Proceed with Caution: My Experience with Ron Mussett I initially worked with Ron to set up my LLC taxed as an S-corp. He was helpful during the initial process, but unfortunately, the execution was flawed. He made repeated administrative errors, such as filing paperwork incorrectly, missing deadlines, and even misspelling my name and my company's name multiple times. While I initially overlooked these mistakes, things only worsened over time. One of my biggest concerns was Ron's reluctance to answer questions beyond quarterly payroll tax filings. I often felt like an annoyance rather than a valued client. More critically, he failed to inform me that I wasn't making estimated personal income tax payments, which led to a substantial tax bill for 2024--complete with penalties. Based on my experience with him, I expect he would say this wasn't his responsibility, but better communication could have prevented the issue. Additionally, his tax planning knowledge was not the right fit. For instance, he was unfamiliar with Solo 401(k) plans and only recommended SEP IRAs, which didn't align with my financial strategy. He also would push back against strategies like structuring payroll for my spouse, paying her the max required for a 401(k) contribution, and "netting out." Beyond these shortcomings, his overall responsiveness was mediocre to poor--not just during tax season but consistently throughout the year. He was only reachable via email and rarely by phone, making it difficult to get timely responses. To be fair, Ron is very affordable compared to other CPAs. At the time, I was paying a fraction of what I pay now. However, I've come to realize that paying three times as much for my new CPA is well worth it--because at least now, I don't have IRS penalties, unexpected tax bills, or unanswered questions. My new CPA is available via phone and Zoom, open to one-on-one consultations, and takes the time to ensure I understand my tax strategy. If you're looking for a CPA who provides proactive guidance, strategic tax planning, and clear explanations, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Just as we expect doctors to have bedside manner, I believe a CPA should show a level of respect and care for their clients. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I often felt disregarded, and the lack of communication left me with IRS penalty letters, an unexpected tax bill, and a new CPA who is now cleaning up the mess. Ultimately, I take responsibility for not holding Ron accountable sooner. However, if you choose to work with him, be prepared to take a very hands-on approach and ensure you fully understand what he is offering. I've since found a CPA who is a much better fit--someone who takes the time to explain tax-saving strategies, aligns with my long-term financial goals, and ensures I won't be blindsided by another massive tax bill in 2025. read more

After reading the reviews I requested an appt and received a call from who I believe is Ron. The reviews spoke so highly of him and I really needed help his year. He called and I explained my wife's and I situation and advised him that I would need guidance. I can't recommend Crescere Group. While Ron did our tax prep, the amount that he landed on that we owed seemed a bit off to previous years. In years past, I had used a different accountant, but that accountant is out of state so I opted to use Ron as it was just easier logistically. I ran Ron's numbers by my other accountant (just to be sure) and he found a few small errors, fixed them, and I opted to file through my original accountant. When Ron preps your taxes, you're given paper work for you and your spouse to sign (assuming you're filing jointly and one of you is not present). Without those signatures, he cannot submit the eFile (legally). Ron had originally sent me home with this paper work for myself and my wife to sign. This way my wife could review the filing as well. In the end, Ron filed our taxes WITHOUT my spouses' and I's signature consenting to the filing. I guess he just assumed we were going to sign that but, we didn't. We opted to use our original accountant. This created a very complicated and irritating problem. My original accountant went to file and the eFiling was rejected. That's when I learned Ron had already filed my taxes without me or my wife's authorization signatures. We had to file a 1040X to amend the return. Now I'm getting letters from the IRS asking for the differential between the 1040X and the incorrect tax amount filed from Ron's work while the 1040X is still processing. So, I now have to pay the IRS the differential and wait for a refund. The amount of hours I've had to invest into this whole thing has been in the double digits, which is weird given you're paying a few hundred dollars for someone else to do this work for you. I don't like writing reviews like this but, this seemed pretty extreme so, I had to post it. In the end, this cost me a few hundred dollars, floating a differential to the IRS (and waiting to be refunded it), and a ton of my time. It'd be nice to get refunded for all this. If they do, I'll update my review accordingly. read more

Ron is a competent CPA but has terrible customer service skills. If you use him make sure you get a written completion date or you will be in for a wild ride. He takes on more business than his staff can handle. He does not answer phone calls or respond to emails. If you don't constantly check on him, you may end up with a late tax return.
