I called Pendley along with 3-4 other HVAC companies for estimates. When I called Pendley, the woman on the phone was rude right from the start, but I ignored it and just wanted the estimate. She never mentioned there would be a $125 fee for the estimate--if she had, I would've gone elsewhere. None of the other companies charged for estimates; they were all free. Pendley scheduled a tech to come out on a Wednesday at 8:30 AM. He showed up late, never called, and never even explained anything before leaving. I called the office, and they said they'd send me the estimate. During that follow-up call, they casually mentioned the $125 charge. I told them I wasn't paying because I was never made aware of that fee. I never got the estimate in writing, but I did get a call saying it would cost "around $400" to replace my ductwork. I almost spit out my drink. The actual cost for this job--now completed by another company--was about $3,500. Months later, Pendley called demanding I pay the $125. I explained again that I was never informed upfront and didn't think it was fair to charge me after the fact. They said I'd be hearing from the owner. He left a rude voicemail, so I called back to clear things up. Instead of listening, he said, "I've heard the recording, and she told you there was a fee. Do you really think I'd drive all the way to Cedartown for free?" Look, I don't care if a company charges for estimates--that's their prerogative--but customers need to be told up front. He then threatened to take me to magistrate court over this $125! I initially told him I'd pay it just to get it over with, but something felt off. The next day, I called and asked to hear the recording. Suddenly, the owner wasn't so confident. He snapped, "Do you really think I'm going to go through all that effort over $125?" Well, sir, you're the one dragging me through this. He told me I'd have to drive to their office to hear it, then when i said i would, he backpedaled and hung up. So either A) they don't have the recording, or B) they do--and it proves I was never told about the fee. This is not how you treat customers. Threatening people with court over something that was never disclosed is beyond unprofessional. I will never do business with Pendley again and highly recommend others stay away.

I am disabled and my meds make the heat unbearable. Tim had his guys come out and put a couple of windw units in to get my family through the wait. They did not charge a single extra penny for the courtesy they provided, not even labor for the time his guys were here. As far as estimates go, I got three of them. He was almost $2,000 cheaper than the next closest estimate for the exact same unit! He also threw in a programmable thermostat for free. His crew - all I can say is they are outstanding. It was a 20 year-old water heater and the tank had worn out - so when Tyler came the next day around noon, there wasn't much to diagnose. He explained all our options and gave us a good price for a very good replacement. We said 'go!' and we had a new heater in about four hours. He also explained a few mistakes the previous installer had made with some of the plumbing (the reserve tank was on the wrong side of the valve and the plastic tubes were too close to the exhaust valve, which could have melted them). Anyway, Tyler was awesome - very professional, very proficient, very personable, and able to explain everything to someone who's definitely not a plumber. Can't recommend Dayco (and Tyler!) highly enough. Will definitely be calling again if we need anything else in the future.
