I called/emailed 7 bakeries looking for some one to do a small, fondant Batman- decorated, German chocolate cake for a birthday party (See my photo). The decorations weren't the issue, nobody felt they could do a German chocolate under fondant without using icing. Birthday boy doesn't like icing. Then Reena replies and says it's not an issue, she can use ganache to keep it smooth and the design won't be a problem. At this point I'm beaming with excitement. Fast forward to the cake I picked up- again see my picture. While the base fondant was immaculate and smelled heavenly, the batman design looked like a child did it. At this point, I'm not going to let it ruin the party. So i pay and leave. So, why didn't I stand there and argue that it looks terrible? What good would that have done, especially if she was confident enough in her work to give me that cake? If she could have done better, it would have been perfect when I arrived and I needed a cake right then. Lesson learned on my part. I was hoping the cake was delicious. Since I peeled off the design and made a stencil with confectioners sugar, nobody even knew the cake was wrong. However, everyone asked why I got chocolate & coffee flavored cake with coconut filling. I didn't believe them until I tasted it. It tasted like coffee. What a waste.

It was the first thing we saw when we entered our reception and it definitely set the tone for the beautiful evening that followed. She was so easy to work with and took our ideas and also gave us some great suggestions, which was incredibly helpful as I had never designed a wedding cake before. More importantly, the cake was DELICIOUS. I've been to a lot of weddings and the cake is always so-so at best. But the cake was moist and her Italian buttercream frosting was amazing! We got so many compliments on both the presentation and the taste, it really became one of the stars of the night. My Cupcake Garden came to my wife's 40th birthday party this past weekend and really stole the…read moreshow. It was my first time to every use a food truck and it was kind of a last minute decision to pull the trigger on it because i didn't want to put money out on something i hadn't tried before and end up being disappointed, but i have to say, Pamela the owner was super helpful and patient as i got up to speed on how it all works, and it didn't hurt to see that they had won the award for best dessert in the recent Texas food truck competition. The cupcakes were great - really top notch. The flavor that they won the contest with, strawberry on strawberry, was ridiculously good. So was the cookies and cream, and there is one with caramel frosting on it that seems like it is pretty much 100% genuine salted caramel on top. Completely satisfied with the cupcakes - delicious! Best though, was that Pamela and her partner (sorry can't remember his name) were super friendly and thoughtful. When i told my wife there was something out front and everybody was following her out of the house, the truck was parked out front and there was a big screen on the side of the truck that read Happy Birthday with her name on it - they also had a candle to light and put on her cupcake while we all sang to her. It was just really cool, and the little touches like that made it really memorable. I honestly didn't even remember mentioning my wifes name, but Pamela had noted it and made the display - very nice. My wife loved it, our guests loved it, and I've had numerous comments on how great the truck, the people, and the cupcakes were, so thanks Pamela and My Cupcake Garden for helping make the party a huge success!

One time were at a private event and so the cupcakes were free. They came in plastic containers and were good on the day of and the day after. all that to say they kept very well. We've also the seen the truck all over Dallas at fairs and festivals. The cupcakes themselves were great. My favorite was the chocolate cream ones. The frosting was not too sweet and the presentation was great. The service was very friendly and I hope to continue to bump into this truck.

Recently, I made the drive to her current shop in Irving, Texas. It's a bit of a distance for me, but I truly enjoy supporting businesses like this. The new location is such a step up cute, welcoming, and in a great area. I treated myself to butter pecan ice cream with Fruity Pebbles, and it honestly reminded me that even as an adult, it's okay to enjoy the little things that bring happiness. I highly recommend that the business remains in this location; the community was incredibly welcoming and clearly excited to have ZZ's Ice Cream there.
