Okay to be fair I was on the fence about eating here until the salesman at Dodge raved about the food. Italian food has a new name Praire Italian. The place could have been a sizzles for ambience. It has a huge menu but sometimes it's better to do certain items great then a lot just okay. Veal marsala was brown gravy over spaghetti. The baked Tuscany had Canadian bacon in it and was not baked. The 3 tri apos were from frozen; calamari, mozzarella sticks and fried shrimp. Think Costco buy and serve. The Ruffino Chianti was rough and the house Grenache was surprisingly good. Food/Drink: The pasta was good as long as you don't have the Carbonara. Tastes odd. Steaks are good too. They've got 3 beers to choose from but an extensive selection of wines. Service: Pleas keep your dining experience to 30 minutes or less. Have a party of 6+? Doesn't matter. Wrap it up! They gotta flip tables. For a small town this is a wonderful Italian restaurant. The spinach dip is an absolutely must try. Rich creamy texture filled with spinach and garlic. The bread goes terrific with it. First visit to this restaurant. I ordered Chicken Piccata, and it was NOT good! I had a side salad with the house dressing, and I didn't like it either. An Italian restaurant should always have great Italian salad dressing. I ordered a side of Alfredo sauce to help disguise the taste of the Piccata, and it was good. Too bad that I didn't order Fetticinni Alfredo. In my opinion, if the customer isn't satisfied, shouldn't the management make things right? I thought being charged for the Alfredo sauce was a chintzy move. If the Piccata was edible, I wouldn't have needed something to cover up the taste. We were staying in the Rodeway Inn next door on our way from Austin to Waco because all the hotels were booked in Waco for Baylor homecoming, and I got to say, it was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the Chicken Alfredo, and my friends ordered the Chicken Parmesan and the ribeye steak. They and the bread were all delicious, cheap (especially compared to austin!), and came in ample portions. This was probably one of of my favorite meals in a while, and I wasn't expecting it from a small town restaurant next to my hotel. The service was also great with an extremely friendly staff! The only real downside is that they don't serve alcohol, but they are BYOB. They do have wine glasses and a corkscrew, so make sure to grab a bottle of wine beforehand! read more

Stopped in for lunch today but I should have known not to expect much of a restaurant connected to a cheap motel in a small town. Out first was the best part of the meal- the bread. It was warm and buttery. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs which comes with either soup or salad. I picked the only soup on the menu, pasta fagiole. The soup was thin and lacked everything- few noodles, fewer beans and canned soup flavor. The spaghetti and meatballs was practically inedible. The meatballs were gray, clearly the cook didn't know that browning means flavor. As for the spaghetti, the sauce tasted like it came out of a jar and the pasta was overcooked. I mentioned this to the waitress and she kindly brought me a complementary cannoli. However, the cannoli shell was so hard that it to was inedible. As I went to pay I asked why my bill was so high. I was told that the pasta fagiole is not offered as a side but only as a meal. The waitress did not mention this when I ordered it and I only ordered it because it was the only soup on the menu. When I questioned this, the waitress did give me my money back for the soup. Overall, this place is not worth stopping in. Drive the extra 30 minutes to Killeen or Temple. read more

I've only been there once. The meal was delicious, BUT I ordered a canoli for dessert. I had to ask forvit a 2nd time, when I was cashing out, because the waitress forgot to put it in. No big deal. However, they should have thrown out the canolis that day. The shell was overcooked, and you needed a nutcracker to get to the filling. The filling was great, but the overcooked shell made it not worth the cost. My Google review went ignored, so I haven't been back. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant a lot in the past and it was always very good. I wish I could say that now. My husband ordered the veal parmigiana and I got the Antipasto salad. My husband's veal was actually what seemed like to round hamburger patties covered in sauce and cheese. It was awful. The antipasto salad was nothing to get excited over either. The rolls were wonderful. The service was ok, just a little inexperienced. The ambiance was back from the 60's, but what do you expect from a small Texas town. This is one of those rare places that even if your waiting two hours, you should wait happily knowing that some really good food is coming. The pizza is really good. Much like actual New York pizza. Thin, crunchy crust large slices and good cheese. The pasta is pretty good too. But some that is consistently good is the cannoli. Order a cannoli and order a cannoli for a friend. I happened to be in the area and the restaurant that I wanted to go to was closed, so Prima Pasta was recommended by the hotel staff. I liked the bread, but it wasn't what you imagine Italian bread to be...it was more reminiscent of the bread of sausage kolaches. I ordered a shrimp scampi, and I guess I've never had shrimp scampi before so I couldn't compare it to anything, and it came in a red/orange colored sauce as opposed to a lemon butter (yellowy) type sauce, which is what I thought shrimp scampi was. Anyways, it was flavorful - lots of garlic and parmesan with a hint of lemon. It liked it, even though the dish was a lil greasy, but there was a good amount of shrimp and the shrimp and pasta were well done. The portion was good for a decent price, so I recommend coming here if you happen to be in the area as well. read more

Spinach dip & bread was good. I got a pasta with salmon, the salmon was dry. The service was terrible. Our Waitress was so rude and really didn't care for us to be there. We felt rushed to make a choice about our food because she kept coming "are you ready yet?" And just had the rudest tone. At 0930 the started to turn off the lights. We stopped here from Copperas Cove on the way to Waco because we were in the mood for Italian. What a pleasant surprise! The linguini with red clam sauce was superb, house salad was very fresh. My husband had a large salad with grilled chicken and a bowl of fugioli (?). He ate it all! Some of the rolls were a little chewy. But the fresher one, oh mama Mia! Prices are reasonable.
