Last Day Dog Rescue is as good as it gets! We looked at many local rescues before choosing LDDR…read more LDDR was very thorough with their application process and really made it easy to find the right dog for our family. They have dedicated foster parents that get to know each puppy personally before putting them up for adoption. I was very impressed with this and it helped my family find the right dog for our household. We have a young family with two small children and LDDR helped us find the right pups to look at for our family. They also do a detailed in-home inspection to make sure your home is ready a dog. The adoption process was very detailed and led to a smooth adoption. They made sure that our puppy made a smooth transition into our home. We couldn't be happier with out experience with the Last Day Dog Rescue!

The selection here, as far as food, toys, litter, etc., is top notch. The store cat Leo is cool as hell and we were lucky enough to stop in for his birthday celebration/sale. My girlfriend and I work in Ann Arbor but live in Dearborn, and we decided to make the trip out on a weekend just to catch the sale, because not only was everything 15% off (cat products) , but the first fifty customers received goody bags. As expected, the goody bags came packed full of cat stuff that I know my cats are going to love. We are now at the point that my cats actually recognize the Pet Emporium bags and will try to sneak towards the bag and try to pull out various treats and toys. If you have a pet I highly suggest you stop by and check this place out. Your pets will thank you!!

I can only speak to my experience though, and I didn't have any problems. Lavender wasn't the best name for my cat but I sometimes think shelters give the animals lame names intentionally just so you won't feel bad about renaming them. I hadn't adopted a cat from a shelter in over 20 years so I wasn't in the loop on how current rates run but the cost seemed reasonable. There was a little room for me to make friends with the feline. She warmed up to me alright but was skittish and fearful for some time after I got her home. That's alright; they warned of this in her write up. She's likely been through a lot before landing in that shelter and it's been gratifying to slowly win her trust and affection. She's a great cat and we're going to be friends til one of us leaves this world. Staff was nice and professional. I have no complaints about this place.

Then much sooner than they originally said he would likely be adopted, he was adopted to another person 2 weeks after placed in facility by Livonia Fire Dept. member. I was told he wouldn't be open for adoption for ~2 weeks AFTER THAT. Everything with this organization is so secretive but then when they change their own plans, they don't bother to tell the prior owner. This is how everything got all messed up for me & the lady we thought would get him - she and her husband seemed the perfect match. Then all our plans fell through. Ruined what I thought would be the expected plan. I just pray this place had the knowledge & wisdom to choose the best person(s) for my Lil Guy. I pray & thank you, Dear Jesus.

I'm a bit upset because it's evident that the mom should be fixed, but it could be that no one in his neighborhood is aware of the practice. Even though this place wasn't able to help, but they were very helpful and sincere. I hope that the little family is safe from bad people, wildlife, cars, and the rigid weather. This organization treats their animals amazingly and truly cares about each cat they take in. The rescue is not your typical animal shelter which feels dingy and depressing. The rooms are clean, decorated, and filled with activities to make the cats feel at home. I adopted my own cat from the rescue two years ago and the process was straightforward and smooth, landing me the most awesome cat ever. Their petfinder listings and website show photos of all their adoptable animals, and their facebook page is kept very up-to-date. In my opinion, NBAR sets the gold standard for what an animal rescue should be. Of note, NBAR only has cats at their building- I believe they work with a dog foster organization and can direct people to adoptable dogs.
