I've been here twice and each time my experience was cool. There are cool accessories (i.e. key rings, water bottles, rugs, etc.), lots of "HOUSTON" paraphernalia (t-shirts) and other clothing as well as SHOES. It's definitely not the largest selection, but I can say that there is Quality to make up for that. The limited selection actually makes for a more exclusive experience.. feels good to feel like what you buy isn't going to be seen on everyone walking the streets. One of the best place to get the top streetwear and sneaker fashion. Really dope because they got the connects to get the latest trends but stuff usually is limited (sizing, stock) I also love the apparel they sell, and I get a few compliments anytime i rock it. I found a shirt I likEd and asked for a large and I got home and they had put a medium in my bag. With tHat said I contacted management and thEy did everything in their power to make the situation right. They offered me the chance to come in Sunday (( tHe day that they are traditionally closed ) and let me exchange for the large that I had ordered. The management contacted me via email the same night that I contacted them and even coordinated with me via text the next morning on a good time to come in. I was hoping they made this situation right because I have been shopping here with good exPeriences for over ten years. I love shoes. Being a sneakerhead in Texas is pretty hard. There are not many stores where you can find those exclusive kicks that you have had your eye on for quite some time. Premium Goods is your answer. I believe PG originated in the NYC and a Houston branch was opened here. They have most Urban streetwear lines ranging from Crooks & Castles to 10Deep. The prices are usually retail but sometimes can be inflated a little bit. The owner is a really cool lady who is always helpful and knowledgeable. If you are looking for ultra-limited releases, be sure to call ahead to see what sizes they are going to have. Sometimes other workers will buy the shoes beforehand and sell at a premium. Three years ago I would've given Premium Goods a five, but no matter how much we wish it really was '08 again, it is not. PG is located in Rice Village, on the corner of Times and Morningside. You can see if you're standing in front of Oh My Gogi!, for those of you that enjoy :) This was the place to go for the latest kicks. My friend randomly invited me along with him on his grand adventure of the 'Latest Kicks' and I'm glad I'd gone. The service was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. The selection was vast and mostly Nikes, which I adore but know absolutely zilch about. Now, PG looks scarce. Like a sad fellow that hasn't been fed in a very long time. The store kind of just feels dead. I walked in with my boyfriend and was not greeted by either of the two people working. We scanned the wall for their shoes which the variety has grown, I will say. I saw plenty of new brands and plenty of Nikes. But, the entire place just felt empty. Barely any racks of clothing, and a small table full of last size sales. When we got closer to the counter the women there finally realizes we're there and offers assistance if needed. It was very dark in there, too, so I felt kind of gloomy. It was a sad sad day for my memory of Premium Goods. I hope they get some light bulbs. read more

So my adventure begins with a coworker and I having a conversation while on break at work.... With both of us being avid sneaker admirers I begin to 'bust his chops' about failing to notify me of a particular Free Running shoe that was had released ;) Having low expectations I was going to get the shoe he urges me to call this store in Houston to check availability.... mind you we live in the Bay Area of Northern California.... So I get on my MacBook and look the store up, check the blog and see nothing.... so I decide to call. A gentleman answers and I explain my situation using a specific name for the specific sneaker.... he knew EXACTLY what I was talking about which surprised me mostly because over the phone 9/10 sneaker retailers would have not known which shoe I was inquiring of. So over the phone I was able to locate the exact sneaker I was looking for in my size and within a half hour I was issued a tracking number from fed ex.... my shoe will be her by the end of the week. On the never ending hunt to find a pair of Y-3 Adidas for the hubby (if you find any in a size 8, let me know!), we ended up at Premium Goods in hopes of finding a pair. They didn't carry the line, but we had fun looking through the store anyway. They had a wide selection of specialty sneakers that were pretty reasonably priced. I saw a few really hard to find ones behind the glass that were still in their collector's box from Japan that I'm sure were going for a pretty penny. They had two sections of sale shoes that were actually pretty cute! The store also sells clothing, though we didn't bother going through the racks. Though the store is tiny, they managed to pack in quite a bit of stuff to keep you busy with all merchandise. Sales people were busy and not overly helpful which is why there's a lack of a star. Well, that and having to deal with parking in Rice Village led to the one star deduction. The store itself is amazing. If you are what they call a "sneaker head" then this is the place for you. They had great sales on shoes that were just $50 and $75 decorated on tables in the center of the store. They have cool stickers and I am all about stickers! Cool thing: If you check-in on Yelp you get three free stickers! So while I was in the store with my friend (we came because it's Houston Appreciation Weekend) I decided to look around and see if anything caught my eye because I am not a sneaker head. They also carry many different styles in what I refer to as urban and trendy clothing. They had one of my favorite lines in there which is married to the mob. What caught my attention immediately were a brand of socks that I absolutely love and to my surprise they made them in baby form. I asked the salesman to grab me a pair so I could get them for my nephew. I expected him to go grab them happily. Instead he took the time to tell me his personal feelings about why I should NOT buy those socks for a child. He even told he how he doesn't even like the style of sock. Had I been a manager and heard one of my sales employees say this to a customer I would have fainted. One never loses a sale and if you don't like what your store sells maybe you shouldn't work there or keep your thoughts to yourself until you go home and put them in a work diary where you can go back and read them for yourself. Needless to say he didn't even get the socks for me. He walked off to help someone else and I asked another gentleman to get the socks and I bought them. For that reason alone I gave the store two stars because he actually made me uncomfortable. Now on to other important things for people that will go to this store. Parking can be a bit of a pain depending on what time you are over in Rice Village. Use the parking garage which will run you between $5 - $10 depending on how long you stay but if you happen to go eating make sure to get a validation ticket from that business so that you don't have to pay for parking :) read more

I've been to the Premium Goods store in Brooklyn (nice job again, Clarence). That is a store where a New Yorker sense of entitlement and Brooklyn hipster vibe fits (and is to be expected given the geography). But Texas? Nah. Couple this with the fact that I may also be a bit more well-traveled than the average Houstonian (due to my occupation mostly), and I'm quite sure this store has more of a "girly" twist to it. Even the men's shoes are estrogen fueled choices. Balance is key to keep it's appeal. This worked in PG's favor when it opened because it gave the place a warm feel (i.e. decor and design). But now it is a detriment. Might be the lack of input from employees (who I'm sure are very capable, even more so than the Houston owner). "Nice Kicks" in Austin is now the premier sneaker store in Texas. Premium Goods is just fit for a walk through if you're in The Village. MetroPark in the Galleria has more Crooks & Castles clothing, and more 10Deep as well. If another store opens in Houston (one that can actually pull off good customer service) with the sneaker inventory to match, then this one will be forgotten. House of Hoops has too corporate of a feel, but they have excellent customer service. Premium Goods seems content to rest on its' laurels and direct you to another store (House of Hoops, or Active Athlete). The recommendation of Active Athlete is offensive at best. How do you know your customers know anything about the sketchy areas Active Athlete does business in (or would even find what they are asking for there to warrant the trip)? Oh, right, that's why it's offensive in the first place. Something a typical Houstonian would know, or any savvy person would know by now. Wonder why she didn't recommend The Tipping Point (looking much better at this time btw). Moving along, I simply went online and ordered the three pairs of shoes I was looking for from a Chicago boutique. And, that's what I will be doing from now on (unless I go elsewhere). That is, unless I intend on getting my niece a pair of sneakers. Sad, because I directed a few "good" friends here (a local celeb or two also). But, it seems, they are beginning to share the same sentiments I have. Poor customer service, waning selection, mismanagement of store leverage. The beginnings of an EPIC failure. Sad to say when I walked in the store today, no one greeted me, not a big deal but I was actually ready to spend some good money there and NO ONE even attempted to help or ask if I was looking for something specific, and when I found something I asked the guy running the cash register if he had a certain size, he make eye contact with me and just asked the other employee to get me the size I needed.. I give them a one star today, which on any other many days I have walked in would have been a 5. So my sister bought me this dope camo shirt for christmas, but was too small. I live in clear lake so coming out to Rice Village isn't always very easy, or I don't have the shirt with me to do the exchange. I called a few days ago and they mentioned a holiday return policy. I was excited so I drove at 6pm through traffic to make it five minutes before closing. I get there and tell him my situation. I didn't want a refund just and exchange for something I could actually rock and wear. I was told that the cut off date was the 13th. Which was two days ago. I asked if there was really anything to do, and he said unfortunately no. I'm a lead in retail and it's upsetting that a two day difference is a hard no. Now I'm stuck with a shirt that doesn't fit me. But what's more upsetting is that I put SO MANY people onto premium, and I recently bought so many Christmas gifts for friends there. Im not gonna say that I'm gonna stop wearing or shopping there, cause that would be a lie. But for a shop that I love going to when I can, this was a let down. Two thumbs down. read more

I have been in the store before and I bought a pair of sneakers and some clothing (a bunch of leggings and some shirts). They have always had a no-return policy on clothing, but I didn't mind because I could try things on at first. I always liked the clothing here, and they had a good selection of shoes. However, they never seem to have my size when I want to try shoes on (don't most women's sneaker sizes ru large anyway?). PG renovated the store this year with a new layout. With this, however, there is no dressing room and the return policy on clothing hasn't changed. I don't know why they took away the dressing room - I am not going to buy any clothing without knowing it fits first. I asked if I could at least put the shirt on over my shirt, and they said no. Welp, guess I won't be buying clothing here anymore - why bother? And with a limited selection of women's shoes and sizes, it's not worth the parking hassle to stop buy unless you're already in Rice Village for other things. read more

Place is small but u can find unique clothes, hats, or other paraphernalia with Houston on it. Also have a large assortment of bright, on of a kind kicks (shoes), and bags. Nikes, adidas...and other brands.. Bad thing about it is they usually are out of stock on common sizes and it takes about a month to restock. read more

Great little sneaker & streetwear shop in Rice Village. They get a lot of colorways & most of the big drops (STILL WAITING FOR THOSE ADIDAS CONSORTIUMS TO START SHOWING UP! HAHA!) great spot for Adidas Boost if you aren't sleeping, EQT, superstars, & Stan Smiths in both men's & womens. I don't wear much Nike, but their selection is good & I copped my first pair of J's from Premium Goods this morning (2017 Retro 1 Royals), long line & not everyone got a pair but there were no fights, no arrests. PG managed the line & everything they had moved in 15-20 minutes. Great shop, now going to be in my regular sneaker shop rotation. read more

I'm down with this place, they carry Stussy, have the requisite amount of hard to find trainers, a bountiful supply of exceptional revolutionary art, and a wide assortment of accessories. The authentic staff is wearing skinnier jeans than you, rocking a more ironic mustache than you, sporting way more RUN DMC'ier glasses than yours, their super bright trainers are (extra freakin'!!!) rare. I wasn't even sure if this place was open. It came to me as a surprise when I found that this store in in the same shopping plaza as Torchy's, which I have been multiple times. Also, it doesn't help that their website is not up to date and gives you very limited information. I was on a hunt for Jason Markk, which is a special sneaker cleaner solution that's popular among die-hard sneaker collectors. The website listed Premium Goods as one of the stockists so I decided to swing by on my lunch break. The store is a real sneaker boutique. They have a selection of streetwear e.g. BBC, Huf, and Stussy along with limited edition sneakers. My sneaker knowledge isn't quite up-to-date but this store clearly isn't a tier 0 store like Undefeated, Huf, Colette, Footpatrol, and DSM. They seem to have quickstrike (or equivalent) accounts for New Balance, Nike, Adidas, and Vans (I think they only have California, no Vault or Syndicate). I could see why people say the service is lacking (this is the friendship state, after all). I think the service is pretty much on par with all the "cool-guy" lifestyle boutiques like Supreme and Saturdays. I guess you are expected to know your stuff if you shop at stores like this. Also, I didn't see any unreasonable mark-ups on merchandise. Actually, my Jason Markk cleaner was less than the retail on the corporate website. read more

Slid through yesterday and it's def a one stop shop for gear and goods. Don't fux with The Galleria or any of those Zumies stores unless that's what your into. Very typical of any other boutique or SW store. You can find brands like 10 Deep. HUF. Undefeated. Nike Sportswear. L&D. Stussy. The Hundreds. etc. Shoe game was on point, lil sprinkle of everything from Jordan. Nike. Vans. Adidas and prices were more than fair IMO. Plenty of lids, socks, and accessories. As with any store or boutique of this nature, there's a certain etiquette to this sh*t. Do some research about what you want to buy before coming in. What more can I say about this store? They carry great brands and always have stuff in stock. Their shoe selection is on point. The only disappointment was having to wait for them to restock the Houston shirts! I was finally able to get a few different colors last time I was in! The downfall of this location is the parking- there is VERY limited parking in the lot and street parking is hard to get. I haven't been in since the remodel, but look forward to seeing the new spot. read more
