, and I also didn't know if I should be saving more for retirement, and if so, how much. Lauryn answered all of my questions (sometimes more than once) and was always pleasant in doing so. At our first meeting Lauryn explained the two different plans she offers. The first is more involved and the client pays a monthly rate based on client income for a 60 minute meeting occurring on a monthly basis. The second option is two meetings a year presumably best suited for someone who doesn't need as much hand holding. In between meetings Lauryn will email back and forth if the client finds there's questions or assistance he/she needs with the task/recommendations Lauryn's given. While I found myself in the middle, I chose option one. **Here's what really stood out to me about Worth Winning** Lauryn recognized that after four meetings I was at the point where I didn't need to meet with her on such a consistent basis, so she told me if I felt comfortable moving towards ad-hoc meeting I was in a good place in my financial plan to do so. She could have certainly dragged out the meetings to get the money, but I appreciated her honesty. It's for this reason I'm giving Lauryn and Worth Winning five starts.

At one point, she scheduled an in-person meeting in Dallas even though we live in Houston, apparently expecting us to make a roughly four-hour drive for a meeting. The lack of communication, organization, and follow-through has cost us both time and money. If you want to waste your time and money while dealing with one headache after another, she's the CPA for you. Based on our experience, I'm genuinely surprised she still has clients. I knew I needed help with my taxes this year. I'd moved, I'd had a regular job, but also a contract…read morejob - basically, I had no idea what I was doing when it came time to file. I'd researched some places on Yelp and called several "real" accountant firms, including the one that says they'll give you a free consultation, but they couldn't help me file my return on time ...or in one case, even bother return my call. They said they'd help me file an extension, but it was MARCH, yes, kind of late in the game, but early March and I still had over a month before taxes were due. I'd held off on calling Ameritax because I'd used places like H&R Block before and they were crazy expensive and you got charged for filing federal and then for state and then for filling in the interest you paid on your student loans and I didn't want to get gouged at a chain again. Finally I called just because I knew I needed help and they did have a good review, so I was hopeful that it would work out. Kevin did return my call and in a timely manner and we scheduled an appointment. They're even open on Saturdays, so it made it easy to find time. Kevin was great and very helpful. He didn't balk at the fact that I'd had several W2s with me plus a 1099 contract form. He didn't bat an eye at filing an out of state return. He also helped me write off moving expenses with relevant questions and student loan interest without any superficial charge. In addition, he was very fast and I was extremely happy with the results. I was afraid with the contract work, that I'd end up owing money this year, but it turns out that this wasn't the case. When all was said and done, I got a good return and I owed Ameritax no more than I expected to pay, although my service ran about twice as much as the normal tax prep cost because of the 1099. I told Kevin about the other tax places being unable to help me file on time and he couldn't believe it, which is funny, because I couldn't either. I'm glad that they were, though because I'm very happy with Kevin and Ameritax and with the level of service he provided. He's got one very loyal customer in the years to come.

Our goal was to find an accounting firm in Dallas that understood our growth mindset and was entrepreneur-friendly. We wanted help with tax preparation and to make sure we were bookkeeping with best practices. It took months and countless unanswered emails to get anywhere with Kelly CPA accountants after the first in person meeting. Our intake form and answers provided were even lost by their office at one point. After calling and being blatantly ignored multiple times by the accountant their first assigned us, they finally assigned a new accountant a few weeks before the deadline to file. I asked multiple times over email and calls to meet in person to review our information since the firm lost our data. He ignored my requests for the in person meeting just like the previous accountant who was assigned. I have major issues with the way they bill. Part of it is my fault - make sure if you use them to get their fees agreed to in writing. They claim they discussed this in person at our first meeting, but we don't have this written down nor do we remember for sure if it was agreed to many months ago. They don't include pricing in the engagement letter, which makes no sense to me. A simple google search shows this business charges 2-3x the average market price for tax returns - definitely worth knowing before signing an engagement letter. Finally, after requesting a sit-down with their bookkeepers to review best practices and being ignored on that, it was clear they weren't a firm that truly cares about supporting small businesses. They have done a great job with their marketing and the millennial friendly office space - but these things definitely duped me.

When it came time to file for our LLC, I took one look at the paperwork and effort involved and decided that if I wanted to keep what's left of my hair, I needed to have someone do it for me. I contacted Zachary Monday morning at 10:15 and in less than 2 hours, he emailed me confirming that he had sent my paperwork off to be filed. Today (Tuesday) at 4 pm he emailed saying that everything was set and my company is official. I'm still amazed at how quickly this happened.
