My son had requested a piece of cut fiberglass from a hardware store on Douglas Avenue. This one is…read moreclose, so I go there, to see if they'd make the piece he wanted since I was there to get it & told them I'm not sure I'm at the correct hardware store.. Rather than look to see if they'd received any dimensions, the guy starts rolling on how they don't do these pieces ahead of time because sometimes people don't show up. Fine, I'd said that I figured they would wait until someone was there. Gave them my son's name, and the guy repeated himself about not doing it ahead of time, and if they had anything, it would be written down (waves his arm). He didn't even look, so I said my son's name again. He keeps repeating that they don't do it ahead of time. I told him again, he would have called with what he needed, and that he'd send someone to get it. So he asks me what he needs, and I said again, I don't know, he'd called a hardware store on Douglas with what he needed, and I'm not sure if I'm at the right one. He asks oh, he's not answering? Um, no, I don't even know what shape he wants, and he starts arguing over only doing 90 degree angles... well, squares & rectangles are 90 degree angles, and they're different shapes, and I didn't have a size. I was asking if they had the dimensions that my son called in so they could do it, or do I need to go to the other store. If he didn't remember the name, and there's no paper, the appropriate answer would have been, "No, sorry, we can't help you". Yes, I caught it the 1st time when he said that, and he's arguing about how I'm repeating myself. I was asking if they had the dimensions my son called in, it's a yes or no answer... And if that was a yes, now they can cut it now that I'm here, but no, the dude wants to go on repeat about not doing it ahead of time. So when I finally said I'm not arguing with him, he called ME ridiculous, when he clearly wasn't understanding my question, as a native speaker of Midwestern English. A pre-ORDER is not the same as pre-MADE. Just like you can't get a key cut without coming in with a key, fine, they won't cut fiberglass until the customer comes in to actually buy it... but did they get the request or didn't they? The answer would have been a yes or a no. Not an argument of what they do or don't make at the store ahead of time or not. Their customer service really stinks back there. The cashier was nice, though.

Same great business, just a new location. The new Urban Wood Lab has more showroom space to display…read moretheir beautiful products & some of the best slabs of wood I've seen anywhere. The Urban Wood Lab Store specializes in producing high quality wood products from local urban trees. All of their wood comes from trees that were cut down for a reason other than it's timber value. Traditionally urban wood has gone to waste with much of it ground up into wood chips or cut up into firewood. Urban Wood Lab would rather save beautiful logs & mill them into usable products such as lumber, wood slabs, table bases, mantles & other creative wood products. I definitely recommend all artists, woodworkers, carpenters & wood enthusiasts to check this place out!
