Cute hidden gem my friends and I stumbled upon. While lovely, quiet and relaxing, the chairs and seating weren't very conducive to comfort or studying, but definitely a cafe worth checking out! read more

Had good coffee tea and muffin and enjoyed the nvironment... not sure how well it is managed tho... they ran out of milk and proper sized cups for the tea.... will defn try a few more times to see if it improves read more

Winter update: turns out the hot coffee (i.e. "coffee") is excellent too (see my previous review, if you care.)A cut above most of the coffee joints in the area, with the potential exception of Luv Tea (although that takes 5 minutes to get a cup.) I just wish they'd get some better pastries and muffins, though. read more

What more can you ask for in a coffee - the service can be a little slow if its busy - but its a CAFE not a Starbucks. Free WiFi!! read more

I was strolling around in the neighborhood and found this gem out of nowhere! a bit hard find as the cafe is basement level but so glad I did! if there is anything that I'm picky on, it is coffee. And Primrose Cafe certainly does not disappoint. I ordered a vanilla latte and wished I lived in the area so I can pick this up every morning. My latte had a sweet caramelizing aftertaste...and for awhile I didn't want to consume my avocado toast until that fragrant aftertaste has been fully spent. If I wasn't already on my 2nd coffee for the day, I would order another. The interior itself is adorable, great for kids and super friendly staff. I would definitely come back when I'm in the neighborhood and especially during the summer time as there's a spectacular outdoor patio area. read more

First and hopefully only yelp review... I have been in and out of this place since they opened, as it is very close to me, and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. I'm writing this in hopes to discourage anyone else from waisting their money in this establishment, go to Annex on Fultonit is a bit of a walk but so much better! The last time I went to Primrose i got to the door with my latte which was SO HOT, that when i spilled a tiny bit on my wrist I got a horrible burn that didn't heal for over a week. When I went back to inform them that perhaps they shouldn't make the coffee so hot, they didn't seem at all bothered :( Not my neighborhood coffee shop, the service is terrible, they have no community vibe, don't waist your time and money! read more

I would definitely disagree with the previous reviewer. I adore Primrose and it is my go to morning spot. The mocha's in particular are my huge weakness(homemade chocolate, hello yum!). The girl at the counter( with the red hair who the previous reviewer appeared to be less then taken with) is always so charming and nice, and knows my order the second I walk through the door and does not hesitate to have pleasant conversation with me. Without a doubt Primrose is a must have in Fort Greene! read more

I've been on and off in NYC for the past few months. My boyfriend who lives literally a minute away introduced me to this place, and it never failed to deliver me great coffee, good food, and a good laugh from time to time. There's nothing else to say. Till next time! read more

This place is super cute and I really enjoyed my almond latte and the chai I tried. There are plenty of seats and they have two outdoor spaces. One in the front, one in the back. The baristas were nice. It has a lived in feel. There is also free interest! There is a large food menu but I can't speak to it. $7 credit card minimum but one time I didn't have cash and they didn't give me a hard time. My only complaint is they are a little slow. read more

Cozy spot with yummy food. Good spot to do some work or study. Nice yard during warm weather (or cold if that's your thing). As a matter of fact I think I'm headed there today for some breakfast. Free internet and pleasant employees. read more

Primrose is a great addition to Greene Ave. It is a good place to meet up with a friend for some great coffee and delicious pastries (haven't yet tried the sandwiches, but they look amazing) or a place to go and get work done. The owners/staff have been so nice and informative. The atmosphere is definitely still a work in process, as it only opened a little while ago, but what is there is very inviting and it has amazing potential to be a very special place, especially when then garden opens in the back. i highly recommend going to support this neighborhood gem. And did I mention how good the coffee is ...the coffee is really really good. read more

Despite the awful reviews that I read came here with my friend because we wanted to check out Brooklyn flea and this was the closest coffeeshop. The backyard was actually very nice and they are okay sitting space. The cold brew was pretty good. They are ants hanging out around the sitting area in the backyard and I got bitten which make the experience quite memorable. Worth checking out though don't know if I would come back read more

It's a cute space that is 1 block from my apartment with a great patio to work on. The croissants are delicious. But other than that it is slightly pricy for what you get and when I was there with my boyfriend ordering breakfast we waited over 30 min for a parfait and ham/cheese croissant. It's also way too crowded in the front area. read more

I feel like I annoyed the owner (who I didn't realize was the owner) with my existence when I offered to plug in in her charger... Same with the staff when I was inquiring about the menu. read more

Another neighborhood fav. We only get the lattes - either iced or hot, and they are on point. We always get it to go. It's a little to crowded for my liking but the backyard is really comfortable. I can't say much for the food as we've never ordered any. It's a weekend staple for us. read more

This review is for the food. Staff here are generally super friendly and the coffee is typically good. But $10 for 1 slice of toast and maybe 1/4 of an avocado?! I used to come here for their salami bites (salami, cornichons, butter and swiss on a really nice baguette). After having not visited in a long while, I tried ordering that same simple but delicious sandwich I fell in love with when primrose first opened and was served a deli roll and processed cheese and at an increased price. Huh?! At one point they started serving wine and beer but stopped because, as one employee put it, they "forgot to renew their license". Again, huh? I'm so confused. Something's obviously off. New management, maybe? Either way, it's a bummer. I'll still come back for my morning coffee though. read more

Not sure why this place has only 3 stars. Charming atmosphere in the bottom of a brownstone, lots of seating indoors and out. I had the brie and pear grilled cheese and it was great. People working there were friendly to me! read more

The drinks here are fantastic. Great spot to brunch, the food is really fresh, really really good and not at all over priced. This is one of my favorite spots in NYC. read more

A lovely place, good coffee, food and service. Prices aren't too too bad. I go there to work pretty often, but their wifi is pretty awful. The furniture is also not very good, and I'm always nervous that my table will take my laptop and coffee with it to the floor. Still a nice chill place. They even have gluten free bread for the allergic among us. read more

HANDS DOWN! The best latte I have ever slurped down! It was rich, creamy and full of flavor. No bitter after taste, No scorching hot temp. Just wonderful and delicious latte goodness!! I will be back!! Yes! read more

One word: quaint! This place is so cute. It's very small but that's a good thing because it gives a quiet atmosphere. The iced coffee I had was alright, but I would be interested in trying their other items sometime. They have a nice outdoor seating area that I want to take advantage of before winter. read more

It's not worth it. Yeah the food and coffee are good and the place is nice, but it's not worth the price you pay, in dollars and in hours standing in line. If you do have to go (Because it's so damn cute!) Avoid around 4:00 when the line is long, space is crammed, and there 10 kids running around at your feet. The baristas will be taking their sweet time, and your food will take 30 minutes to get to you. read more

I've been to Primrose a number of times now and felt compelled to write a review. I really wanted to like this place because the space is lovely and it's right near my apartment. However I think there are a number of problems with the service & set up. Re: food. The last time I was here, they were out of everything-- bread, avocado, bagels, etc. This time they had all the ingredients so I was hopeful it would be a smoother experience. I ordered the TLV breakfast, which comes with eggs, toast, and a choice of other things (avocado, cheese, ham, or jam). The person who took my order didn't ask what I wanted on the plate. When it came out with ham and cheese (the 2 options I did not want, to be honest), I asked for the avocado instead. The busboy who brought the avocado for me was pretty nice about it but then informed me that unless the customer specifies otherwise, they'll bring you the ham and cheese for this plate. Why not ask the customer what they want when they order, instead of making that assumption? It didn't make any sense to me and I think in general reflects the lack of interest in the customer's experience here. Re: the wifi. You can ask for a code in order to connect (for 2 hours on weekdays or 1 hour on weekends) and they hand you a little slip of paper with a code on it. Mine didn't work; nor did the girl who was working next to me. I think it's very stingy to allow only 1 hour of wifi access in the first place, but if you're going to do that, it should be working. Overall I think this would be a fine place to get a coffee (not food) and talk with someone but I wouldn't frequent it for other purposes. Next time I plan to work on my laptop and get breakfast on a weekend I'll probably walk the extra 20 minutes to Stonefruit in BedStuy. read more

The antithesis of the snide hipster-managed cafe. Warm decor, inviting baristas, a wide variety of drinks and eats, and it's only a couple weeks old. Perfect now, but somehow I feel like it's only going to get better. read more

I generally just get a regular cappuccino when I get coffee from a shop. The cappuccinos here are DELICIOUS. SO happy they moved in so close! I'm a teacher, and plan on spending many a summer day in this (temperately cool?) coffee shop. read more

I have been coming to Primrose since it opened. I really love the location (around the corner from my apt) and near the bus stop! The cafe itself is very unique, being in a brownstone and all. I really like the selection, but unfortunately they seem to run out of items by lunch. This makes me sad because there are sandwiches and such that I would order more regularly if the stock of bread or bagels were there. :( Recently I have noticed that there are some new employees, which is good. There have been some real grumpy people working there in the past. There is a guy who is a cook there who draws on the cups, he is always very friendly, pleasant and accommodating (and handsome). Not to mention his terrific art! He is a joy to see when I come in for my morning coffee and breakfast. This place is improving. read more

The people who run this cafe are horrible!!..they are nasty, snotty, lazy and unhappy. After my rude, eye-rolling barista today..I will never go back. Avoid this place. read more

Happy to discover this gem of a coffee shop. My wife and I had perfectly brewed lattes. Best I have had in Brooklyn and among the best ever. Even better that the coffee, which was incredible, was the amazing service. Warm friendly with smiles all around. It is also a delightful space. read more

Cold, fresh home made mint lemonade. You need not say anything else. I haven't tried anything else that there is to offer at the primrose cafe...do you know why? BECAUSE I DON'T NEED TO. In terms of thirst quenching deliciousness, this mint lemonade cannot be beaten. As an Australian, I understand the importance of refreshment, what I don't understand is WHY IS THE PRIMROSE CAFE NOT IN SYDNEY?!? read more

Primrose is hard to spot if you don' t know what you're looking for, but once found it has all the charm of a secret neighborhood gem that fits like a glove into the neighborhood. Delicious coffee, an inviting, intimate space that's perfect for studying, reading, or quality conversation, and above all a fabulous staff committed to being a community space and producing quality goods and interactions. Yes to the espresso, yes to the coffee and yes (as already pointed out), yes to the ice cubes. Seriously, details matter! So happy it's so close! The summer patio out front is charming but I think this place will be über cozy in winter. read more

Super cute! Counter person is sweet. Definitely coming back. However, there is a woman there that I will assume is the manager or owner and she just looks miserable. I don't think I would like it if I had to deal with her often. Her energy is funky. read more

Wonderful place! Can get a bit overwhelming during the after-school rush hour with parents and their young kids. Usually dies down after an hour or so and returns to normal. read more

cute garden level brownstone cafe. its like having having someone make you the perfect coffee in your living room. Nicest staff and the best coffee in the neighborhood for sure. and the chocolate brioche is like chocolate pudding in a salty roll! delish! needs a few more chairs/tables and i can't wait for the backyard to open. but its an awesome start to what is sure to become a neighborhood institution. read more

If I can give negative stars I would. I would usually take an extra 10 minute walk and go to a different establishment for my coffee and bagel needs. But hey, I was thinking this place looks cute and Its only 1.5 blocks away from me so why not. Big mistake! Went in for a toasted bagel and guess what, it took them a whole 13 minutes!! And my bagel was not cut when he put it in the toaster. Asked the barista to cut my bagel and he just used his hand that he was doing whatever with and cut the bagel with his bared hands. Come on!! You're in food service, don't do that when your customers can see it. And the most of it, it cost me 3 smacking dollars for that damn bagel. read more

Please fix your neighbour's rat problem!! I love eating here but it is really off putting to leave and walk past a dead rat right outside the door. I know it's not your guys fault but unfortunately you may have to sweep them up if you want your regulars like me to keep coming back! read more

I used to live in the neighborhood and would often work in Primrose right after it opened a few years ago. Recently decided to stop back in for a bite to eat in a Saturday -- was told there was no more food as sandwich service stopped at 4:45 (it was 4:49) and they had "already started putting the bread away." Recent reviews are sadly correct! Won't be coming back. read more

The woman and the guy at the counter were super nice and polite but the owner seems sort of nasty aloof, not welcoming at all. You would think as the owner, she would be the nice, polite one.... Perhaps she was having a bad day... i like to give people the benefit of the doubt BUT ALSO there are quite a few coffee shops in the neighborhood to frequent, so no biggie, never have to step in there again...I love options! read more

The staff behind the counter are incredibly snobby and rude. As cute as it is inside, the people who work in there (other than the actual chefs) are atrocious. I live UPSTAIRS and every single time I have come inside I have never been greeted kindly. I once ordered the Nova Scotia bagel and received a $11.75 bagel with two microscopic pieces of fish. They don't "do" pick up either, even if you are a regular customer for the past 7 months...and the wait time for ANY food order at ANY TIME weekday or weekend takes an average of 15 minutes. (THATS A LONG TIME for a bagel with cream cheese). The staff look miserable, always frowning, never in a good mood. I have a photo of the salmon bagel if anyone is interested please message me. The place inside is sweet but they forbid laptops on weekends 8-4pm...what kind of café is this!? To top it off I've overheard the of their staff brag several times about how much she enjoys firing people....it is sick and overpriced. read more

The convenience of the location is a big plus. However, they seem to be constantly training a new person behind the register and there are plenty of days when the wifi connection is just out. There are a few other options in the hood with better pricing if you are willing to walk a couple more blocks. read more

I really like how the seating has evolved since they opened - lots of options in a small, calm space.
