Very tall closet space
Jessica D.

Had a pretty rough experience in a swealtering hot room with extremely loud street noise causing no sleep and choosing to cancel our second night stay. The room is a good size with lots of closet space, nice bathroom with basic amenities and tub shower. Had a partial palace view from the window, but beware of nonstop street noise very loud all day and through the night. The bed was firm and pillows very soft, but overall comfortable and quality bedding. The room was advertised as having air conditioning, but after hours of trying to get it to work we asked the front desk for help why it kept getting hotter despite having it turned to cold, and they said only circulation is available and the heater is always on, and to just open the window for circulation and cool down the room... When we contacted our booking agent a couple hours later after still uncomfortable and unable to sleep, she spoke to them and told her they turned off the air access except in the summer months. Around 4am and no sleep between noise and hot room, husband again went to front desk and got a different clerk to come up to the room and was able to reset it said it. Some mild air flowed in for a while, but around 6am the heater turned back on full blast. I understand people in Spain stay bundled up like it's winter in Norway even when it's 65° out.. but when paying 170€ per night you should be able to receive a comfortable room and some sleep. Kudos to Hotels.com for doing their best to make it right and getting us a cancellation for the next night.

A partial Palace view

One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. We booked this based on location to the train station and the palace. The hotel has good reviews and looked good. The list of amenities was promising as well. We checked in without incident and the room was nice, but warm. We attempted to turn on the Air Conditioning but it didn't work so we called the front desk and opened a window. They said they world fix it while we were out. We returned at about 10pm to a stifling hot room, turns out their climate control only would turn on the heater. So we opened the window and went to the front desk to ask to fix it. The two people at the front desk were exceptionally rude and told us there is no A/C to which we showed them our booking which clearly stated A/C in the room twice. They laughed and told us to open the window, mind you this is on a very busy and loud street. We attempted it, but didn't work. Went down to the front desk again at 2am and the gentleman with glasses was very friendly and helpful, he did everything he could to get the A/C to work but couldn't. Thankfully he managed to disable the heat for a couple hours though. If you are someone who like a room below 70F and or having airflow when you sleep, avoid this place. The night staff was very rude and shouldn't be in customer service. The two staff with glasses who helped us were quite nice though and helped refund us our night after receiving little to no sleep.

Okay minus one for the extremely slow moving elevators but the room was really nice, service was excellent, and the breakfast was chefs kiss! The room was decked out in a beautiful gold with a sofa, table, and spacious bed. Amenities included WiFi, complimentary shoe cleaning, and glass bottles of water daily. The outside view was nice (top of the palace or something), bathroom was spacious with complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion. There is a coffee machine in the room as well as a small fridge with drinks and snacks priced per item. They had 2 robes in the room, velvet clothing hangers, and the softest room slippers. They have an awesome breakfast buffet, which cost 45 euros each day or about 30 euros if you pay for all days of your stay. The breakfast although stayed the same every day, were all healthy and fresh ingredients from creamy scrambled eggs, thinly sliced jamon and Manchego cheese, to fresh fruits, fresh juices, buttery croissants, fresh honey comb, pancakes, churros, and make your own omelet station. Also right across the street is the famous Prado Museum and The Cooking Clubhouse cooking class. Their service was excellent helping me load-in and load-out my luggage and there's even an indoor lounge and bar. Would come back 10/10, Salud!! :))

I had to send my luggage down the elevator and I had to chase it down the steps. AC works great in the room and it's very quiet despite being so close to a major street in the city. The buffet feels a bit short on variety and it's much better to head out into the city to find a place for breakfast, they have an amazing Espresso Machine in the lobby that was my daily for caffeine (about 1 Euro) but worth every Euro! Water is also for sale in the lobby, ask for EU Plug adapters in as the provide free of charge to borrow when I went on my trip.

Double room with two comfortable twin beds and bathroom. The room faced the Calle de Anocha side. Very little car traffic on this small street. Small TV, but who's in Madrid to watch TV anyway? In room safe. Heavy curtains that kept out all the morning light. The hotel is on the southeast corner of the Plaza Santa Cruz. This plaza is nice and quiet. A couple restaurants, hostales, a bank, and a government building anchor this small square. Makes for a relatively quiet evening. Located 1 block from Plaza Mayor, 2 blocks from Puerta del Sol, and maybe a 15 min walk to El Prado. Its really got a great central location. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Free-wifi too. Sometimes it wouldnt work so great in our room, but there was a little couch area outside our room where it would work just fine on those occasions.

Extremely happy with this hotel!!…read more Fair to say that there are better hotels, but for which you have to pay more money. Which is exactly the reason why this place gets my 4 stars. For the money that you pay in the location it is, you can't wish for more. Very tempted to actually give this place 5 stars ... Where's that 1/2 star when you need it? ;) The location for this little gem can't get any better, located right in the heart of Madrid's tapas district: La Latina. The reception is located together with the bar, which may be a little confusing for some, but the service is so welcoming and friendly, that it poses absolutely no problems. You are not only welcomed with a smile, but a welcome drink, which is exactly what you need/want when you just arrive somewhere. The bar is also welcoming and well furnished with a homely feeling The room wasn't massive, but furnished with very modern and chic decor giving it a very funky upmarket feeling. The bathroom was also very modernly decked out. More space was given to the bathroom than around the bed, which I appreciated. The shower was also a walk in jobby, not one of these bath/shower combos which I have no time for (having no kids mind you). We had a room with balcony facing the street which was just perfect. Fair to say that come morning there was a fair bit of noise with rubbish trucks and the like waking us up, but to me this only added to the charm of the place. Experiencing the hustle and bustle of a city is exactly the reason I travel to such place .... Others I'm sure would not agree. Very nicely furnished (rooms, bar, restaurant etc.), sweet location, friendly service. What more could you want? Highly recommended!!

The hotel is right on the popular Cava Baja road, where there is no shortage of tapas restaurants and boisterous, young night lifers spilling out of bars and restaurants and into the street from sundown to well in the morning. The hotel's own entire first floor is a restaurant, with an open-roof courtyard of tables. This sounds nice but presents a problem as the rooms surround this courtyard on the above floors. The noise wasn't *horrible* but it was definitely noticeable - talking, chatting, clinking, laughing - until midnight or so. The rooms are small but with good use of space. My sister and I shared a room, and the lack of mirror of any kind outside the bathroom made it hard for two of us to get ready at once. Also, the bathroom is a sliding glass door with frosted glass, so I don't recommend this for non-couple sharers or those who don't know each other really well. The breakfast buffet was €12, which seemed a bit steep for a breakfast, but the fresh juice and croissants looked tasty. The location was excellent -- we could walk to Mercado San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, Sabatini Gardens, and walking to Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia was do-able if you wished.
