My dog was attacked here during group play. He had multiple wounds including deep wounds that required veterinary medical attention. When I confronted the staff, multiple people told me that this is normal and nothing to worry about. They also told me that the dog that attacked my dog is allowed to come back and participate in group play. I don't feel like my dog is safe at It's a Dog's Life, and I hope that for the animals' sake, they change their policies to keep aggressive dogs out of group activities. read more

UPDATE: It's disappointing to see a grown woman and a doggy daycare owner try and pit spouses against each other. That goes to show what her ulterior motives are and what she's willing to do to "save" her establishment. As stated in my review, AT THE TIME our dog was staying there, the facility was not cleaned due to him contracting a stomach virus from his week stay (this was confirmed by our vet). This might have been due to the owner allowing over 100 dogs to stay for that holiday weekend, thus not caring for animals and cleanliness, but only wanting to bring in revenue and allowing way too many dogs to stay. Instead of apologizing for our dog getting hurt and scabbing on his legs (photos provided below) and the lack of care we received our dog in, she proceeds to attack me and my husband with her comments, just to protect her business. Though we did ask for some sort of compensation and our money back from our dog's stay -- considering he was sick, had fecal stuck on his behind, and had scabs on his legs, I believe any person would've wanted their money back due to poor care for their animal! It doesn't seem just to have someone horrible like Lisa V. take your money after allowing these heinous things happen to our dog. But of course, she would never allow any sort of compensation or assurance. Instead, she rather hang up on us over the phone and falsify information to make her and her establishment seem better than what they are. I have had several people come forth and state they have had horrible experiences with this place and owner, Lisa V, and it's nice to see the support from others! Needless to say, this owner is TOXIC and does not care about her paying customers or their fur babies. Please beware of this horrible place and take your fur baby elsewhere!!! read more

Our pup has such a great time at daycare. So glad we found this via google! The facility is giant with an indoor and outdoor area. They don't allow all dogs, which is good. Everyone that comes to play must pass a temperment test. On top of an amazing facility, the staff is super! Everyone that I have dealt with has been so kind. The only reason I am giving this facility a maybe/no is for their grooming services. This is the second time I had our dog groomed here and when I brought him home saw burn marks on his belly. The groomer did not contact me to let me know what happened and she did not bring him out when I picked him up. I called and asked to talk to her and she told me the blade was either too hot or dull. What was disturbing was that she did not come out to discuss when I picked him up. She made the situation worse by not telling me. I understand that things can happen while grooming but by not disclosing again made the situation worse. Did she think I wasn't going to see it. She also did not contact me to let me know he was ready to be picked up most likely to not have to speak with me. I do recommend the facility for daycare; however, as a result of the grooming experience and not being up front would recommend you seek grooming somewhere else. I also notified the facility on this as well. I recommend she needs more training with grooming tools. read more

Beware!!! Mind blowing the amount of lies that we have been told from this place. Here's my Google review. It's rare I give such a low rating. My biggest complaint is I rarely have seen my dog on camera during the 4 daycare visits here. Typically when I take my dog to daycare she is wiped out the rest of the night. That hasn't been the case when she comes home from here. I actually rarely see any dogs on camera and I've been randomly checking for weeks. When I mentioned this they told me they have them in another room that doesn't have cameras. I Asked to see those rooms and was told I was unable due to liability insurance. I'm in the insurance business and that made absolutely no sense to me. I prefer honesty over BS. I understand you may be low on staff...just say that. Update...the response to my review is funny. Very professional and business like...WOW!!! First...why do you call me by name if you didn't know who was posting this? Chris Besonen is my name in case you weren't sure. Also funny, the email you sent Danielle came after this review, not before. Even funnier the report card Izzy received said mostly good things. I think I'll post a picture of it to share. I am so disappointed in It's a Dog's Life Resort & Spa. I'm not a hard pleaser but I did expect more than what Lisa and Shawn were willing to provide. What did I expect? I had hoped to get a tour of the facility and be able to see the suite where my 2 puppies would be staying. I was told they do not offer tours "because of insurance". That felt awkward and uncomfortable but staff seemed friendly and I thought I would be able to check on the puppies in other ways. In multiple locations, the website says they have webcams: "Don't forget to watch them play on our HD webcams", "Watch your dog play on our 3 HD webcams", and HD Webcams in Playrooms - check on your pets during the day". I left to go out of town and then logged into the portal expecting to look in on my 2 puppies thru the webcam. When I couldn't find the webcams in the portal, I called and was told those were taken down months ago because of too many complaints. After their first night at the resort, I had hoped to get a review on how they did overnight. The "report card" included 1 picture of each dog and the invoice. I left a message for them asking about a "report card" and Shawn returned my call. I expressed my concern that I was not able to tour the facility, there are no webcams, and the "report card" was an invoice. Shawn told me I was welcome to take my dogs somewhere else and hung up. I then called and talked to Lisa (owner). Lisa was not receptive to my concerns, was not willing to hear how I thought the issue could be resolved, and again told me I could go somewhere else because they have 2000 clients who are happy. Lisa said the website does not state they have webcams (so I went into the website and took screenshots of 3 locations with webcams listed). The ironic thing is that I could have been happy if only they would have cared enough to hear my perspective...without being defensive and rude. Not sure what they are hiding. What can I say? This place SUCKS! The Manager/owner is a wicked abusive person to deal with on the phone and worst in person. I called in for an update by 3 pm in the afternoon because they touted how we would receive photo updates and a report card. The manager I assume is this Lisa V ( picture on site maybe 20 years old) told me it went spam and the problem was on my end in a very demeaning tone. Of course, we checked spam and of course no such email. She talked down to me during our first interaction within 2 sentences. When I arrived to pick up my puppy, she started in again where she left off insulting trying to continue her point. I told her I didn't want to discuss it. Boy did I set FIRE to this narcissist, she ordered me to go to the door continuing her rant. When I didn't comply instantly with her command she threatened to call the police. (Yikes lady, chill!) I replied go ahead and call the police. Well, she hung up the phone and came charging at me like the pit bull she is. She started pushing me with her hands out the door. She is a whole 5'3' 150 lbs and thinks she can manhandle me? I am 5'11'' 190lbs. Wow! All I could think of is she must be off her meds. Needless to say, if she treats her prospective customers this way how is she treating the animals and staff. Bottom line: Run for the hills away from this place. read more

If I am paying for my dog to play he should NOT be locked in a cage, having to pee & poop for 2.5 hours with them talking about he is on rotations & they bring him out for 45 of the 3 hours to play,( big dog play 9-12) he could have stayed at home!!!!!!!!! A rotation would be 1 hour in, 1 hour in a cage, that's a rotation! Yesterday, I had my 3rd altercation With Lisa the owner, she slammed the phone down on me & said to talk to Shawn, Shawn got on the phone was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo rude then proceeded to call my dog a fucking asshole, slammed the phone down on me. I was told I was crazy because I called to see where my dog is, IF YOU WERE DOING MY DOG RIGHT I WOULD NOT CALL!!!!!!!! I rushed to get my dog, they had him out at the door waiting for me...Shawn was outside smoking Lisa, Shawn and another employee were at the door with my dog telling me to get the fuck off their property. I was call a fat bitch, said I look like a man, My dog is again called a fucking asshole. I went to my car called the police, LISA the owner came & physically would not let me roll up my window. Shawn took off with his dogs clearly scared that the Police were coming & nearly side swiped my car. If these people treat a human being like this, image how they treat your pets!!!!!!!!!! I am not a disgruntled client, I am a professional in the medical field, with good sense! PLEASE PLEASE believe this & do NOT take your dog here for ANY services. I know my baby boy has been hit here also when he was a puppy & going thru the nipping stages!!!!!!!! Lisa pays her employees penny's & they have a revolving door as far as employees, even her own sister could not work for her. First off, i never said sorry for my wife's actions, i apologized for the situation turning into what it did, because i had to come in, in person after you hung up on me and her, without giving a reason why or if you would even call back. You chose a rude and unprofessional response to our concern and that's not okay. Secondly, it's not EVER okay to receive our puppy with poop in his butt still and puking as soon as he leaves, while being told everything was fine the whole time. Things may have looked clean but after taking him to the vet and seeing he contracted a stomach virus, I'd say there is lots of work to be done. Your facility needs to put animal care and safety above everything else so more dogs don't get hurt or sick. As a business owner you need to also learn to respect your customers MUCH more than you do now. I asked to tour the facility but oh no that's private and a liability. So why don't we ever see dogs on camera? Because... Dogs are never on camera! The only positive comments are from the owner. Absolutely the best place ever. I am so thankful to have such a caring staff to watch over my pup. They know us by name, they send daily "pup-date report cards" where they tel you how your dog is doing and post a picture of them playing with friends. I was hooked from the moment i found them online. The website is very professional and informative. I was asked to complete a very detailed application about my dog and then bring her in for a "free" evaluation. The other boarding facilities have charged for this. Since they are unable to provide tours, Nikki took videos and texted them to me. I watched Bailee during her evaluation and she had a great time. We ended up boarding her for 6 days and received a daily report card with photos and videos. All i had to bring was her food and treats. The staff truly loves what they do. Just a heads up about this place...... My dog got hurt there twice. Both times the people who worked there said they have "no idea" how it happened and they blamed the injuries on my dog. Also, there is no one at the facility overnight. That means if your dog gets hurt (like mine did) or if there is a fire or something else that goes wrong at the building, there is no one there to take care of it. The workers will have to drive to the building. Very scary situation to not have someone there even if they are watching from a monitor off sight (which I don't even know if they do). read more

We love this place. We used to pass by it every day on the way to work and when we finally got a puppy, decided to stop in and check it out. When we first started going, the company was still kinda in the beginning stages. Having bought out the original owner, the current owner was trying to make changes and really get the company name out there and known. It used to be (under the old owner), we never saw any cars there...or dogs for that matter. Now, there is always a stream of cars and dogs going in and out...and rumor has it, they are looking to open a second location! The facility is very clean and the employees are all total dog lovers...and know each dog by name. Unless of course you're a new client where they don't know you yet, the employees see you pull up and will have your pup checked in before you even get inside! Upon your first visit and after you submit all your dogs medical records for shots, etc., your dog is evaluated for their temperament and interaction with other dogs. Then they get assigned to a play group where they will have the most fun and feel comfortable. There are two big rooms with playground equipment where the dogs get to romp around. At least two employees are with them at all times and when there is an "accident", they are right on top of it and it's cleaned and sanitized pronto! The dogs even get nap times to rest and re-energize and have a lie down in their own personal cushy kennel...like the little Kings and Queens they are!! While It's A Dog's Life does board dogs, we haven't used that service yet so we can't comment. We do know they also provide grooming services as well as training for additional costs. Our dog loves to go there, loves all his playmates, and looooooves the employees! We can't recommend this place enough. They take the care and health of their charges very seriously and we feel very confident on their ability to keep our dog safe while we're at work and if you get nervous, you can watch them play online in real-time!! So happy and grateful to have found this awesome doggy daycare! read more

I started taking my 3 dogs to It's A Dog's Life for boarding purposes..... My dog's suffer from separation anxiety.... I'm not sure what Lexi, Haylee, Lisa, and Beth are doing but there is never a time that I've picked them up that they were relaxed and calm..... They slept the entire way home. Then, I tried daycare what a miracle. I'm a business owner too so my days are real long - it's nice not to have to worry about the pets socializing and being exercised. This place is FANTASTIC! Our dog has attacked other dogs on walks (a giant 12 lb terrier who thinks she is a Rottweiler! But, she is a rescue we got 9 years ago when she was 2 so we make allowances.), so we are extremely leery about our dog and other dogs. We have an upcoming trip, and with Covid-19, we do not want Rover or anyone else in our house during our absence. Since they have a FREE Greet & Treat, I had nothing to lose by trying it. They said they want to see if your dog is comfortable at their facility and the staff is comfortable with the dog. She did fantastic! I know this because I watched my dog practically the ENTIRE time she was there. Their Web Cams are AWESOME! During the lunch break, I couldn't see her, but she was out getting her liver pill and the staff got a break. In the afternoon, she did even better. Quite nervous at first and it took her until after 1 1/2 hours before she even sat down, but I was blown away by how amazing and wonderful this place is! I picked her up at 4 pm and she was asleep in the car in about 5 minutes. When we first arrived, the staff retrieved her from my car and they were all wearing masks. They are treating the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously and I appreciate that. Same when they brought her to me at pick-up. And, they reported that she was nervous at first, but warmed up. Exactly as I had observed. I am actually considering taking my dog to a Dog Park now because she did so well at It's a Dog's Life Resort & Spa! Love this place! My dog is always happy to be there. They have cameras that allow you to watch the dogs play. It's so nice when I am away to still see my dog and how happy he is. My kids LOVE that, too. One time I saw an employee blowing bubbles for the dogs. :) I've also seen them throwing toys for the dogs and petting the dogs while I was watching the live cameras. The dogs always look like they are having so much fun. I'm not as sad to leave my dog because I know he is in such good care. read more

If I could give a negative star rating for this "resort and spa" I would. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect by an owner (Lisa V) of an establishment in my entire life. After calling to inform the owner that my boxer yet again got kennel cough after being boarded there, she told me that it wasn't kennel cough and that my dog is just "stressed." Mind you, both times my dog has gotten kennel cough it was a confirmed case from our Vet at Lisner Animal Hospital in Novi. Instead of the owner just simply saying sorry and thank you for letting her know, she was aggressive, argumentative, and even had her facts about when my dog was boarded there wrong. After I became upset and told her I was disappointed in her lack of customer service and disrespect, she yelled at me that I was fired (whatever that means) and then hung up on me. There are too many other daycare/boarding facilities in the area that don't treat their customers like this. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone who cares about their fur baby. read more
