What should have been an $1100 repair ended up being $3614 due to two wrong guesses of what module needed to be replaced. Now this was not a warranty issue, rather, an insurance claim due to a very minor accident backing the car out of our garage. Did they take advantage of an insurance company??????? Below is the letter I sent to Donnie Nogay (owner) and Jake Tanner (service manager) regarding the extremely questionable integrity of the service department. This was sent on 2/10/2026. To date there has been no reply. I would never buy another car from them as the initial sales experience was "shady" and definitely would not take the car there for service. A rating of one star is too good, but I can't give a "zero" star rating. In December, the car was in a very minor accident backing out of the garage where the front left bumper was damaged. (see attached picture). The car was taken to Advanced Auto Body for repair under a claim with my insurance company, Allstate. Advanced Auto repaired the damage to the bumper, but could not resolve a code issue. The vehicle was then taken to your service department to determine and fix the issue. The first attempt was determined to be a bad body module, which was ordered and installed. This did not fix the problem. A second module was determined to be the problem. It was ordered and installed. This did not fix the problem. Finally, a third part was ordered and installed, which fixed the problem. These first two incorrect diagnoses and finally the correct one took approximately four weeks of the car being at your garage and approximately $2500 of incorrect parts and labor charged to my insurance company. In speaking with your service department after the first two wrong parts were replaced, I was told a "flow chart" is being used to diagnose the problem and all this was Advanced Auto's fault, as they did not find the problem with the harness in the first place. I feel there are some problems with the repair of my vehicle by the Preston Mazda service department: 1. Charging the insurance company for two incorrect diagnoses parts and labor, before finally determining what the real problem was on the third try. 2. Blaming Advanced Auto for not finding the problem in the first place. It took your service department, the "Mazda Expert", three attempts before getting it right. 3. Using the excuse of a flow chart as the cause of the first two incorrect determinations of the problem. Is there any data collected nationwide as to how many good parts are replaced using this flow chart before the real problem is found? Should Mazda engineers relook at this flow chart? Is there not any way a part can be checked to verify it is not working before ordering a replacement, only to find out there is not a problem with it? 4. Is there any data as to how many times Preston Mazda service department replaces parts to fix a problem in warranty claims vs. insurance claims? Was this taking advantage of an insurance company? I am very disappointed in the ability and integrity of the Preston Mazda service department. I believe in good faith, you should reimburse Allstate for the parts and labor of the first two incorrect attempts for fix the vehicle and apologize to Advanced Auto for blaming them for this repair fiasco. I have taken my car to mazda services in other locations with no problems, but at the Boardman location, everything went wrong. Normally, if a service requires anything beyond what you scheduled, they send a notification for approval and it shows up in your service history online. This time, I received no notification. The invoice also showed price changes compared to my previous visits, and they even tried to charge me for something that had already been fixed with no issues. The biggest issue was that after the service, they left my hood open and sent me on my way. When I returned two days later, they claimed the hood mechanism was loose, said it would continue to be a problem, and even added a repair quote. I emailed the service manager to explain that I should not be responsible for paying for an issue caused by them. The manager replied saying they would help me whenever I called, but I waited for my follow-up appointment to be set up so I could bring this issue at the same time and not have to go back twice. The employee who helped me said there were no openings for the next two weeks and promised to call me, but never did. This was the same person who tried to charge me for the hood mechanism replacement. Later, I found out my hood mechanism was never actually loose--it works perfectly fine. They tried to charge me for something that wasn't even an issue. It felt like they created a problem to cover up their own mistake and ignored my safety in the process. I will never return to the Boardman location and do not recommend this service center. read more

"BUYERS BEWARE", PLEASE READ, WORTH THE READ, I PROMISE... We all know the reputation that car dealers have and car salesman, right?! Well Sadly, Preston is NO different! I been in sales most of my life and I know better than to show excitement when buying anything let alone a vehicle... Well, I let my guard down because I trusted my "salesman" and opened myself up to why I liked this particular unique truck for a business I was starting... So after talking for a while, we got down to the price... "what will it take" he offered to take off over $837.50 and I asked for it to be $1587.52, not too far off to get to a $40,000 truck price tag... ... My "salesman" went to his manger and clearly must have told him he has a fish on the hook, or a slam dunk deal or how excited I was, or/also I had cash to pay if I decided to go that rout as well as told him I have multiple business (thinking I have money and will pay whatever amount for this truck) , so you can guess what happen next, right?! My "salesman" says nope can't come down at all now, oh but wait, he did say he could take of "$87.52"!!! like really?! Can you insult me anymore? OH! But yes, you can!! So as I told my "salesman" many times this evening, I will ponder my options as I have a couple vehicles to consider for trade, bank finance or cash...can you guess what comes next?! Here we go, his text message to me... My "salesman" - Copy and pasted his message to me - "hey Scott!! I wanted to thank you for stopping in!! I know you said you wanted to think about it and figure out which route you wanted to go... I did speaking with my management team and we are actually raising the price of the truck due to the market value of them... they will still honor that price for you for the rest of today but as of tomorrow, they will not... I wouldn't feel right by not telling you this and just letting it play out so I feel like I needed to tell you!" Like are you flipping kidding me?!?!?!? WOW!!!! MY REPLY - copy and pasted - "Nick, I really can't believe after everything we talked about that this is going to used against me! I don't "NEED" that truck. Yes, it would have been nice but I knew better than to be excited in talking about that truck (but I felt comfortable and trusted you) or when buying anything. That is life's rule 101. My bad! I will practice what I preach in the future. This is dirty and you be sure to tell your manger I said so and it will not stop here! This is why you car dealers and salesmen get the reputations you all have. You all Should be ashamed of yourselves!" SOME dealers and "salesman" deserver the negative reputation... Went in to get an oil change and a tire rotation. One of the wheel studs ended up flattened out on top. They tried to charge me $150 to fix it. Parts are less than $10 and would have taken them 5 minutes to fix it with the tires already off for the tire rotation. They were the ones who most likely broke it seeing as they were the last ones to do an oil change on it and rotate the tires. Didn't have them fix the wheel stud. Went to pay for the oil change and rotation and they tried to charge me $115 for it. Online it was quoted for $60 for a full synthetic oil change and $20 for a tire rotation. Ended up being $87 with a $15 coupon that I had. This car only takes 5 quarts of oil so should've been close to what was quoted. Service lady said that the estimate was only for labor, not parts. Changed out the wheel stud when I got home. This was made much harder from them over tightening the lug nuts. Only go to Preston Mazda if you want to be overcharged for subpar service. Might just be a Mazda thing. Mazda in Kent is no better. read more

Sorry I wasted my time with this dealership on my search for a new Mazda CX-30. I searched through the military's PX (post exchange) and found the TrueCar service for internet pricing. This dealership responded to the TrueCar internet search with a TruePrice of $36,770 which included a $250 doc fee and stated that this total represented "estimated total after dealer fees and accessories". I test drove the car and told them I wanted it. Fifteen minutes later the sales person came out with my "offer". The dealership had added a $2000 "MARKET ADJUSTMENT" WHICH HAD NEVER BEEN DISCUSSED BEFORE. One hour later I went back to the TrueCar website and found that the dealer had just added the $2000 Market Adjustment to that site. I believe that they knew they were wrong and added this after the fact to try to cover their tracks. TrueCar followed up with the dealership on several occasions to try to resolve this issue but no one from the dealership responded. The good news is that I finally found this car at a different dealer without any markup. read more

we were very pleased to begin our process at Preston, we found a vehicle we loved and signed the papers and gave the down pay on the vehicle. they told us the vehicle would be getting put into the service department to fix two simple things.. a two days later, they called and said they had to send the car into get checked out for a recall , NEVERMIND THE FACT THEY NEVER MENTIONED US SIGNING THE PAPERWORK AND NOT BEING TOLD THERE IS A RECALL ON IT. They told us a day later that the car was UNABLE to be sold because the recall was not able to be preformed Due to other reason.. which is understandable However they are now refusing to give us our down payment back until the "check clears" which was a certified check in the first place. $2200 later and we now have to wait around for them whenever it's convenient for them. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.. they will screw you out of your money. read more

Thank you to the Service Manager, Steve Lapier, and his entire staff for verifying that the air pressure in my tires were solid. Due to a faulty tire pressure gage, I was unable to deterine if the air pressure was low in my tires when the warning light turned on. I drove to the dealership, was greeted by friendly team members, escorted to a siting area, and informed within minutes that the tire air pressure was at its proper level and the temperature drop had caused the warning light to appear. The team clearned the warning light, serviced my car without charge and also washed my car. What amazing service! This is the best dealership. read more

Terrible dealership to deal with, everything was done in a totally unproffeaional mannor, from everything down to the finacing to everything, purchased a used vehicle from them with a 30 day 3k mile waranty after day 2 i called them with problems i was having and got the run around and was told i would get a call back from thier garage. Never got a call back, attempted calling 3 more times for the same effect. Ended up fixing the issue on my own out if pocket. Also when i purchased the vechicle i was told i would recive 3 free oil changes, which i never recieved. So my wife and I have been searching for the right pre-owned certified car for months and have visited dozens of dealerships from Pittsburgh to Wooster Ohio. Then my wife said why don't we look into mazdas. She was on kelly blue book this past weekend and discovered a vehicle that fit EVERYTHING on our list. We drove from Pittsburgh to Boardman and were feeling nervous about the price negotiability, if our trade in would be valued well and the overall experience. Well, there was ZERO haggling over the price, they gave us TOP DOLLAR for our trade in, and were not pushy whatsoever. Went to Preston Mazda on Saturday to look at a vehicle. We found a vehicle and were going to trade in our current vehicle. Brian D. , the salesman, and the finance manager kept us there for 3.5 hours. At 3:15pm, he said he had a possible approval but it was too late and all the bank supervisors were gone. Also he said he was waiting on a local bank that was now closed. Brian informed me he would be calling me back on Monday early. I did not hear from him at all. I sent an e-mail and called Monday afternoon. Still have not heard from him or the finance manager and it is Tuesday evening. Needless to say, I went to a New Castle Preston dealership on Monday, picked out a vehicle, worked a deal and was out with a new car in less than 1 hour and a half. Took 15 minutes to get an approval. What's wrong with this picture? I will never go to Preston Mazda again. Maybe the finance manager needs some retraining and the salesman needs to learn better customer service. I took my 2010 Mazda in to have the service department check my air conditioner in my car. I was told that Inspection and repair should be covered by warranty since the vehicle was under the mileage and age limits.Of course upon calling the next day to see when I could pick up the vehicle, I was told by the service manager that repair to my condenser was not covered because of damage to condenser when the car had been previously backed into.I recently had an oil change and inspection a week prior to the AC going out and no damage was noted by that technician.In addition to the Service dept. checking the air, they were also supposed to do a Mazda recall repair. I was very unsatisfied with the Service manager's attitude from the onset of our conversation and feel that the supposed whole in my condenser may be somewhat suspect.Also i didn't think that I should have to pay for the recalled clip that was installed, since that was a recall by Mazda. Why does it always seem that no matter what warranty exist for your vehicle ,the expense is never COVERED!I was told that even though they couldn't repair it due to damage, i must pay for the Labor and diagnosis fees. Needless to say I,m not very happy with my experience At this Mazda Service dealer. read more
