Treetops Bed and Breakfast - Entry

    Treetops Bed and Breakfast

This one really is one of the best…read more I knew we were going to stay in the area so I had scoped out on the internet the best options, including hotels, etc. But something about treetops seemed right. We arrived as early in the afternoon as possible as we had hopes it would be worth it. We wound around the drive to the 2 story house and parked our car. We wandered in as the husband of the house(it's a husband and wife that own it), was by the front door. He gave us a tour of the beautiful house, including the breakfast area and guided us to our room. Our room was called the Ben Nevis. Fitting, as it had an awesome view of, the Ben Nevis! It had a hat of clouds on but the valley below was just as great. The room was open and cozy at the same time with many accouterments. The location was great as there was a restaurant right near by that was walking distance. the next morn we had an excellent breakfast with toast, many cheeses and meats and some salmon. It was perfect for us as it was fairly quick and great to it the road. We really do hope to e back. It may be on another continent, but worth trying to make it back.

Dinner was especially impressive with upscale playing and exquisite entrees and desserts. All the staff we encountered were helpful, patient and kind.

We planned to stay nearby in Glencoe and looked for a restaurant. The internet had little advice to offer but this restaurant came up multiple times with glowing reviews. Silly Goose is located in the Lime Tree Inn and it's pure perfection! We were greeted kindly and welcomed into the cozy dining space. Spacious but very romantic. We started with drinks enjoying local gin and whiskey. My husband got to try the Sassenach that he'd been eyeing! For dinner, we got the ribeye and chicken. We were so impressed with how well these were cooked. So soft and moist! We were too full for dessert but they had a nice menu of options. The restaurant is spectacular and worth the visit if you are in the area. Be sure to make a reservation as they did have to turn folks away!

The location was excellent, centrally located just outside of town and a short drive to Glenfinnan, Ben Nevis and Glencoe. It's a fairly large hotel amongst the many B&Bs outside of Fort William. Our rooms are a little noisy until 10pm or so. We asked for a room with a view and ended up with half of one obscured by the lounge/bar building. Room is compact but serviceable. The common rooms, however, are very relaxing to just sit and enjoy the Loch in the setting/morning sun. Nautical maps abound, and there are a couple of topological maps if you are considering a walk in the nearby Glens the next day (of course, you should *actually* acquire one should you do so). The food is, ah, conventional. We went for venison burgers and vension sausages (sauces a little salty), and enjoyed them without anything worthy of special mention. Except the goat cheese, which turned out quite blue-vein. It's as if the meat itself lack that game taste a venison should ideally have, and they're making up for it with the other ingredients.

Compare pictures to this lake to photos from the second task(mermaids) from Goblet of Fire....you will SCREAM! Enough about Harry Potter. This hotel is quaint, homey, and incredibly warm and lively. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs and desires are met. From the included breakfast every morning to the offering of packed lunches for your daily hikes the team here is a cut above the rest. The rooms are large with beautifully updated, modern washrooms and showers. The tea kettles and assortment of coffee and teas(in room) are brilliant and the perfect touch. The main dining area/restaurant is delicious with terrific daily specials. The bar area/casual dining area is just as great and features traditional, Scottish, live music some nights. This place will remain at the TOP of my list not only for myself but for recommendations to anyone that may ask. Thank you to the brilliant team behind this beautiful hotel.

I have had way worster experiences and I feel like these reviews are more for the hotel itself rather than just the restaurant itself so I do want to be somewhat fair. With all that being said... I can't confidently recommend the restaurant here. The Caesar salad was literally the only thing that was somewhat edible. I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. Maybe that's just all the people know? It'd be really sad if that was actually the case. My only hope is that the staying there for the night is an actual 5 star experience.
