I had a terrible experience at The Thinking Cup at Boston Common. On my first visit, I ordered a lox bagel sandwich with cream cheese and smoked salmon. The lettuce looked old, the tomatoes weren't ripe, and although I asked for it to be cut in half, it wasn't. The quality was so poor that I ended up throwing it away. During that first visit, I asked one of the employees if he was the manager. He said he wasn't, but that he "should be." A few days later, I decided to give them another chance. The cashier was pleasant, so I tipped--but the experience quickly went downhill. I ended up speaking with the same employee who was there during my first visit, working behind the counter. He was a male in his mid-to-late 20s with facial hair and said his name was "Jack," although based on his rude behavior, I have no reason to believe that was his real name. After speaking with him, I now understand exactly why he isn't--and shouldn't be--the manager. When I explained my previous experience, he responded, "I really don't care." I was shocked. He repeated it multiple times, was rude, snapped at another employee, and refused to provide any manager or corporate contact information. At that point, I lost my appetite. After leaving the establishment, I gave the sandwich away and fed the lemon bread to the pigeons. The only bright spot was the cashier and another female employee, who were both polite and professional. Even as I was leaving, they kindly said, "Thank you, have a nice day," and seemed sincere. Unfortunately, one person's behavior completely ruined the experience. I will not be returning and would not recommend this location. read more

3 Stars for a good protein smoothie bowl, but meh customer service and a truly filthy bathroom. I was looking for a quick, healthy bite while doing some window shopping in the area and saw Pressed Juicery had a small location a few steps down from the sidewalk, with outdoor seating. Since it was beautiful outside, this looked like the right spot! They also had a poster highlighting their Protein functional bowl, so I knew my order. As I walked in, the staff member at the counter was on her Bluetooth headphones and having a full conversation with a friend while simultaneously trying to take down someone's order. It was confusing to everyone involved and took some time. Same when I ordered, and it looked like another friend had come in and joined her behind the counter to chat (didn't see any sign of this person working there, but I may be wrong). Oh well, a bit of an awkward ordering process is not a big deal. The bowl itself was actually really tasty. It was a bit sweet for my taste, but it was large and satiating. I'd definitely recommend! Quick note that if you are needing the bathroom, I'd wait until your next stop. It was one pretty dirty stall and left me wondering if I should have eaten there... I ordered a cleanse online and when I went to pick it up the juices were not being cooled for who know how long and were all warm and I also added an celery juice to the 6 juices in the cleanse. I see there are only 6 juices I mention that to the woman working behind the counter and she gives me attitude saying I will give you one for free, so I said no it's not free I paid for it you forgot to give it to me, and then two guys working there also giving me attitude and says what one do you want and shoves it in my hands. I'm fully convinced that this store (and company as a whole) is doing everything in their power to NOT sell their products. You have no idea how many second, third, and one-hundredth chances I've given this horrible store only because they have good products I can't get anywhere else. But boy, does getting your hands on them come at a price. The customer service line does anything but let you get on the phone with your local store to ask if they have what you want in stock. Which I assure you is necessary because they are almost always out of stock of everything and don't tell you on the app, so you end up needing a refund. A refund that turns into a twenty-minute chore of dealing with the aforementioned customer service line which is a horrid, automated maze of unhelpful options. Moving on to the actual store, which is equally as terrible. I should preface by saying that once in a blue moon there have been nice, efficient workers who get my order right. Which should be the bare minimum. However, I can't deny that most of the time I go I encounter one of the laziest, indifferent workers I've ever laid eyes on. Twice I've scheduled an order ahead and arrived later than the scheduled time just for the store to be empty and the worker to be sitting there doing nothing with my order not even started. It takes me asking if they had it for them to finally get off their behind and start it. And today's experience was the final straw that made me leave this review, which I'd been considering writing for ages of dealing with this store's incompetence. So I got in line and witnessed several people leaving due to how long it was taking, and these people were even *next* in line, that's how exasperated they were. I went to order my freeze and was told that (unsurprisingly) they didn't have the flavor I wanted, so I had to tell the employee twice what alternate flavor I wanted for her to slowly start making it. I had to correct her on various simple details of my order at least three times and the only thing she was in a hurry to do was to remind me to tap my card on the iPad before the order was even done. After what was probably the most lethargic freeze creation process in Pressed history, I asked for a bag and was HANDED a flattened bag with the freeze on top for me to put in myself. Not once have I ever seen an employee too lazy to put one item in a bag. Fortunately I am smart enough to know how to put something in a bag on my own, but it was just the cherry on top of the whole experience. Will I keep going to the store? Probably. But I will certainly dread it every time because I know there will ALWAYS be something: whether it's having to argue with a robot for a refund, walk out empty handed because everything is out of stock, or deal with a lazy and/or rude employee who makes a face when I respectfully correct them for getting half the order wrong. All in all I'm saying that Pressed needs to fix their app and customer service line so they're actually usable, as well as make their Freeze machines work for more than half the time. And hiring employees who actually look like they want to be there (or at least do the bare minimum) wouldn't hurt either. read more

I am not really into juices, but I was really glad to give this place a try (thanks to yelp's check-in event!) I got a freeze ( a healthy alternative to ice cream) and a juice (citrus 2). I thought the freeze was just okay, but I have a huge sweet tooth so probably not that cut out for vegan ice cream. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my juice-- I found it to be really refreshing that I downed the whole thing in a few gulps!! If you are a health nut, I can see why you would love this place. They have a variety of options to satisfy all sorts of tastebuds! However, for people who are less inclined, I can see this place being a tad too expensive. But I do appreciate having this place as a healthier alternative to ice cream or smoothies/sugary drinks and my visit has made me more mindful of the ways that I can try to healthier! read more

I've been a longtime Pressed Juicery fan, although at the Westlake Seattle location on the West Coast. Now that I live on the East Coast I make a point to try and stop by the Newbury Street location every time I'm passing through Boston. Greens 1 and Roots 3 are my favorite juices -- the first is great because it doesn't have any fruit sugars and the second because it has the kick of ginger. It's usually around $6 for a juice, but sometimes they offer a bundle of 4 for $20 (sometimes even with a free cooler bag!). My only complaint is that I've visited in the summer and they have literally run out of the vegan soft serve freeze flavors, which is disappointing. The matcha flavor is not very good because it has way too much kale, in my opinion, but I enjoy the strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. They pair especially well with almond butter, slivered almonds and berries. This location specifically is kind of odd (it's in a basement) and there is no indoor seating area (though there is patio space outside with tables and chairs). It's been really worth it to join the frequent customer club (you give them your email and phone number); I would recommend it for more frequent customers. Just this weekend I went and was surprised to find out that my juice was on the house! Honestly, I love this place and hope they might open a location in Providence one day. read more

Walk down the stairs of 288 Newbury and you'll find yourself in a brightly lit space with plant products known as Pressed Juicery. I had a good experience coming here. the staff were friendly and helped me decide what to try and what toppings I wanted to get for my plant-based soft serve. The ice cream alternative was good but I do prefer the creaminess of good old fashion ice cream. I guess as a stand alone product it does satisfy the same cravings but it's quite expensive for the same amount of ice cream. I am hoping that these plant based option could be more of a fro-yo style pay by weight style service. The juices are good and I've had a couple fo the juices but Green#4 is my favorite. It took some time to get used to the taste but after a while it became my favorite. Overall, I am not too sure if I'd go to pressed juice on a daily basis. First time at a Pressed Juicery and thoroughly impressed, especially the pineapple freeze. I expected to see a yellow color because of the pineapple, but it came out brown. At first I thought they gave me chocolate but they said it was pineapple. I was hesitant but it was a nice treat! It was plant based and very refreshing to eat . The rose lemonade was what you expected, rose and lemonade with pieces of dragonfruit. I love ice cream so I was skeptical at the idea of "vegan" ice cream but it was absolutely delicious (I got the chocolate/vanilla swirl) and I topped it with blueberries, granola, and raspberry drizzle. The juices are also great but I really only tried a couple. The Greens 3 was very drinkable and I definitely felt good afterward. The only thing I didn't love is that their membership was confusing. The freezes are awesome, a great healthy alternative to ice cream as all options are plant-based soft serves. The thing I don't love about Pressed when compared to other places is that the juices are in fact pre-bottled and not as fresh as other city. You cannot choose what goes into the juice, which is a bit disappointing. had the green juice 4. It was very tasty. The cayenne pepper in the juice is an awesome addition to spice up the otherwise average tasting green juice. The associate working was particularly knowledgeable and eager to assist, which I greatly appreciated. As I mentioned before, the freeze was awesome and I was lucky to find my favorite as I was able to taste test every flavor. Also helpful tip: you can mix flavors! If nothing else, get the pecan praline topping! All in all, Pressed has surprisingly become in my top three new go-to for dessert. read more
