I've been going to Laura at Prime Nails for years and have always supported her, even recommending friends and family who became regulars. But at my recent visit, I left feeling unheard as a customer. I felt pressure to get extensions on all nails, but compromised on just my thumb because the edge had a little breakage, even though I specifically said I didn't want extensions, so I gave in -- as I have with other things in the past. The result looked noticeably different from my other thumb (so thick and wide), yet she insisted it was due to my nail bed. When she eventually removed the extension, both thumbs looked the same. I know this was not an issue with my nails, but rather the application even though she would not back down. She also burned me multiple times during the appointment, and despite me expressing the pain I was in, there was no reaction or apology -- as if I was expected to just tolerate it. After all this time, it's disappointing to leave unhappy with both the experience and the end result. read more

As a first time customer, they were very welcoming and fit me into the schedule with no problem. They have a zillion options for gel, nail art, acrylics, regular polish, they have everything. I was put with Zeke and we did a cat eye gel on my nails - he did a great job and I love the set. The interior is very clean and peaceful. Quite possibly the best nail salon I've ever been too. I've had my nails done by quite a few people here, including Tracy and Laura. Everyone here is so sweet! I see Laura every two weeks, without fail and it's like reuniting with a best friend each time. Any issues (which there are very rarely... they're that good!) are solved quickly, efficiently and fairly based on what is not only good for you aesthetic wise, but for the health and safety of your nails. Open late, close to highway and train as well as bus. No interacting at all throughout the entire service. Felt unwelcome. Had nails and feet done. They used " used" supplies, and I mentioned to them - no reply. No gloves either. Pedicure bowls weren't lined w that little plastic lining. The bathroom wasn't cleaned either. Sloppy work and very unsanitary. They pulled out used instruments to use on my hands and feet (just thrown into the drawer, not sterilized in packets). I asked them to spray them with alcohol and they weren't happy about it. I am so nervous I am going to get an infection from my experience here. I only stayed because I had an event the next day and no time to get an appointment anywhere else and did my best to ask them to spray everything with alcohol.... Disclaimer: I really love my old place but two weeks before a big event I found out that my nail technician was in Asia for the rest of the summer visiting family. I'm so happy that she was able to finally visit her family but I was heartbroken. I searched yelp for a nail salon that was close-ish by but more importantly able to do nail design and UV gel. Ohh Yelp you did not disappoint. If you want UV gel and design, Laura is the one!! Always prompt with keeping appointments and she is fast and skilled. I have to admit that I am not great with keeping on top of my appointments because I absolutely hate sitting at the nail salon. Laura does a great job and gets you in and out!! Updating my review after 5 months of consistently going to Prime nails - after my first few appointments, I noticed my nails weren't done with the same beautiful consistency- and I was coming in more often than usual for broken nails. I had made an appointment for 3:30 yesterday in hopes that I could get my powder nails done. Last time I was in the salon I got a $10 off coupon to use by 2/28. I had gone in on 2/27 but they didn't have time to fit me in, and I said I'd come by Monday instead (I drove out and they weren't open on Monday even though their hours state they are). I finally had my appointment and I wasn't seen until 3:55pm for my 3:30 appt. I noted that I needed to leave by 4:30 to get to work- No one offered to even file and wrap my nails in acetone while I waited. When my tech finally sat down to help me, she rushed through wrapping my nails and used the dremmel way too long on each finger- to the point of filing and burning each one. Even now I feel a sting/pulsing in my nail beds a day later. My nails came out OK, but when I needed to check out, I handed the tech my $10 off coupon to which she denied and handed it back saying it was expired. It had expired 2 days prior- one day they were closed and the last time I came on Saturday they had no time to see me. After asking her if she would honor it, she relentlessly agreed to give me $5 off. I still tipped 20% and thanked her- but I've been on the edge about this salon for some time now, and this entire appointment set me over the edge unfortunately. The salon across the street looks very nice and clean- better parking lot situation too. Oh well :/ Responding to employee: It's not that I'm disappointed in your employees service, I'm disappointed at the unprofessionalism of how this was handled both before and after my service- and if there isn't time for you to accommodate someone's service, you should be honest and tell them that so they aren't rushing or wasting their time. read more

Terrible, terrible spa pedicure - without question, the worst I've EVER gotten. When doing a spa pedicure, you expect extra TLC - not delivered here. Not only was the filing on my nails terrible and my nails weren't buffed, the massage was barely felt (despite asking for increased pressure multiple times) and the additional 'perks' of the Lavendar Spa Pedicure were barely applied (exfoliation, something for calluses on your heals). I had Laura paint my nails because I was so disappointed, she may have done a decent job but because my nails weren't filed to my liking, they still looked terrible. I think the worst part was that after complaining, they doubled down on their performance and didn't comp the price at all. This used to be my go to spot whenever I was in Long Jsland, but it is definitely not anymore and I do not recommend this place based both on quality and customer service. read more

Came here on a whim after reading their reviews on Yelp and wanted to treat myself to a mid-week manicure and massage. The 10-minute massage was really refreshing and felt amazing.I called before my appointment and they were able to squeeze me in on short notice, no problem. I went around prime time rush hour school dismissal time (around 4 pm) on south oyster bay road, so sitting through the bumper to bumper traffic just to get to the location was kind of annoying. i was not crazy about the location or that parking lot, the salon itself is pretty small compared to other places I've been to. However, i was greeted warmly and seated right away. their color selection for the regular polish was lackluster, but i saw they had a TON of powder gel nail colors to choose from. the pricing is slightly cheaper (regular manicure was $12) than other salons lately, which is what drew me in to try this salon in the first place. For a regular manicure, i honestly was not very amazed at the job she did. she definitely took a little longer than i expected for a regular manicure and the application of the polish was very poor, in my opinion. the polish was thick and didn't dry quickly. I actually ended up taking the polish off immediately when i got home and applied clear polish when i got home because there were air bubbles trapped in every nail (not sure if it was the quick dry air spray that she put on while i was drying at the table). but as someone who looks at my nails often throughout the day, i couldn't stand looking at the air bubbles on every finger. the service was fine - nothing over the top. overall, was not impressed, but may consider going back to give them another try. read more

I visited Prime Nails & Spa today for the first time after following them for a while on Instagram. Eva did my pink and white ombré UV gel set, and my nails look amazing! I am very particular about nail shape. I asked for an "almond" shape and that's exactly what I got! Eva was very nice and paid so much attention to detail to make sure they were perfect. The salon itself is also very nice and clean. They have a rewards card system where you get $10 off for every $200 you spend. And, they are abiding to all COVID regulations by doing temperature checks at the door, hand sanitizing upon arrival, and social distancing between patrons. I hate to find a place that's great in all aspects on the first visit and then come back another time to only experience rudeness.

Came here a few times & left happy until my most recent visit in these last couple weeks. I went to the same person I typically go to, but could tell I was being rushed this time around, and upon leaving, three of my nails had bubbles after my manicure. But her rushing was not her fault, the person who schedules appointments doesn't ask on the phone how many services exactly are being done, or if the client needs removal done before a new set when coming in, & then this causes the nail tech to rush when the person making appointments does not block out enough time for them to complete their client. Then, when paying & trying to use a coupon through their rewards system, which I was unaware had an expiration, & respectfully told the woman it was okay not to use it & I was sorry for being unaware about the expiration, the person at the counter - Cindy I believe - was very rude, & practically yelling in my face. My nail tech has always been extremely nice & kind to me upon all visits there, but Cindy has been continuously rude each time. Through prior visits she has constantly tried to push different services on me that I simply just did not want, instead of just respecting when I politely decline she's literally told me "well you shouldn't do this," as if something wrong was being done to my nails. She also basically stands right next to you and will hover over you until you pick your pedicure color when you first arrive which I always find uncomfortable and pressuring. I hate to find a place that's great full circle, but ends up driving a client away with unnecessary rudeness & unprofessional character. read more

I've never done it before, but I figured I would try it. 3 weeks later they are still in perfect condition and I'm shocked bc I am a chef, so my nails always get destroyed.
