Our pool was recently resurfaced, and we had a dust storm that left a ton of dirt at the bottom of the pool. Around 11am today, the unions on our backwash assembly broke, rendering the pump and filter inoperable, all while there was quite a bit of remaining dirt from last night in the new pool. The new surface is susceptible to staining and so we couldn't afford to have the pool pump/filter be down for several days. I called many companies and got a hold of Prickly Pools. They advised that their regular distributors were closed for the long weekend, but said they'd call Leslies to see if they could locate the part, and if located could come tomorrow to complete the repair. They ended up locating the part at a Leslies close to our home, so after asking nicely for them to come today, they agreed!! The technician arrived, and advised that we didn't have much pvc left once the broken part was cut off, and that he may have to replumb a lot of additional areas. But, he found a solution using a tool so he didn't have to replumb the additional areas. I appreciated his honesty and creativity in finding a solution that saved me money. I've had a great experience, and it's nice to know that honest, timely and overall great customer service still exists. I was impressed with their offer to call around to Leslies to find the part, agreeing to repair same day at my request, and being honest by coming up with a solution to avoid a more costly replumb. Prickly Pool has been servicing my pool for the past 6 months. The actual quality pool service has been very inconsistent. I had to email the office many times because of the seriously incomplete service I was receiving. I have a very large pool. How can they service it in 12 minutes? Basic pool cleaning tasks were not completed. I've been home many times when the tech has done my service. Never have I seen him use a brush on the sides... I had to call the office and bug them to clean the hot tub of sand and debris. Talked to the tech about it, his response: "another tech is using the hose this week" or " the hose is broken, and Brandon hasn't bought another one yet". Insane, sharing a hose between techs? I bought my own hose and vacuum. They've used it once. I've been paying for the top level service that they offer, which includes among ither things filter cleaning. Received a notice a month ago to expect that to be done soon. Called the office last week to find out when, next week they said, still nothing. Also, I just find it interesting that I have never seen them pour muriatic acid into the pool... not sure what that does. But, my last pool guy did that every week! Maybe that's why after getting out of the hot tub my skin feels like it's going to burn off... I'm no pool expert. That's why I need a quality pool company! It's just amazing how bad the service industry has gotten in the last few years. PP is unfortunately not the exception. I feel bad for them actually. Start by saying the Owner Brandon seems like a good guy. I have new self cleaning pool that's a year 1/2 old. Prickly Pool is the only company that has service my pool until this past week. The customer service was good on the phone. The actual quality pool service was inconsistent. I had to email the techs many of times regarding the basic pool cleaning tasks that where not completed. Check my pool balance numbers, add chemicals according to the water samples consistently. It reached a point that I had to start taking pool samples to Lesley Pool store for accurate readings. There has been 4 instances within the year that my family or myself have gotten rashes the next day after swimming due to inconsistent attention to details of the pool samples reading each week. The pool was serviced immediately afterwards i sent them an email but this cant keep happening if they are paying and attention to details each time the tech come to service the pool. I would stay with Prickly Pool Service if they could guarantee me consistency and trust. I don't want to have to micromanage my pool cleaner nor do they want to be micromanaged. It's embarrassing to have family members calling you about getting rashes from swimming. This may have come from the tech servicing my pool at 5 AM in the dark before the sun started to rise. I had to email Brandon regarding situation after 4 weekly cleanings. There were times that my pool was serviced so fast that I couldn't put my shoes on fast enough to go outside and ask questions. They showed up on time and did a great job to install the salt water device for our hot tub. Very knowledgeable and patient with me while we were messaging on Yelp trying to get more information on the device. Very glad we got the system going, make the hot tub maintenance much easier. read more
