Kyle had helped Marne when she was just "window shopping" one day and had no intent to buy. He was kind and helpful to her, even though he knew that he had no immediate gain. I purchased a Subaru in 2018, with a full warranty that included oil changes from a dealer that I moved away from. It was too great a distance to travel for oil changes. I had visited other locations as well and never paid a dime for an oil change. Today, my Forrester was taken in for an oil change by my partner, and they said that they could not use my warranty because it "didn't include oil changes". I provided my warranty information (even though it's associated with my account and has always been) and they were prepared to process the oil change and charge me money, something that I am not required to pay under my warranty. I guess someone didn't want to do their due diligence and follow up with the other retailer or just didn't know how to do their job. Guess that's the unfortunate state of the workforce these days. It's unfortunate that this is the closest retailer to me, I'll now have to travel twice as far to the original retailer to get the service in the warranty I've purchased. Avoid. read more

If I could give 100 stars I would. Ryan, the salesman over at Rob Fellman's Boardman Subaru. He did an outstanding job with me. He wen't above and beyond. He went way above and beyond something that other salesman won't do. What I mean by above and beyond Is he took me out to the lot showed me his 2020 WR Blue STI out in the parking lot he let me sit in it and he let me check it out. He revved it for me and I revved it too. I asked to see a new 2024 WRX outside it was a Limited model in WR Blue one of the beautiful colors on the new WRX and he went above and beyond again and went in and grabbed the keys and let me sit in it let me start it up and revved it and let me check it out. In the showroom I told him all about the specs on the TR model in the showroom. Again he let me pop the hood, sit in it and check it out and all that. He gave me a 2024 WRX brochure and I got myself some 2024 model brochures that I haven't had before. This is how every dealer should treat their customers. But a salesman isn't and doesn't have to do all that. The purpose of selling the WRXs and other Subarus on their lot is to sell them not open things up, firing them up. But I realized Ryan didn't have to do that. I just know he was an outstanding salesman, I love him and if I wanna see Subarus at a dealership in Ohio I am definitely returning. We almost bought a Forester here but my mom wasn't comfortable in the driver's seat. So we went to Toyota of Boardman and bought a 2023 RAV4 LE FWD. We still have it and it's a beauty rather be in the Forester but I realize that Toyota will last longer than a Subaru because Toyota is one of the longest lasting cars in the world. But if I am seeing a Subaru again I am coming here. Better than Ken Ganley on the Bedford Automile and North Olmsted, Brunswick Subaru in Brunswick, Serra Subaru in Akron and other Subaru dealerships in Ohio. Bought my crosstrek here and usually have my oil changes and tire rotation done here. Twice I brought up noise issues. First time I told them it sounded like bad wheel bearings. I was told it was my tires. Ended up being 3 bad bearings and my muffler had rotted off. Needless to say I didn't have to pay for any of the repairs. Second time I took in for a squeaking noise. Was told I needed new control arms and back brakes. For a total of $3000. I took to two more mechanics and both said there was nothing wrong with the control arms and they had never seen control arms that needed replaced on this vehicle. I did however need front and back brakes. So I suggest if they give you a high priced repair, you should definitely get other opinions. Also I believe a lot of their mechanics are young and inexperienced. Also upselling fake repairs!!! read more

I made an appointment to get my winter tires switched over and an oil change. Got there at 10:30. At 12:15, I went up to the desk and asked what was going on. I was a little annoyed; I had another appointment at 12:30 and had figured that two hours was plenty for what I had scheduled. They said that the front brakes needed replaced; I said I didn't have time today, so they said they would get everything ready for me to go. Ten minutes later the car was ready and washed, and I finally got the bill. For nothing. $0. Oil change and four tires changed, $0. I didn't ask for anything; they just could tell I was annoyed - and they did something to make an annoyed customer into a very happy one. I've bought two cars here; my son has bought one. I'll be buying my third next year, and you'd better believe it'll be from Boardman Subaru. read more

Service stinks! I like the Subaru and the selling part was fine. However, one of my must have on a new car was a remote start. I was assured they would put one on and the car would be ready when I arrived. I made it very clear I would not sit for hours waiting to complete paperwork etc. After completing the paperwork in an acceptable time frame I was told the car was going to go back to have the remote start installed. After waiting more than an hour and my frustration becoming evident, someone went back to check on it and said it would be completed shortly. Some time after that I was told the remote they had was defective and they would have to order another; I would have to bring the car back. My displeasure showing, they said they would come to my house, leave me a car and take care of it once the part arrived. Which they did. Now, my purse was stolen with the car fob. I called to get another since I like to have a spare. They had me pay first over the phone before they would order it. They said it may be in the next day, it not, the following day and I would receive a call so I could come in for programming. Six days ago the money was taken from my account, and the key is still not there. When I trade this one in, it will be at another dealership due to the service. read more

I bought my Subaru in Chicago and when I moved, this became my new service center for my forester. I have been continually given the wrong information from here. I called one time to see how long my warranty was on my car, the service center employee told my 100,000 miles power train. After asking him again if he was certain, he said yes. In addition to him being wrong he was also rude and condescending. I even offered my VIN number. When I called the dealership where I bought the car, they told me it was only 60,000 miles power train and they weren't sure what the Boardman dealership was trying to pull. When I came in to get an oil consumption test, they told me to come back when I had driven 1,200 miles. I came in right at 1,200 miles to check the oil levels, a service employee checked it said it was fine and then told me to come back in 1,200 more miles. So I came back in when I drove 2400 miles as instructed. Apparently the service employee that had checked the oil level at the initial 1200 did not record my visit and so I my consumption test was ruined. So I had to redo the test and pay for another oil change. I will not be buying another Subaru solely so I don't have to deal with the poor customer service at this dealership. read more

My first dealership car purchase ever-at the tender age of 28. It was about time. And I went at it full force, looking for a WRX. I showed up at Boardman, coming in from Pittsburgh, with every intention of buying a car that day. I walked in asking for two specific cars that I saw online (a used Outback and Impreza WRX). The salesman helped me right away, got the cars out and let me drive. They were never awkward or pushy. I could not decide which one I wanted so they ran all the numbers for both cars. I didn't decide until I literally signed the paper. They were totally cool with all my qualms and negotiations. Their prices are already quite competitive, so don't think you're going to get too far, but they're willing to talk through everything with you. Everyone was quite nice and accommodating. They got me a good interest rate (even better than what I walked in with from an external source) and I ended up going with their financing. The process was fast enough, considering, but I never got frustrated. I had to drop my rental car back in PA so they had two of their employees follow me for 30 minutes in the rental. I was very pleased. Since the purchase, I've had some title issues. They keep in touch with me and are trying to help even though they are in Ohio and I'm in PA. All in all, good selection-used and new-nice people, clean cars, and excellent service. Worth the 1.5 hr drive from PGH! read more

Took my car in for a small leak. A few hours later they quoted me new hoses, radiator and head gaskets. The thing is, I had the radiator pressure tested and I know its good and the hoses are a year old and not leaking. They gave me a quote for 4k. When I confronted them about the extras being tacked on, they quit talking to me and moved on. Got the job done for 1500 NOT 4000. I cant imagine how many people just pay for it and move on. read more

Went to Boardman Subaru with a friend who wanted to buy a used SUV that we found online. My friend told the sales rep and the manager that she was already pre-approved thru her credit union. I could not stay for the whole transaction, but after i left, they pressured her into considering other finance options and she ended up getting worse deal from a different finance company. The dealerships get kick backs from their preferred lenders, so they want you to go with those lenders. Boardman Subaru was going to do whatever it took to not go thru her credit union (who do not pay kick backs to dealerships) My friend needed a co signer on the loan, and they actually put the whole loan in the co signers name, as well as the title. They looked my friend in the face, smiled and lied. She ended up redoing the deal thru her credit union, with more than a full point lower interest and a lower payment. Like Megan P., I too traveled from afar to purchase my vehicle. I was visiting Pittsburgh at the time and, long story short, my old car broke down on the road so I needed to replace it unexpectedly and away from home. Only a quick 60-mile drive from Pittsburgh. I came here since no other dealership in PGH had the specific new car in the color and features I wanted (not Cochran nor Day). I made an inquiry online on a Saturday evening. Actually got a call on Sunday, despite the fact that dealerships are closed on Sundays! The next day Monday morning, I called Boardman to make sure the vehicle was still in stock - it was. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Dave Richards. He already had the specified vehicle pulled up in front waiting for me. We went for the test drive while he thoroughly explained the car's various features. He wasn't pushy at all and we had pleasant small talk conversation during the drive. I was ready to buy. He immediately beat another dealer's quote that I had in hand for the same vehicle, so no back-and-forth haggling needed on my part. Not an Ohio resident? No problem! They will file the out-of-state paperwork on your behalf (as they had to for me). The financing took a bit of waiting, but that's to be expected with pulling credit reports and whatnot. Patrick Gorman handled my financing part, and that went smoothly and swiftly once my credit was pulled. He even got me a lower interest rate than what was advertised for my vehicle (excellent credit helped though). All in all, the entire process from when I stepped into the dealership and drove away in my new car took 2 hours flat. Pretty quick if you ask me! Although it's unlikely I'll ever return to Ohio for the free oil change that Dave offered, I will surely take him up on the at-cost pricing for car accessories (including shipping). My registration/title paperwork was handled by Courtney McLane. Although I never met her, she was super friendly/helpful the both times I called to follow up on my out-of-state paperwork. Not that she was late or anything, I'm just impatient! This is only the second new car I've ever bought, but I can't imagine this experience to have been any more efficient or satisfactory in terms of time and money. It was just amazing to know that not all dealerships are really not bad after all. Despite all the troubles we've been through it turned out well. Thanks to Steve Engster who did above and beyond to fix the problem. Our car was brought in to one of our dealerships here in Cali and he took care of everything as far communicating with one of the service advisor. Repairs are done and got the car back and didn't spend not even a penny from our pocket. Now I can say I recommend this dealership to everyone. We are so disappointed in buying car from your dealership and I just wish we didn't make business with you at all!! We are stuck with a car that has a major problem that your salesman didn't disclose to us prior to selling the car.He took advantage to the fact that we will never find this problem until it get to us. It's so obvious that he knew about it because the problem will never occur right after we use it...it's never a coincidence! It should be ok if it's an easy fix but it's not. It's a shame that just to make money, you guys have to lie about the condition of the car. Apparently someone unplugged the battery prior to us buying it and it resets everything that's causing the engine check to appear and now it's causing us not to pass the smog check. Bought a used Subaru from here October 31st. Salesman was pretty good and worked with my wants and needs. I bring the car back a couple weeks later for a noise and smell (mind you they said that they had done the certified inspection on this car). They took care of the noise by a simple cleaning of the filter however they said they couldn't replicate the smell of something burning....fast forward a month later and I smell this almost everyday. If you like radio silence from your service department let me tell you this is the place for you. I went for three weeks of my car being with them without hearing a single word. I call in and am finally told of the issue and the person on the other end would not keep a conversation so I could actually understand what the issue actually meant. A week and a half later and no word....then when I call in they struggle to have any sort of answers. I leave a voicemail with the manager of the service department for him to also not respond. It took me showing up in person unexpectedly and repeatedly asking to talk to management to get a clear answer. This should've been fixed before I bought the car, or even when I brought it in the first time etc etc. Not bringing my car back here once I finally get it back from them. read more

worst dealership i have ever tried to do business with. I want to Boardman Subaru three times trying to buy a WRX. First time they did not take me seriously because I was a 19 year old kid, second time I was 21 and they did nothing but try to shove a brand new STI down my throat. Third time i tried was over the phone when the salesman Dave Richards ended up hanging up on me after being extremely rude throughout the entire conversation with comments like "do you even know what you just asked me?". I now own a 2014 WRX which i purchased from a different Subaru dealer. Boardman Subaru will NEVER see a dime of my money, ever. Have never had a worse dealership experience in my life read more

Although I'm about 3 years late, writing this review - I wanted to make sure these guys get the credit they deserve. I bought my BRZ there and it was probably the best experience I've had with buying a car. Although I did haggle a bit (respectfully), the salesman kept his tact and handled the transaction with great professionalism. I was up front with what I wanted and there was no beating around the bush from these guys. All in all, I think everything took about an hour and I was happily on my way in my new Subaru. I just wish they were located a bit closer because my experience with other, more local, dealers has been pretty terrible. I will definitely buy cars from them again. read more

I used their website to research the new cars inventory before going to the dealership. We dealt with Kevin, who was very helpful and knowledgeable. I told him which car I was interested in and he pulled it for me right away. Before going on a test drive, he explained all the vehicle features to me, including under the hood. Our test drive was pleasant and he wasn't pushy at all. Kevin did his best to get to the price that I was comfortable paying. We actually walked away to think about it and came back two days later. Kevin was still friendly and willing to help. He got us a great price, fair trade in value, and was very helpful with the financing part. After the paperwork had been signed, he spent time at his desk, going over the booklets and pamphlets that came with the car. He then took me out to the car and explained EVERYTHING! He went as far as programming my radio and phone, spending plenty of time making sure I was comfortable before driving off the lot. I love my new car and I was very satisfied with my experience at this Boardman dealership. I would recommend this place and this salesman to anyone! read more

They knew we were purchasing for children (and grandchildren) who were virtually without a vehicle and that we had to take it to Wisconsin. They did not tell us that they would hold the title for 2 weeks even though our check cleared the next day. EXTREMELY INCONSIDERATE OF OUR TIME AND FAMILY SITUATION. We could have paid with bank check or cash if they had told us they were going hold title because of a personal check that cleared my bank the day after we wrote it. read more

Over the years we ve bought 3 new Subaru Legacy and have done ALL their services at that dealership because my husband thought they are "such great guys". We had my son's 2005 and my husband's 2012 Subaru. In December 2013 we had 1400$ repair service done on our 2005 Subaru. Seven weeks later the car died on its way to the dealership. We had it towed there, and we were told it needed 1800$ work, we said ok. The next day Kevin called said " we ll give you 500$ for your car, we decided to get rid of the car. The next day when my husband went they had him sign the title over, they said I misunderstood there was a service charge. He was given no invoice/receipt. I thought that was a rather shady deal to just take the car and not honoring a verbal agreement. I called them, and reported them to the BBB, and 8 days later they send us an unsigned receipt that work was done to the car. (!). We accept the loss of the car , it happens. We also accept that may be the mechanics indeed they couldn't have forseen the impending failure of the car. But to stiff a loyal customer 500$ that is cheap not to mention poor business practice since we would have bought another car for our son. We ll never go back... read more
