Budget Automotive and Radiator

If I could give Budget Radiator and Automotive 10 stars, I absolutely would!…read more We were in Springfield from St. Charles for my daughter's MCDA Honors Choir workshops and concert when our 2015 Honda Odyssey suddenly started flashing warning lights on the highway--FCW, LDW, a flashing Drive indicator, and the check engine light. We were only about 7 miles out from our hotel, but we were worried we might be looking at a transmission replacement as it seemed like the transmission went "limp" and wouldn't change gears while driving! The team at Budget Radiator and Automotive got us in quickly, took the time to thoroughly diagnose the problem, and didn't jump to conclusions or try to sell us unnecessary repairs. They found that the alternator had failed, but they didn't stop there. During the repair they discovered the serpentine belt and tensioner were also failing because the belt kept slipping off. They explained everything clearly, showed us what was happening, and made sure the repair was done correctly. After replacing the alternator, serpentine belt, and tensioner, they checked the transmission fluid at my request, (which looked great), then test drove the van for about 20 miles to make sure everything was working properly before calling us. That's the kind of attention to detail and professionalism every customer hopes for. The van now runs beautifully, all of the warning lights are gone, and we have complete confidence driving it home. When you're traveling and your vehicle breaks down hundreds of miles from home, you're putting a lot of trust in a repair shop you've never met. Budget Radiator and Automotive earned that trust from the moment we walked in. They were honest, knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely cared about getting us safely back on the road--not just fixing a car. Thank you for turning a stressful situation into such a positive experience. If we're ever in Springfield and need automotive service again, this will be our first call. I highly recommend Budget Radiator and Automotive to anyone looking for a shop they can trust.

They replaced my radiator about 3 years ago and it is still going strong with no issues! I remember…read morethem quoting me 1/2 the price as 2 of their competitors. I am REALLY THANKFUL that even years later my car is going strong!

Do not do business with this guy! Talks a good game but does not care, and the quality of his work…read moreis terrible. He told me that if I leave my truck with him he would do a full diagnosis and tell me everything that my truck needed. Instead he did little to no work overcharged me and took no steps to actually resolve my issues. I just bought the truck and the transmission was over filled. He told me he removed fluid and that was the reason it was leaking. He told me he then told me it was no longer leaking. Then he told me he thought I needed a new transmission and gave me the number of a shop that without looking at it told me it was shot. I told him I was told it was a rev-limiter and he stated that the transmission was gone. He was incorrect had the ECM flashed and it fixed the problem. I brought him the wrong part for work I did ask him to do, however he did go get oil to do the oil change, and instead of picking up a 10 dollar gasket to fix the oil leak problem he charged me 25.00 to tighten 1 bolt that he could have replaced the gasket while changing the oil and at least resolved the oil leak. He charged me for the oil provided no receipt the oil was low and I don't think he cared enough to even address that. How do you do an oil change and leave the oil low? I even tipped him and bought him lunch. Then after the fact when I realized all that he failed to do I told him I was not happy with the lack of value. I gave him a chance to make it up to me and offered to let him make it right. Asked him to do a transmission filter change and oil change. He then offered to do the work for 30% more than an actual transmission shop. Then told me he did a good job for a good price. I tipped him 100 bucks. I did the transmission filter change myself and it took 30 mins. STAY AWAY. Then after I sent him a message about this review before I posted it to see if I left out anything instead of doing customer service he threaten to take me to small claims court for defamation.
