Do not really care what others say, I believe that if you treat others with respect and really just have conversations about what you need or are looking for they will be more than happy to help. Don't board your dogs here! Bait and switch and my dog came home with sores/open wounds (and they didn't bother to tell me)! I paid a premium for a "creekside cabin" which states (per their website) "each cabin comes complete with a flat-screen television, calming color scheme, and custom padded bed." The room my dog was in had no bed for almost an HOUR and the floor was soaking wet. I had to call them to tell them to give her a bed. The bed was just an elevated dog bed made out of PVC pipes. The paint was peeling off of the walls and the room looked like a prison cell. The creekside cabin is also supposed to have cameras. They don't tell you that the cameras turn off for about 9-10 hours a day. If you want to check on your dog between the hours of 9pm-6am, you're out of luck. I also paid for an extra package to have my dog taken outside to go to the bathroom more often. It also included pictures of my dog. They sent me pictures through the metal bars of the kennel where my dog looks distraught. When I picked my dog up and put her in the car, she smelled horrific, as if her skin was rotting. I went home and gave her a bath and her feet were all cut up, she had sores on her legs, and her feet were oozing/bleeding. I had to take her to the vet. Thank god I paid for the insurance here because they had to foot the $500+ bill. She had an ear infection on top of everything else, and had to take medication. When I told the manager about the bait and switch (the room looking like a prison cell), she laughed at me. When I told her my concerns, she said "we'll update the website". Don't send your dogs here. I'm still dealing with the consequences and it's now been 2+ weeks and a couple vet visits. read more

My dog Rocky always enjoys his time being boarded at My Second Home. They always listen to the instructions I leave them (food amount, when to give meds, etc.) and always take extra care of him because he can be anxious at times. I love having access to the outside play area cameras so I can still check up on Rocky even when we're apart. Misleading "Free" Night -- Beautiful Facility, But Watch for Hidden We brought our little Maltepoo to My Second Home because the rep on the phone explicitly told us a one-night stay would be free. What we found when we dropped her off was very different. The facility itself is modern, clean, and you can tell the staff care about pets -- that part was obvious and appreciated. The problem was the surprise charges and upsells that only appeared at drop-off and again at pickup. Playtime, walks, and basic activities were all listed as extra charges when we arrived. The supposed "free night" turned into an $80 bill at pickup. Staff told us it must have been a miscommunication with a new employee in training, but that doesn't excuse the lack of transparency. Pros * Clean, up-to-date facility * Staff clearly care about the animals Cons * Misleading phone communication about the "free" night * Numerous hidden fees (playtime, walks, etc.) disclosed only at drop-off * New/poorly trained employees passing on incorrect info to customers If you're thinking about boarding your pet here, be very careful when you make your reservation. Ask for a written itemized estimate that includes everything (playtime, walking, fees) and confirm any "promotions" in writing. I highly recommend My Second Home! Their staff is dedicated and knowledgeable about animals. I feel very safe sending my two doodles to day camp there. I also love they have camera where I can peak in on them and watch the fun they're having! Our dogs always come home exhausted! We've also used their boarding services. My dogs are well cared for and enjoy going. We've never had issues with day camp or boarding and we've been going to my second home for about a year. Actually, when I pull into the parking lot, my dogs go crazy to get out of the car to play with their furry friends. We have a gift card to this location, and the staff have been pretty great letting us know about the different amenities here. I can't really speak to boarding, as this location is a bit far for us. However, we hired one of their animal behaviorist/trainers to help refresh our 4-year-old dog on her various commands. There was some communication issues that led to a delay in scheduling for our first meeting, but our trainer dealt with it graciously and met us at the Franklin location. It's been really helpful to learn about different cues and encouragements to help our pup solidify her skills and not jump on people. I think this program would be extremely effective if you had a younger puppy that also needed a firm foundation of skills. Trainers do home consultations and visits, so timing and location is at your convenience. Based on your schedule, they'll also work on coming weekly or every other week. Again, this is primarily a review on their training services. I would say do additional research if you're looking to board your pets here. The front desk workers are pretty busy on the phone and in person, so it may take a minute to contact the location for any inquiries. read more

We made an appt. For 9:30 for our very tiny dog. We were very specific that he needed to be groomed asap, his feet slip through crates etc. so he shouldn't be caged long. the groomer said she put a few others ahead of him (what? Why? But we were already there), she said it would only be a few hours... over four hours + later, still no call and no one answering their phones, we drove back over, only to get a bunch of excuses but he wasn't even touched yet- 4 1/2 hours later! I said I would just take him and leave- they could have called, rescheduled but they didn't. Didn't seem to care he was caged for hours! It's three hours later and he's still shaking. My 12 year old German Shep/Collie mix, Chica has been coming to My Second Home since we moved here from NJ 4 years ago. My dog can be a little nervous around new people but the staff here have literally made it like a second home to her and take such great care of her. DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS HERE, and here is why. We were going out of town for 4 days and needed to board our 2 dogs. I made a reservation in late August for the weekend following the Labor Day weekend. There were multiple communications from MY SECOND HOME in Franklin, TN about putting down a deposit, getting my 2 dogs vaccination records, and confirming our reservation a couple of days before the stay. Additionally, I had multiple communications via text with some of the operations people regarding questions like what to bring up to and including the day before we dropped the dogs off. AT NO TIME DID ANYONE EVERY INFORM ME THERE WAS A CONTAGION IN THE FACILITY. We had our son bring the dogs to the facility and he noticed a sign on the door stating that some of the dogs had a cough and they were not responsible for anything that may or may not be contracted at their facility. I have some problems with this. First of all, getting notification from the front door left us no time to make other arrangements as we had a flight to catch. Secondly, the blatant non-accountability of the facility is just outrageous. My dogs were both properly vaccinated with all their shots, INCLUDING BORTADELLA, which is supposed to prevent "Kennel Cough". Both of my dogs contracted SEVERE cases of Kennel cough and have had to go to the vet and get medications, adding a couple hundred dollars more to my boarding experience. The cases are so severe that the medications are not really helping. The coughing is absolutely horrifying to hear them struggle with the coughing and breathing. Thank goodness neither of them died while in that place. When we had the dogs back home we noticed the severe coughing and I went to the facility the next day. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the non-accountability and lax communication about the contagion at their facility prior to boarding my pets. Every member of the staff I encountered seem to have a cognizant knowledge of the problem, but no one would admit it and kept saying that it could not be determined to be contracted from their facility. All I can say is that my dogs were VERY healthy before the stay at MY SECOND HOME and now they are VERY SICK. When we took the dogs to he Vet, he mentioned that he had been seeing cases coming out of this facility for over 2 weeks, which would have preceded my reservation. Again, no one ever mentioned that there may be a problem at the facility. Completely irresponsible and a health hazard for my pets. We have given My Second Home more chances than we should but I hope no one else makes the same mistake as we did and bring your dog to this daycare. Our dog has now come home twice with wounds that have needed to be treated by a vet and both times the staff has had no clue anything happened. The first time in June 2020, our dog came home with a cut on her neck that required 4 staples. When I called the next morning to ask if they saw anything I was told it was probably from the fence but they didn't see anything. They proceeded to ask me how much our vet bill was, but did not offer to cover it. The second incident, our dog came home with a small puncture wound and blood on her side. She ended up whining all thru the night, limping, was unable to climb up on the furniture and seemed like she was in pain. We brought her to the vet to be checked out and he said it definitely seems like a bite mark. I once again called My Second Home to see if they noticed anything and once again were clueless. I felt I was receiving attitude from the employee on the phone. I asked how they go about watching the dogs curious to if someone is always watching them since this was now our second experience with this and they do not have cameras to watch or look back to see what happened. The employee just told me they were understaffed like everyone else, she had been sick, and our dog was very playful. They did offer to cover the vet bill this time, but we will definitely not be returning to My Second Home. Our dog has also come home covered in poop that they didn't notice when my husband came to pick her up.... My 2 year old CBR loved going to My Second Home Doggie Daycare for 6 months until a traumatizing incident happened, to which no one will fess up to, which caused my dog to not want to get out of the car and go into daycare anymore. Bottom line, do not use them for grooming. I really wanted to like my second home as it's very close to our house. However, when we picked up our doodle, he had been shaved too close (not brought to our attention when we arrived) in multiple areas. (Pictures below). At first, we thought it would only be a bit sensitive for a few days so we didn't make a big deal about it. Bad idea. He started bleeding and when we contacted my second home they advised it would go away. It didn't. In fact, our pup developed an infection which the vet said was due to dull and possibly dirty equipment. He now has a permanent bald spot where his hair won't grow. In fairness, they did take care of the vet bill. They also told us that we would be credited back our money per our request and vet suggestion. That never happened... Our dog Olie has stayed here 3 times for boarding and grooming. After boarding, we pay to have him groomed. He always comes out so clean with a shiny coat and great cut. Other places have shaved him when I specifically said not to. The groomers here really listen to how you would like your pet groomed. His nails are cut and filed perfectly. However, I do not take him here for grooming on a regular basis because of their early drop off policy for grooming. A real negative for me. Boarding is okay and dogs do spend the majority of the day in their crates unless you pay for a little extra outside time. The add ons really add up quickly here. Olie loves to play with other dogs, is very social, and being in a crate most of the day is depressing for him. Thus for boarding, Olie goes to another business in Brentwood that is for friendly, social dogs in a no crate during the day, dog park oriented facility. We have boarded our dog at My Second Home on two occasions now. The first time, she came home wet, dirty, and with a cough that lasted almost two weeks. However, this past weekend we decided to give them another chance, leaving our dog for a four-day stay. When I got her back she was, again, wet and very dirty. This is not a real big issue, as I know it has been hot lately and the dogs are encouraged to play in the water, and romp around with each other. The big problem is the fact that our dog came home sick... Again! This time she seems to have ingested something that has caused her to pass nothing but black liquid in her bowl movements. I am more than just concerned with the care provided at My Second Home. I'm concerned that the dogs aren't being monitored closely, and that there are dangerous items or substances that they are being allowed to access. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we were not allowed to tour the facility prior to leaving our dog with them. After this last stay, we will not be going back. They lost my dogs items one time, one time they gave me the wrong dog and when I called to complain they said "it's not the first time that's happened". One time my dog came back UNpotty trained proving they were not taking him out. There's poor communication always and they nickel and dime you for everything. We put our 3 kitties at My Second Home for over 2 weeks while we were in the middle of a cross country move. They were so generous, sweet, and caring. Matt and his team went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. They even gave them baths the day before we picked them up so they would be ready for their new home. I highly recommend them. Terribly disappointed We boarded our dog for 6 days when we went on vacation. When we picked her up, she was still wet from being groomed and hair was flying everywhere (I'm guessing they never attempted to brush her) We got her home and she had lost 7 lbs. we had called and checked on her, while we were gone, and they told us that she was eating fine. Once we got her home and realized how much she had lost, I called them again and the lady said that she had not ate well. She was bleeding every time she went to the restroom. They had three different emergency contact numbers to call if there was a problem. We paid for extra play time, we had even left her there for a weekend (previously) to see how she would adjust. My Second Home has gone WAY downhill over past 2 years and I can no longer recommend it: it's become too corporate/$ centric, staff insufficiently trained, dogs not grouped with proper screening or supervision, too many dogs out in gen pop, sloppy scheduling, dirtier, dog being "mysteriously" injured.... my specific issues all fall under these categories. Last straw, showed up for scheduled and confirmed grooming appointment and was told "oops, you're not in the system", followed by blank stare/so why are you not leaving?? The GM did call me back after I left a message requesting it - essentially got a "that's too bad" response. read more

I picked up my 13-year old shih tzu today after a 9-day stay in a "serenity suite" at My Second Home Pet Resort. I would rate it zero stars, it was so awful. After I had paid, my pup was brought out to me. His hair was all wet and matted, he was filthy and he smelled like he had spent the week in a cattle stall. I was alarmed and asked what had happened to him. I was told that the dogs just get dirty and it had rained. Do they just throw them out into an outdoor pen to do their business? I told them I expected him to be returned to me in the same shape as when I dropped him off. They said they could give him a bath but it would be awhile because they were busy. I had not scheduled a bath before pickup because he had a groom appointment soon. However, I didn't expect him to be so dirty. They didn't show much care about me and my pup nor did they seem alarmed at his appearance. There was no manager on-site for me to speak with. I took my pup home and gave him a bath immediately. His paws were so stained from dirt, fecal matter, grime and filth that I couldn't get him clean. He has an abrasion on his nose. He has also been sick since I brought him home. This company has no business taking care of pets. If you care about your pet at all, do not use My Second Home Pet Resort. They should not be in business and they do not deserve my business. I will never use them again. I will never recommend them. And I will post as many bad reviews as I can and let people know that it is a horrible facility. read more

Not very impressed. There has to be some better options out there! My dogs have been boarded here twice. My first complaint would be that no one ever answers the phone!! I have called on many different occasions and I have never gotten to a person any quicker than a 10-15 minute hold time. Maybe they have too much business and don't need to take my call. Or maybe there is not enough staff. Lacking customer service in every way! Secondly, both of my dogs came home last week after their boarding visit with kennel cough. Fortunately, they have both been vaccinated so they did not get as sick as they could have. For the over $1000 that I paid to board them for 10 days you would think that they would have a better plan in place for "sick" dogs that are there (or should not be there) and that someone would have called to check on my dogs after my regular vet called to inform them that my dogs came home sick. The sickness cost me another $200 for a vet visit and antibiotics. We will not be back and we will not promote this business in any way except to say "find somewhere else to board or get someone to stay in your home"! :( read more

This is probably the nicest facility for dog boarding I've ever seen. It's a little like Cracker Barrel - part store, part kennel. The staff was friendly. All runs are inside runs. The booking process can be done online. Vet records can be scanned and emailed. That ability is convenient, but not uncommon in today's digital world. It's a little on the higher end for pricing. Prior to booking a kennel for boarding, I always tour it. My Second Home Pet Resort's tour consisted of walking me back and down a hallway, and showing me a window I could look through and see runs. Other kennels give a more extensive tour. I would have thought they would show off their facility, instead they seemed to hide it, which was a flag. While the application/registration documents are detailed, the information did not appear to be important to them. I have a high prey drive dog. They didn't know that or anything else on the forms when I went in to board. I took food. It was not used and the change in diet caused the normal digestive problems for a few days afterwards. I emailed asking them if they used their food or mine and got no response. After a late morning pickup, our dogs seemed to not have been out yet, as their bowel and bladder functions were in emergency mode. Although My Second Home is convenient to those in the Franklin/Cool Springs area, I would recommend you shop around more and perhaps find a different kennel for any overnight boardings. Daycare, which was clearly a big part of the business, is something I can't comment about. read more

For the fun of it, my responses to "Chris S.": My review is from November 2010. In 2010, my dog was injured, your organization paid $0.00. You did offer to charge me $25 to drive my dog to my own veterinarian though. If your policies have changed, 1.6 years in the future from the review, then I will simply take credit for complaining about your policy and your changing it. You say, "composite fencing," I say "cage". Sounds like an argument of semantics. You're right I did not know your "composite fencing" size. Because 1.6 years ago, you didn't offer tours of your facility or provide a sizing. 1.6 years ago I was not the only commentator on your front of house staff. Looks like several people called that out. So, I would suggest that if 1.6 years later you have replaced said staff. Then super for you. However, my experience 1.6 years ago was a poor one (and followed up with poor experience roughly 1 year ago). Your prices were high 1.6 years ago and 1 year ago. Unless you have changed prices, you need better competitive intelligence if you disagree. You contradict yourself: you say you separate based on dog size and always have but follow with a sentence that by request you don't separate. So, you don't separate "always". Be careful of those definitives. And since your staff used to claim that my dog bullied small dogs (but my dog is a large dog), then you sure were fulfilling a lot of requests back then... 1.6 and 1 year ago. How can opinions be "patently false"? They are opinions. I will follow with these opinions: (a) I think requiring appointments is consumer unfriendly for a doggie daycare. I think they are particularly unfriendly when exactly 1 year ago your staff handed me an 8" x 11" sheet of paper stating you were now going to require appointments because, and I quote, "you were not staffed to handle current volume". I will reiterate my claim that that was a YOU problem, not my problem. (b) I felt that your front of house staff 1.6 and 1 year ago were rude and as "Angie A." states, "they acted stressed out and not very happy to see you walk through the door". That's a perfect description of your staff during the timeframe of my review - which did I mention was 1.6 years and 1 year ago respectively. Actually, that says something of your customer service right there: it took you 1 full year to type your response. (c) Certifications do not equate to customer service. Again, this is an opinion. It is my opinion. 1.6 years ago and 1 year ago respectively (have I beaten that into the ground yet?), your brochure touted how your management staff was certified in training from many different organizational bodies. Let me clear, I think that is wonderful. I do not, however, think that that equals "Customer Service". My final opinion: I still think your daycare is a 1-star place. That's my opinion. read more

Very disappointing experience--and I won't be back. Upon dropping off my dog for a roughly 10 day stay, I was told I could not walk her down to her space, or see where she would be staying. Strike One. Any dog owner will tell you this is simply unacceptable. I can't see where I am paying you to keep her? A few minutes later as I was checking her in, the front desk staff (teens dressed a bit strangely in cummerbunds) were constantly trying to upgrade her stay by selling me various extras ($$$). Strike Two. They were relentless, "don't you want her to have X, Y and Z while she is here". No, I didn't. Maybe they work on commission or something? Less cummerbunds, and more common sense needed at desk. The biggest issue was this. My dog had a partial ACL tear about 8 months before boarding her. I paid them to keep her in her own kennel, and have individual walks/potty breaks so she did not attempt to play with other dogs and run the risk of re-injuring her leg. Not even a day after drop off, they called my cell to tell me she had tweaked her leg--and were very uncertain about how it had happened. Finally it was explained that she was let out with the other dogs to go to the bathroom, had played and injured herself. This was exactly the scenario I did not want and was paying to avoid. A HUGE STRIKE THREE. They couldn't even follow basic instructions. Thankfully after a few weeks her hip got better, and we didn't need surgery. If your dog has any medical issues, this place seems like it cant be trusted. I will say that they refunded my entire stay (minus our deposit) when I picked her up without me asking. Ultimately this place came highly recommended to us, but based on reviews on here and other people I have spoken to, this place has issues. They need to listen more and sell less. read more

Update: Vet confirmed my cats parasite was contracted from their kennel. The parasite sent him in a fit of horrible diarrhea which then caused him a horrible bladder infection. He spent most the day getting sick today due to the set of 2 pills he is on! IT'S NOT FUN CLEANING UP THROW UP AND DIARRHEA!!! Not to mention 3 trips to the Vets just for him!!! I am IRATE!!!! Had to take work off to address this, and with what is going on with my father this was the LAST thing we needed!!! I been keeping a close eye on him, poor guy. He won't play, barely eats and wants to sleep all the time! Thanks to this place they got my pets sick and placed additional stress on us and our pets!!! What was heart breaking today, was finding my sick cat curled up next to my dog ashes that passed away in May. His big brother. They were so close. He curled up with them holding the box with his head on the top of them....broke my heart! read more
