Luckily their location was not terrible to find, as there was ample street parking. When I walked in, the warm and friendly receptionist greeted and made me feel right at home. Throughout my visit, Shannon shared me with her wealth of knowledge of the various AHAs as well as retinoid products. I love that we were able to geek out on which products to use to achieve brightening effects. She also made some recommendations based on my skin type such as mandelic acid instead of glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation. Without trying to oversell me her products, she suggested that I try over-the-counter Nizoral antifungal wash for possible white-heads that pop up occasionally as well as prescription tretinoin since I had a few hyperpigmented spots that I wanted to fade/brighten. Given it was my first time there, she did allow me to use my credit card to pay but informed me that she only accepted cash or checks to help keep operating costs down. Since my back issues were minor based on her assessment, I did not schedule a return visit. I so very much appreciate her sound and scientifically backed advice (I also follow various certified dermatologists on IG for general aging skin care maintenance); I definitely will be making a visit if future skin issues arrive!

First of all, a 50% deposit is required in order to book the appointment. I had no problem with that but didn't realize until after that I had chosen the wrong date due to the date being so small in font. I received a confirmation that showed a date that was further out than I desired and wanted to cancel right away but there was no option to. I responded to the email, calendar invite, and sent a text all stating that I needed to cancel the appointment right away. At this point my appointment should have been cancelled and pending deposit charge should have been cancelled as well. It was not. Instead she responded argumentatively and told me that she would cancel but I had to wait (and so does my deposit) until the following week whenever she was back in salon. While the amount of those funds may seem trivial to some, to others they are not. For me this disconnection and the way it was handled is unprofessional and inconsiderate to the client. Doesn't really make me want to even give the service a chance.

(There was a whole lot of information to remember before the visit and they don't all sink in until you're done and you get the kit.) Otherwise I had a pleasant experience getting my first peel with Sheila/Shiela. I'm now on my 4th day post-procedure and looking forward to the results. I made an appointment and on the day of my appointment, I met Danielle who was still settling in and I didn't want her to rush getting ready for me, so I chilled on one of her cute sofas. When she was ready, she let me upstairs to a room where I would be for the next hour and a half. I changed out of my top and put on a towel wrap and a hairband. I settled on the reclining chair and the steam got started. As Danielle got settled to start on my face, she showed me the different masks but I let her determine which one to use on me after seeing my skin. I ended up with the one that smelled like marshmallows and I felt like a cake getting frosted. It felt so good. By the time I was done, my skin was hella glowing and I felt renewed!
