First, they charged me over $850 for a "diagnosis" (about 2 hours of work) where they used a video snake to determine there was a blockage from grease. The technician gave us two options in a PDF and suggested arranging an additional appointment for jetting the pipes. I called the company back over the weekend and told them id like to do the jetting. The email regarding the jetting quote said "When you would like to book one of these services, please give our office a call at (781) 706-4682!". There was also a link to sign on the PDF quote but it was invalid so I called instead. The second visit was even more pathetic. The technician showed up completely unprepared, confused, and without the equipment required to actually perform the work he was sent there to do. He told me that since I didn't "sign the quote" they sent over he didn't come with the tools or second worker needed to do the job. Despite the fact that they couldn't complete the service, they still had the nerve to charge me an additional $125.00 dispatch fee for essentially doing absolutely nothing. After wasting my time and money, I finally brought in a real professional who actually knows what they're doing. The problem was solved within an hour and a half and I was charged $300. Do yourself a favor and use a reputable local plumber because big companies like this just take advantage of hard working people. I am a first responder- I work hard, long hours to make average pay and this was a huge hit for me and my partner. Blue bear is the most incompetent service experience I've ever had. Buying a mini-split system is an incredibly difficult process. The Mass Save rebate system is very…read moredifficult to navigate. I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!

Where do I start? In mid-June of 2026 both our upstairs and downstairs A/C systems were completely dead. Bob Fleming came to the rescue in a big way! It was H-O-T hot! And it was very uncomfortable to sleep upstairs with no A/C. We decided to install a SEER20 Bosch 36k BTU Bosch heat pump A/C system, which supplies both A/C and Heat at a cost effective rate. It was a big project that also required replacing the air handler in the attic. Since this wasn't going to happen overnight, Bob went out of his way and bought 3 new window AC units for us to use upstairs (which he installed) until the work was completed. He didn't charge us a penny for these. He let us borrow them for free! That bridged the gap perfectly. The new A/C system works perfectly! It's quiet, efficient, and very professionally installed, along with a smart Ecobee thermostat that I quite like. The heat pump also supplies heat during the winter. Bob smartly set it up so that it automatically uses the heat pump when the outside temperature gets down to as low as 35F. If the outside temp goes below 35F, then the energy source automatically transitions to our pre-existing natural gas system. Supposedly that's the sweet spot to use both systems as effectively and cost-conscious as possible. It's brilliant! Bob also reinstalled our old A/C lines that went to three different mini-split systems on the first floor. He professionally pressure tested everything, and it's all working perfectly. Bob was so polite, asking whether it was okay to work past a certain hour as he wanted to get the job done as quickly as possible, while also respecting our family's privacy. He cleaned all of his work up leaving nothing behind. That summer, I felt in a strange way that Bob became an extension of our family. He was so polite to all of us. We thoroughly enjoyed having him around the house, and completely trusted him. I am so fortunate to have found RLF Heating & Cooling. His reviews were fantastic. Michael had said it would take 3 days to install and it took 3 days. He arrived on time every day and worked all day in the very hottest of days. He pushed to have me agree to go ahead with this pricing that would be later refined. I told him I could receive his proposal but when he realized I was not going to agree to his immediate signing and that I would be shopping around, he decided his chances would be better if he worked directly with my daughter. That price seemed far to high so i called a plumber I had used in the past and he looked at the boiler this morning. He got it running in about 30 minutes and said it just needed maintenance. We were unable to get all zones working since some radiators had burst. He said we do not need a new furnace. Even if we did, he said he could replace it for $7,000. Had to call back again at 9am. This time got the office. The woman on the other end couldn't have cared less that my basement was flooded, I had no heat or water, that we're regular customers and that no one called back. She said the tech was on vacation! So why have a calling service if you're not going staff it appropriately or care to respond? Frankly if the tech called me back and said he was on vacation I would have been fine with that so I could have moved on to another emergency service sooner. Good service and communication really isn't that hard.
