The Princess Beach Conservation Area is a lovely parcel of land that includes a beach on fresh water Scrago Lake and pleasant trails that branch off into the woods in all directions. Most of the trees are pines so the hiking is very soft because of the pine needles, and the smell of the pine trees and ocean mixing together is wonderful.
Scrago Lake is a whole lot warmer than the always cold as @#$% direct ocean beaches of Cape Cod Bay and usually much, much calmer. A nice place to bring the family and little kids when you don't want them to drown, get washed out to sea, or get eaten by giant kraken.
There is a fee for parking cars during the summer but if you happen to know someone in the area they'll probably have a sticker and you can bum a ride with them. There is no charge if you bike or walk and in the off season you can park anywhere you want.
A lovely and peaceful little area that is a very pleasant place to explore, take a short and easy hike or perhaps do some swimming. A great place to spend some time and energy no matter what the season. read more
