It is a true shame that this business will continue suffering because their employees are just unbelievably rude, slow, and, honestly, usually under the influence (unless there is another reason their eyes are almost closed). We live walking distance from this location so we have given them a shot a few times, but the employees are that bad and we can't give anymore chances. My husband and I both have worked in the food service industry for over a decade and we try to be patient, we know what things can be like when you are in the weeds and customers are relentless. But taking 45 minutes to complete 3 sandwich orders, giving customers an attitude when they ask if things will be up shortly, chatting with coworkers instead of working on orders, etc. is unacceptable. Not to mention they weren't changing gloves at the proper times they should be according to the health code. I rather drive far and wide to give my money to a company and employees that deserves it. I am a sandwich person and have been eager to try Primo's since I became aware of its existence. It is a little out of my way, but a good sandwich is worth a bit of a drive. I had the Nonna's Veggie medium-size sandwich (9" long ) and it was amazing. Broccoli Rabe? Yes please. Sharp provolone and roasted red peppers? Yes to that as well... I even liked the eggplant cutlet. The bread was neither too hard nor too soft, and the sesame seeds on it were very much appreciated (there is an unseeded option too, but why would you do that?). The sandwich was filled to the brim with all the ingredients, and it was so much food I had to make two meals of it. I also tried the Primos branded Italian potato chips but I didn't really like the flavor. As a pescetarian, I really appreciated the veggie options on Primo's menu and I can't wait to try more sandwiches. I have had the Italian hoagies which they bring to the Seton Hall cafeteria. They are pretty good. However when I went to the store I ordered a chicken cheesesteak which is one of my favorite sandwiches. However, what I got was cheese slices with chicken chunks on top with marinated peppers on top. It's as if they applied the the making of an Italian hoagies to making a cheesesteak. So not good. Service was sparse. It was 1:00 pm so late for lunch but there were only two people behind the counter. However when my order was taken no one manned the register. This place is a joke and kind of a scam. They layer their sandwiches as if they are layering a hot dog. They put a bunch of meat in the middle of the bread and then they add the toppings on top. So when you're taking a bite, you're either biting into toppings or a bunch of meat. They do this because they are trying to hide the fact that they are using mini bread as if they purchased them in the supermarket and not regular hero bread as if you were getting it from your local corner store. I experience good customer service during my visit; an employee is willing to be accommodating and attentive to my order, Nonna's Veggies (without cheese). I like the Eggplant's crispy bread texture, Broccoli Rabe is so good (on its own, in a different context), and Roasted Peppers can offer a good flavor and texture. Yet, with all these enjoyable ingredients, it's difficult to find flavor beyond the Olive Oil which I have to let drip out into mini-puddles. Stopped here for a quick bite before hitting the road. The staff was nice and friendly and people were in the outside seating area laughing and enjoying their food. I got a primo ham and cheese with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil and vinegar, salt, pepper and spicy mustard. Over all this sandwich was good and it reminded me of a Blimpies sandwich, which is my favorite all time place. They also have olives, dirty pudding and other items available for purchasing. They have their own brand of chips too. It would have been a five, but the Italian bread was a little on the hard side as compared to other Italian breads that I've had before. read more

Was THRILLED when we heard Primo was coming to West Orange. We first tried them In Wildwood, and loved them. Yeah, a little spendy, but I don't mind if the food is good. That was, until last Wednesday. Whoever was running the slicer on Wednesday 12/20, needs to be retrained. On a mild Italian, 1 slice of each meat an eighth inch thick is unacceptable. That's like the thickness of a standard slice of Taylor Ham. (Yeah! TAYLOR HAM, not pork roll, you South Jersey heathens!!) You couldn't bite through the prosciutto.
