I do not like the food, it tasted fake, almost like it was vegan, gross. I don't like vegetables

Their chocolate chip cookies are to die for. Give them a try. They have other awesome vegan options too.

Stopped at the Dallas Farmer's Market and finally got the chance to try Sierra Valley Food…read more They serve authentic Mexican food that's 100% vegan. As someone who loves to try authentic dishes but can't always find vegetarian versions, I really appreciate places like this! The people there were so nice and answered all of my questions about the dishes. Their most popular taco is the al pastor - carne asada which was understandably sold out. Instead, I ordered their second most popular taco, the carnitas, which is made out of chickpeas and is served with pineapple on top. I also ordered the chorizo taco which is made out of soy. You can also get a side of their spicy sauce which was a great addiction. Both tacos looked & tasted incredible! I was so excited to try them I forgot to take a picture once I got back to my car. Highly recommend trying this place out if you are at the farmer's market. I definitely plan on going back and will go a little earlier next time to try the al pastor!

In addition to having a stand at the farmer's market, Sierra Valley Food sells packaged foods on…read moretheir website: right now they have tamales, packaged vegan "meats", salsa, queso, and taco kits - all completely vegan, of course! Delivery in DFW is currently free (in December 2020), and you can ship to other locations. We ordered a dozen mixed tamales - I love that they sell variety packs! All were really good, and not too dry or crumbly. The "pork" were my favorite. The tamales are a decent size; three tamales were enough for a hearty meal for me (with no other sides!), and I don't have a delicate appetite. I also got some al pastor and carne asada, which I'm excited to try soon. I'm local in Dallas, and my ordered was delivered the day after I placed it! The prices are super for vegan foods: a dozen tamales for $19, and $12 for a pound of pre-cooked vegan meat to use in tacos, burritos, etc. Get your socially distanced plant-based holiday tamales from Sierra Valley - they're currently taking orders for Christmas and New Year's Eve!

But, a few aspects of this place keep me from giving a strong rating. The vibe fits the south end of Bishop Arts, having a local hole in the wall quality. It was warm outside and the front is a large open wall, with no enclosed air conditioning. Air is moved with fans, which helped. But, it was quite humid inside and I would have appreciated more relief from the heat. There is an "order here" counter, but also QR codes on the tables that open a web page you can order from. It's weird to me to ask customers *in the store* to go through the hassle of entering credit card, phone number, billing address, etc. into a phone in order to get food brought to a table. I started this process and bailed on it cuz annoying, approaching the register at the counter instead. The staff member behind the counter said, "happy to take your order" and all was fine. Maybe this would be more convenient if I was a regular and there was a long line at the register. We ordered a 6 layer dip, side of Elote, and Birria tacos. The Elote was delicious. The dip was meh, having a top layer that was pureed and reminiscent of a baby food flavor I couldn't put my finger on. The chips provided were bland and obviously store bought, taking away from any impression of in-house freshness. The Birria takes were tasty, though served very hot. The sauce provided tasted like a Chamoy, rather than the red gravy I'm used to. If the dishes were more consistent, order process clearer, and air conditioning better controlled, I'd have scored higher.
