We've taken both of our dogs to get groomed at Premier Paws and each time has been an okay experience. We typically ask for a low cut to help keep our dogs cool throughout the year, so not a super complex cut. The most recent time we took our chihuahua poodle mix to get groomed, the groomer cut him on the crease of the back of the leg - this took place on a Monday. We unfortunately didn't notice the cut until Wednesday. Our dog is a senior dog (he's 12), lays around all day and doesn't really show symptoms of pain until it's really bad. When we picked him up to take him outside to use the bathroom on Wednesday, he cried in pain a bit so we naturally started to look around his body and noticed a cut. The only instance where this could've happened is while getting groomed. I reached out to the groomer via email that day requesting that either they provide us with a refund or they cover the vet bill. I didn't receive a response so I called the following day as they were near closing on the day we noticed the cut. Initially after requesting a refund or for them to cover vet costs, they refused and said they could only provide a 10% discount. After going back and forth with them, they reluctantly agreed to potentially cover the vet costs pending results from the vet bill. I told them that the earliest I could take my dog was the next day - it was a drop off appointment as our vet was booked for the week but they squeezed him in as I was concerned that the cut might get infected. Premier Paws responded and said, "we will only cover vet costs if you go to the vet today." I told them what I mentioned above regarding my vets availability and they responded with, "take him to the emergency vet and depending on results, we can take next steps from there." We just ended the call because they obviously didn't want to help us, they thought we were lying, and their responses were beginning to sound pointed and combative. Here's my issue: When I spoke to them on the phone about my the cut, they didn't seem forthcoming to want to help in general. They brushed off my concern and said "sorry, we'll give you a discount for next time." (I'm not going back after my dog was cut - why would I even consider this?) They gave off the impression that I was lying about the cut on my dog and/or was combative in their response to me. I have absolutely no problem for paying for a service, but when the service causes more issues attached with monetary responsibility then I think it's up to the company that did those services to be more sympathetic and willing to help with the issue they caused. Look, point blank, I don't want to argue with anyone or like having uncomfortable conversations especially with strangers. The rude conversation I had with them was unnecessary, and while they seem like for the most part they do an okay job, it's not worth having to potentially be a part of a petty situation like that again. Good luck to the rest of you! read more
