Prime 141 treats you like royalty. You are attended to with extraordinary kindness and genuine recommendations are warmly given by the staff. I cannot express my gratitude more completely to this restaurant, other than to say that I literally created this Yelp profile, just now, to write this review - my first and only Yelp review, to date.
My fiance', 4-year old, and I went to Prime 141 for our anniversary dinner, and were seated in a booth where the ambiance is dimly lit and cozy. We began by ordering the Pinot - Lange Classique & the Cabernet (Hess MVRK); both were on the wetter side and mouth-wateringly good. Crystal (our waitress) and her Trainee brought us the olive bread (with bacon) and the smoked butter, beautifully presented in a smoky, glass dome. Fun presentation aside, the bread and butter were delicious. The bread is flaky and warm, and the butter is creamy and smoky, reminiscent of a campfire, as Crystal mentioned.
We then enjoyed the roasted brussel sprout dish as an appetizer, which comes with two (2) sauces to dip in; the sprouts were extremely good, and both sauces were exceptional, particularly the one that I think is Romesco-based. Throughout all this, the gentlemen pouring our water were always attentive and quick to give us re-fills, without our asking.
Then we ordered entrees. I ordered the NY Steak (medium rare, ofc), and my fiance' ordered the special which comprised of jumbo prawns, scallops, and (I think it was Halibut) in a light sauce. I asked for bleu cheese crumbles on the side to pair with my steak, and the A1-esque sauce on the side, as well. After about 15 minutes, Crystal informed me that they had melted the bleu cheese onto my steak, and asked me if I'd like the steak re-made. I never do this, but I did ask for it to be re-made this time, because I -really- wanted to taste the flavor from the meat, especially at the price point, and bleu cheese is such a strong flavor. Crystal said they were happy to do so, and I did not feel judged in the slightest when I did confirm that I'd prefer it to be re-made.
When that steak came out, my God..... perfect, crisp crust - glazing every surface of the NY cut. Beautiful marbling in the warm, pink center. Just the right amount of fat. This steak, unequivocally, justifies the price point. In fact, it may well be significantly under-priced. It is THAT GOOD. The meat quality and the sear on this steak are off the charts. There are no words. If you love red meat, order this NY steak. It is worth every penny and more. I am from the SF Bay Area, and have been to a number of high end steakhouses; this steak obliterates them. I have had steaks at fine dining restaurants in other countries; this steak obliterates them. Do not hesitate to order the NY steak here; it should be (if it's not already) Award-winning.
My fiance's fish/scallop/prawn special was also phenomenal. The scallops were large and delicious, as were the prawns, and the fish was not "fishy", but instead was soft to the cut, tender, and light with a hint of lemon.
Around this time, Crystal brought us a side of the potato puree' on the house, because they wanted to make it up to us for the timing delay with the steak. This was not needed, but was a very sweet gesture. But the exemplary service did not stop there...
As I finished eating my steak, the Head Chef (I believe his name was David), came out and introduced himself. He was super friendly and down to Earth, and we talked steak for a solid 5 minutes. I complimented his cooking on that steak to no end. And also praised him for the cooking on the brussel sprouts, the fish special, and the unique bread and butter.
After that, Crystal gave us dessert and two (2) glasses of champagne on the house for our anniversary, and offered to take pictures of us. And the best touch of all, before the bill came out, Crystal handed us a hand-written note, expressing that it was her pleasure to serve us today, and provided us her work schedule if we come in again. The little things like this, the hand-written note, are special and reflect the incredible hospitality and warmth of the staff here. Major shout out to Crystal, David, and the whole crew for making our anniversary dinner so memorable! These are the best, most friendly people. They take pride in taking care of their patrons, and it is reflected in everything they do and say.
The service at Prime 141 -greatly exceeds- the 22% service charge that comes with the bill, and we left an additional $50 in cash - because the service is THAT exceptional & the food is just THAT good. read more
