We had a 1 night stay here. This is a quaint older and dated hotel located by the side of a sea loch, Loch Linnhe. It also has a great location at one end of High Street, the one and only main street in this town. The Muthu hotel chain is part of a worldwide Indian conglomerate and virtually all the staffers we saw here were Indian and friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side and they use old fashioned hot water radiators for heating. The bathroom shower is also a pretty tight cruise-ship-like cubic enclosure. I learned the heating system is not turned on until about 9pm but there is a space heater in each room if desired (and it really wasn't needed by us anyway).
We enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner here also and their chefs are very good. The dinner included a beer from the bar and they do things right proper here as the beers were served in matching branded beer glasses. The dining room was bright, elegant, and inviting. It was a short stay for us but a very enjoyable one. It's one of those typical UK places where the elevator fits 4 people absolute maximum and with no carry-ons! We really were traveling from the Isle of Skye to Glasgow, but that was too long a drive without an overnighter and Fort Williams and this hotel filled the overnighter need nicely. I'll go with 3.5 stars rounded up to 4, mainly based on their great location and food and beer quality. read more
