Lakes hills and…read moretrails The Princess Beach Conservation Area is a lovely parcel of land that includes a beach on fresh water Scrago Lake and pleasant trails that branch off into the woods in all directions. Most of the trees are pines so the hiking is very soft because of the pine needles, and the smell of the pine trees and ocean mixing together is wonderful. Scrago Lake is a whole lot warmer than the always cold as @#$% direct ocean beaches of Cape Cod Bay and usually much, much calmer. A nice place to bring the family and little kids when you don't want them to drown, get washed out to sea, or get eaten by giant kraken. There is a fee for parking cars during the summer but if you happen to know someone in the area they'll probably have a sticker and you can bum a ride with them. There is no charge if you bike or walk and in the off season you can park anywhere you want. A lovely and peaceful little area that is a very pleasant place to explore, take a short and easy hike or perhaps do some swimming. A great place to spend some time and energy no matter what the season.

The paved walk was in and out leading to the marsh we could see the ocean in the distance and had hoped it would take us out to it, but it does not. We met two people walking their dogs who told us about the longer second trail in the woods. So we walked back to the windmill, took the side road back until we found the green trail markers. Well marked trail that made a loop connecting with the paved trail. Another nice little walk. There are several picnic tables scattered around, a restroom, playground area, gazebo and large open field that could be used for tossing a ball or frisbee.

It's a wonderful view to take in while on the Cape. Also, for the kids, there is a playground. Be careful of the bees on the grass, especially at the windmill. The parking lot is interesting, where instead you'll just pull over, with the expectation of hindicap. Great and peaceful spot.

Most of the trail there isn't a ton to see, but there are some cool areas (views of the water, golf courses, etc.). A few tables are available but with no shade. You are also next to a dog park, hiking trails, basketball courts, baseball fields, and tennis courts. There is something for the entire family. We travel to the cape every year and i'm so thankful we came across this spot during our annual visit this summer. We spent almost 4 hours here. Bring a packed lunch, a dry set of clothes for the kiddos and a book to read while your kids live their best lives. Also, a lot of the local moms frequent here often and they were very friendly! Wow! What an…read moreadorable Audubon location. We visited during the rain so we didn't see as much of the trails as we would have normally - but still had fun with what we did see. We had 3 generations visiting - my husband and me, our 4 year old daughter, and Grandparents. The Discovery Center just opened so their isn't much there yet - but the friendly staffer more than made up for that. The staffer took time to show exhibits to my daughter and show the grandparents their interactive bird call computer. Made the museum part feel so much more welcoming. Thank you!!! We also stopped by the wooden playground and took a lap around the pond. We'll definitely return in dry weather. We saw some goats hanging out under a tent to escape the rain too. They're cute.
