Whatever questions we have they patiently field and answer with good advice and we always appreciate their guidance. We had a personal business as well as our W-2 jobs and their help made all the filings very simple. They demonstrate lots of experience with any curveballs we have thrown their way. Their processes allow you to securely upload tax documents at your convenience and then one is able to easily handle tax return prepping usually by email or Zoom conferencing as needed. I would recommend them to anyone who needs some help with their taxes or business tax questions.

We've been going to this CPA for a few years now (never worked with Joe directly but have worked…read morewith many others), and each year I'm less and less impressed, so this past year will be our last with them. Communication has gone downhill. Asking for clarification and getting zero back, or truly waiting a month for a response. Asking for advice on taxes and getting no advice back, while owing more and more in taxes each year with still no advice from them. I've been paying them for what I can do on my own with the automated version of TurboTax. A bummer since our friend referred us, but may be they were better many years ago.

I knew I needed help with my taxes this year. I'd moved, I'd had a regular job, but also a contract…read morejob - basically, I had no idea what I was doing when it came time to file. I'd researched some places on Yelp and called several "real" accountant firms, including the one that says they'll give you a free consultation, but they couldn't help me file my return on time ...or in one case, even bother return my call. They said they'd help me file an extension, but it was MARCH, yes, kind of late in the game, but early March and I still had over a month before taxes were due. I'd held off on calling Ameritax because I'd used places like H&R Block before and they were crazy expensive and you got charged for filing federal and then for state and then for filling in the interest you paid on your student loans and I didn't want to get gouged at a chain again. Finally I called just because I knew I needed help and they did have a good review, so I was hopeful that it would work out. Kevin did return my call and in a timely manner and we scheduled an appointment. They're even open on Saturdays, so it made it easy to find time. Kevin was great and very helpful. He didn't balk at the fact that I'd had several W2s with me plus a 1099 contract form. He didn't bat an eye at filing an out of state return. He also helped me write off moving expenses with relevant questions and student loan interest without any superficial charge. In addition, he was very fast and I was extremely happy with the results. I was afraid with the contract work, that I'd end up owing money this year, but it turns out that this wasn't the case. When all was said and done, I got a good return and I owed Ameritax no more than I expected to pay, although my service ran about twice as much as the normal tax prep cost because of the 1099. I told Kevin about the other tax places being unable to help me file on time and he couldn't believe it, which is funny, because I couldn't either. I'm glad that they were, though because I'm very happy with Kevin and Ameritax and with the level of service he provided. He's got one very loyal customer in the years to come.

If you are looking for a partner to help with your accounting needs, this is not the place. When reached out to J Chester & Associates I explained to the firm manager, David Perez, exactly what I was looking for in an accountant. He was happy to take my money, have me fill out a form, then pass me along to others within the firm. I repeatedly requested a phone call with an accountant and was ignored completely. Next thing I know my taxes were filed, without ever speaking to me directly about any deductions I may be entitled to, my small business or any other personal information that may be pertinent. Don't believe the positive reviews about this firm, I sure wish I hadn't.
