They have some cute styles, a good selection, and of course it's Main st Pleasanton so expected high prices. I was a bit surprised for the image (and price) of quality that most items were made of acrylic or polyester. For those prices I would like better quality fabrics like wool, cashmere, at least some rayon. We did get a cool wallet but it was not even leather...and $60. The COOL part of this store is the hat bar in the back! Great idea for a few friends to pick a hat and some decorations and make a customized hat. Loved our first but NOT our last visit to Prim! I went in with the attention of getting my two hats worked on at the new hat bar....well I was not disappointed and even bought a new hat!!! I can't wait to wear it! We had the best time and did not feel pressured at all...Marissa the owner helped design my two hats and I couldn't be happier! We also found some great tops. We found out about Prim on Instagram and my only regret is that I didn't visit sooner! I read some of the comments and I was a bit hesitant to visit as folks mention the staff was rude and/or the prices....well I don't know where they shopped because The entire staff was extremely helpful and gave their honest opinions when we tried items on. The energy was super upbeat!! As far as prices, some items were on the high end side but it's quality products and you get what you pay for...my motto is quality over quantity and this boutique is definitely quality. I also found items that were comparable to other boutiques I have shopped at. These prices are no different than if you went to shop at Nordstrom or Bloomingdale's and I prefer to shop small business! The store is super cute, and they have curated a very nice selection. I've been in here a few times to browse, and being acknowledged by staff is his or miss. There are a few that are super friendly and a few that don't even look up while you're in the store. Prices are a bit inflated including over MSRP. Their return/exchange policy is why I generally don't purchase here. I don't have an issue with limited timing to return, but there should be a time period where you can get your money back rather than just store credit...especially if some items are priced over the MSRP. read more

I love affordable boutiques. I always make it a point to visit and if I like something even if its slight more expensive I give it a go and purchase. I hate buying something and then going into work the next day to see some girl with the same dress. (true story) We were here for a day trip and my husband knew I would love this store. I did! I was browsing and found a romper I liked. Immediately, a sales lady came over and offered to start a fitting room for me. I browsed around some more but didn't find anything else I liked. I walk over to the dressing room area and another sales lady was like "the rompers?" Yes. I went into one of the little dressing rooms while my husband sat on their comfy cough. The fitting room has a soft rug which was so nice on my bare feet. I did wish the curtain closed better though. I saw that the romper I liked had a stain and brought it to the sales lady's attention. She went upstairs to find another in my size and then since it was wrinkled she steamed it for me. Also a surprise 25% off! I had a great time and if I was in the area I would definitely visit again. read more

Super cute store and friendly staff as well. However, I feel misled in a purchase I made of almost $400 last week. I was on the fence about an outfit in their store. I let the sales associate know that I had placed an order online that I wasn't sure would make it in time for an upcoming event which was why I came in to see what they had. She let me know that they offered a 14-day return policy in case I changed my mind. She didn't mention that this would only be for store credit or exchange. I would have never made this purchase if I knew a return wouldn't be fully refunded. I wish my overall experience was better. I'm local to Pleasanton and have nothing negative to say about their staff or store as my experience outside of this has been very pleasant. However, this specific incident left a bad taste in my mouth Hoping that this policy is updated or at least verbalized when other shoppers are on-the-fence regarding a potential purchase! read more

This is HANDS DOWN my favorite store. I can honestly say I have stopped shopping at Nordstrom for many reasons, among them selection, customer service, and the owner. 1. The Owner: Missy is AMAZING. She remembered me after one time of visiting the store, and even remembered details about my life. Shopping at Prim isn't like going into a store - you aren't "sold" anything. I feel like I'm hanging out with a girlfriend there. She's HONEST. Today she told me that even though what I was wearing was cute, I didn't need it and should wait to spend my money because more cute stuff is coming in. She welcomes my three year old son (and ANY child) into the store - she even has crayons and color books waiting in the fitting area. All moms can appreciate this!! 2. Customer Service: This is a continuation of my previous comment about Missy, because she exemplifies what customer service should be. Going into Prim isn't a transaction, is an experience. It's hanging out, its talking if you want to talk, planning for an upcoming event, laughing, joking - and in the mean time, you end up finding some really cute clothes. Nordstrom may have good customer service, but you know they're on commission and trying to sell you. At Prim, I don't know if they are on commission or not, which is great, because I never feel pressured. Ever. All the girls are great at selecting, are incredibly attentive and gracious and patient no matter how many customers they're attending to. And their return policy is AWESOME, especially for a small boutique (not sure what "Danielle W" was talking about, their return policy is clearly stated at the register and on the receipt). I had a pair of pants that I bought over a month ago that just fit funny, so I facebooked Prim and they told me to just bring the pants in when I had the chance! They kept my store credit and as soon as I found something I wanted, they gave me the full amount I paid for the pants even though they had since gone on sale. No other boutique will accommodate you like that! Their rewards system is great, too - I love that they keep track of my points/purchases so I don't have to keep some punch card in my wallet - I always lose punch cards or small gift cards! I went in today and was able to buy a dress, a skirt, shorts, and a scarf for $18 with my rewards from the previous month! Thanks Prim!! 3. Selection: Move aside BP. This store is FILLED with the cutest clothes. Everything is fashionable, but the selection is so that there is something for every style, age, shape, etc. And you cannot beat the prices - a maxi skirt for $28 that is Nordstrom quality? Yes please, I'll take one in every color! The only time there isn't a lot of clothes is when there's an event and everyone buys EVERYTHING. This store is going to grow so fast with the customer loyalty the team is building, and the clothes just sells itself. Missy is great about immediately restocking, too, and if you like them on facebook you can see what shipments they get! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I can't take my business anywhere else after shopping at Prim now that Missy has taken over the store. WOW! I'm actually amazed that there's an affordable boutique located in the heart of downtown Pleasanton? My fellow Yelper, Janice, recommended that I check this spot out. So glad I finally did. Loved the decor - very shabby chick kinda vibe. Style of clothing follows suit - more on the classic, modern, sweet & romantic look. What really sold me on this place was the reasonable prices. I would say most prices were around the $40 range. More unique pieces will cost a bit more. Quality of clothing may be slightly better than F21. My favorite part of this store is the small benches found in each dressing room. How creative. =) I would have given this store a 5th star if they carried more edgier pieces but I don't think that's what PRIM is all about. Nonetheless, this is definitely a hidden treasure. They then made me call my relative who purchased the card and required their name and card number to search through records while I waited an hour for me to use the gift card balance that they erased. Went to a shopping night at Prim that some of my friends hosted. It's a very lovely experience, you can bring in drinks + appetizers, have your choice of music playing, and shop in the company of good friends. I like the atmosphere, it's upscale yet casual and inviting. I mom really hard, so naturally the thing that caught my attention was the little pretend kitchen in the back room. Good to know that I can come back to shop with a monkey or two in tow. There is a nice variety of cute tops, pants, skirts, hats, and accessories. This boutique will not crush your wallet, some jeans are over 200.00 and some are only 62.00. They carry many incredibly soft and luxurious pieces. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to scout everything out. I did about 6 laps, and found something new each time. I was hoping for more shoes and dresses. I know that the inventory with boutiques like this can vary, so I will be back soon. Some of the tops have funny little sayings on them. Others are very neutral, a little dressier, and can be easily dressed up even more with any of their wonderful jewelry options. Don't let the sizes detour you. I usually wear a petite medium/Large, and I bought a very cute small tank top. Go ahead and try it on, you will most likely love it! Speaking of trying it on, I'm in love with the beautiful, roomy, dressing "cabana-tents" what a pleasure it was to try on clothes in there. While on tour of DT Pleasanton w Amy J who pointed out the cutest shops and boutiques on Main St we of course had to stop into Prim. The aesthetic and merchandise are easy on the eyes, it's cute with a rustic nod, up cycled pallets, frames and dressing room lights woven into the decor. Prim is a women's apparel boutique that carries more on trend than staples, though not to say you couldn't find an LBD there! In the fitting room area there are also a couple sale racks with great finds like pants/skirts from $15-$20. I found a really cute skirt there but unfortunately this holiday season I must have had 1 too many pieces of pie so I will be back once I get my waistline a bit more under control. Oh and the staff there is very friendly, I had left my flowers on the floor of the dressing room ( from the farmers market ) and when I remembered less than a minute from walking out the door they had already picked them up and put my flowers behind the counter. I've never physically been to this boutique. My experience was with one of their associates and the owner over the phone. Both of them provided phenomenal customer service! I called to request a specific item but I didn't know the name or brand of it. The only information I had was roughly what it cost, the color of it, and a general idea of the garment style. They were able to look it up through a customer's past purchase history. Not a random customer by the way, it was a customer who I provided the name of. The item I was looking to purchase was no longer in stock but the associate said the owner would contact me after her lunch break. They called me back 15 minutes later and told me that their Los Gatos location had one available. The fact that my request was one of the first things she handled after coming back from lunch really blew me away. I've never had customer service at such a high level of quality. On top of all of that she said they would transfer it to their store within one day, then ship it via priority mail to me free of shipping charges. I thought I would have to trek over to the other store so I was very relieved when she assured me that it would be a simple process to get the item without any effort on my end. I called them not knowing that they tracked customer purchases and was hoping that there might be a small glimmer of hope that they could help me pull off a surprise gift. Now I will be able to replace this person's favorite item that was accidentally dyed pink when her husband did the laundry :) She will be so pleasantly shocked when she opens her birthday present! I was walking from Red Coats to get soft serve and I kinda stumbled across this store. Since when did downtown Pleasanton get such cutesy boutique retail shops?!?! The clothes were cute and they were affordable! They even email you your receipt :) Screw the mall! There's Prim and Therapy right across the street :) Whoever the buyer is for this shop......keep doing what you do, you have excellent taste. They call themselves "Affordable Couture." They have a wide variety of items that range from trendy and hip to every day items. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. It's definitely a good place to browse. The prices are fairly reasonable and it has the feel of a boutique. They get new items pretty often. I'll probably be back since I live in the area. read more

Let me start by saying that I love to shop. I really love it. But...I do NOT like to spend exorbitant amounts of money. So, I never shop at places like Anthropologie or JCrew, as much as I love the styles. And it always makes me mad! So, Prim is like the answer to my prayers :) They have done a superb job of creating a beautiful and warm space to shop in that's just girly enough without being forced. The styles are hip and there is a good variety to choose from, for being a boutique. And the prices...well, they're pretty perfect. WOW! What a great addition to Los Gatos! Look, if you are looking for a satisfying shopping experience with really cool, helpful and genuinely friendly customer service combined with reasonably priced, fantastic, fashionable clothing then GO HERE! The environment is A+! In addition, everything I bought here so far has become main staples in my wardrobe. The camisoles (especially the half camisoles) are amazing! They are fitted perfectly and don't roll up your body. Really, get one in every color. You won't be sorry. The Stretch pants stay put and don't roll up on you either. Super compfortable. Everything I've bought, a dress, skirt, and about 5 or so tops are awesome and didn't bust my budget. Listen, I love Anthro just as much as the next gal, but $100 for one item is tough sometimes. A girl's gotta have some fine wine some time. Prim offers super cute clothing at around 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of other boutiques. Addressing a quality concern, here's a secret. Don't throw your clothes in the dryer. Just hang it out to dry and your clothes will stay fresh and new. read more

Great clothes, perfect combination of unique yet on-trend. Gorgeous array of colors for spring & summer, with very nice materials. Super reasonably priced- I bought a gorgeous dress for $29, and that seems to be the mean price in the store. I rarely venture in to boutiques due to the price factor, but the gorgeous colors drew me right in. I picked up the price tag on the first thing I saw and - shock!- it was a reasonable $48. Encouraged, I browsed some more, peeping at the price tags as I went along. Everything seemed in the range of $29-58, which I consider highly reasonable for a local business offering great clothes. The service was great, the feel inside is super cute. I'm extremely petite, and I found well-fitting clothes, a huge plus. One thing to note, they don't do returns, it's exchange only. Last month I did some last minute holiday shopping and decided to head to downtown Pleasanton for the unique shops they have. I have been inside Prim in the past but really didn't look that hard and hadn't been in for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many cute, reasonably priced and unique clothing. Not only did I get a gift for someone, I purchased top for myself. I have worn it several times and I get so many compliments and people asking me where did I find it. well I can't say enough great stuff about this shop! I love PRIM!! Its a blessing and a curse I live so closely!! The owner Missy, and staff Corey and Carolina and phenomenal! they know me by name as well as my kids and its a major score they have coloring books and crayons for them to play with so mommy can shop! I certainly do not have a cookie cutter body, but I am able to find TONS of stuff to fit this mom of 2! I get compliments every time I wear something from Prim, when asked I grin and say Prim of course! Its rare that when I am getting ready for work I don't have something from Prim on. Keep up the great work ladies I am a customer for life that is for certain! Totally cute clothes! There is a bit of vintage flair, a little bohemian, and reasonably priced. Why not love? There just isn't much for the over thirty crowd. I love vintage look and found such cute stuff but it was all too short or sheer. The staff person said they are getting slips meant to be seen so you can lengthen a skirt with a ruffle that's meant to be worn that way. I'll go back to check that out, it's an intriguing concept. If it doesn't work I can't shop at Prim, because I mostly wear dresses and their dresses are mostly too short and sheer for a 40 year old fighting gravity and I don't wear maxi dresses as I'm too short and trip on them. read more

Went to the pleasanton store and thought it was so cute! :) I wished it was bigger and had more stuff! I had been following them on Instagram for a while and really wanted to visit the store! The girl working the register today was so very friendly and professional! I think this is very important at boutiques! I ended up buying a pretty blue-almost denim look to it faded knit shirt with lace detailing on the sleeves and a lace strip down the back! The material is thick and soft it was a bit expensive -but I usually shop at Forever 21 and I could tell the quality of this shirt was much, much higher than most items I get from there. My mom absolutely LOVES this boutique. She lives in Granite Bay however any time she comes to visit me we always have to go to downtown Pleasanton and shop at Prim! Last time we were there, she loved one of essential oils that they had. I noted that in my head, and went back around Mother's Day to purchase it for her. They didn't have any in stock, as they order it from Venice, but took down my phone number and said they would call me when it came in. About a week later they called me and I purchased it over the phone and asked them to mail it to me. The next day a gal from Prim personally dropped off the oil at my work. She stated they weren't able to mail it and wanted to drop it off for me. They could have easily called me and said come pick it up but chose to go the extra mile. Don't waste your time here pretty ladies. First, they lose a star for being a few steps behind the trends. And really they're way too country for being in the Bay Area. But that's just my opinion. Second, they lose two stars for the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. By far. I go in frequently as I live around the corner and I really do want to like this shop. But I'm not kidding, I have never once been greeted when walking in. I follow the store on Instagram, and always go to their outdoor sales. I think it took the fourth time of me trying to find the entrance to the back to actually find it (hint: it has a sign that says "employees only"). No one ever ushered me to the back even during one of their *huge* sales. However, the straw that broke the camels back actually came from the owner (at least I assume it was her as she was talking about "her employees"). I had a gift card to use and was reeeeaaaalllly trying to find something cute, and came across a teal faux suede tank top. However, every single piece was either full of deodorant or makeup or both. I pulled one off the rack and showed her and asked if there were any more in the back as all of them were really dirty. She responded, "no, unfortunately they get that way, it's really sad". I paused for a second waiting for her to offer a discount, but that never happened. I mean why would I purchase a dirty shirt? The kicker was: her husband was right next to her steaming a rack of clothes. Nope, he didn't offer to try to get the filth off either. So I kind of raised my eyebrows, put the shirt back on the rack, and walked out. I was shocked they let me walk out like that, I've never came across a small business who could care less about my money. On another note, everyone I know has had the same experience here. It broke my heart one day when I was telling my plus sized friend how horrible the place is, she responded, "wow that makes me feel a lot better - I thought they were ignoring me because of my size". So, unless you enjoy being ignored and put off, I'd save yourself the time and annoyance and not go into this store. read more

Strolling downtown and decided to pop into Prim. It's been years since I was last there when it was under original ownership. Anyway, the store hasn't changed in terms of the style offered. Cute clothes, but that's it. I was in the store for about 15 minutes browsing and not one of the three employees there said a word to me. They did greet and chat with a woman that they knew who walked in after I did. Agitated that I couldn't get at least a hello at any time the staff walked by me, I decided to just leave. Stay away, staff is a bunch of young under paid girls that could care less about you're style. The staff is constantly drinking alcohol and screaming around the store. I tried to buy and few things but the prices were so high, nothing was less than $50 dollars. Overall, stay away from this obnoxious overpriced store. read more
