This time the problem was electrical system, and the thing stopped on us in the middle of June. I found J & Cooling on Yelp and decided to contact him, we were not disappointing. He arrived on time, got right to work. Once he had diagnosed the problem he was able to replace a part he had in stock in his van and was able to get it up and running. Today's date is August 5, and it is still going strong. His prices were competitive. He was very respectful and earned an A+ in customer service. I needed someone to install two new smart thermostats at my new home. I found this company through Yelp's services quote system and while (at the time of this writing) they only had 1 review, I gave it a shot. The gamble paid off and I'm now here writing my own 5-star review. I got a quick price quote with a note saying I could schedule through the website or by phone. The website was very quick and easy and sent me confirmations on my appointment. Jarvis contacted me the day of the appointment. He was very communicative with letting me know his ETA and then by calling again with an update after a car accident on the highway delayed him slightly. He was professional, friendly, and got the job done right all while answering my questions while I hovered and tried to learn more about the process. He also showed me that my air filters were completely busted and probably haven't been changed in a long time, giving me tips on maintenance. I sent a request for a quote for a new HVAC system thru the Yelp request system. Jarvis came out to give me an estimate. He was great and when he left, I had every intention of hiring him. He said he would get me a quote within a couple of days. Then - nothing. I know things get busy - so I sent him another message asking him to send me the quote as I needed to make a decision. He replied, but ultimately, he didn't send the quote. The messages on the Yelp messaging system show when your messages have been read by the other party. So it's very frustrating that Jarvis (who has glowing reviews) just simply failed to reply and never sent a quote at all. Honestly - I had already made up my mind to hire him. What a relief! An HVAC guy who shows up and doesn't try to take all of your money! Service: Jarvis is super honest! I will never call another HVAC company again. Tried another place (Maintenance Unlimited Heating) and they said I need all new duct work AND that it would be over $1k...Jarvis diagnosed my problem without even going into my crawlspace or taking too much time. 30 minutes later, my vents were blowing 60 degree air. Jarvis also came off as the kind of professional who would start with small resolutions before considering a very expensive fix. Time: Jarvis got stuck in traffic and arrived after our intended appointment time, but kept me updated along the way. I greatly appreciated that because it shows me that he respects his client's time. Things happen, but customers are more understanding when you keep them in the loop. He definitely received kudo points from me for that. Would I recommend? Absolutely! Will I use him again? I made another appointment for his installation expertise with my Nest Thermostat. Firstly Jarvis, was very prompt arriving to our home. And was able to troubleshoot and manually reset our furnace and smart thermostat. It was certainly something that we wouldn't have been able to remedy ourselves. Very knowledgable people that don't rip you off!! I had just moved into a new home at the beginning of summer and my hvac was leaking condensation in my attic. I initially called the hvac company that had inspected these ( big name) and they quoted me some 2k to add extra insulation. I wanted a second opinion so a friend recommended J& cooling. On the first visit they were able to correctly diagnose the issue, it was simple, the drain was clogged. They needed a few visits to fix the issue, and their schedule was a bit hectic, but they made it happen. On the last appt they showed up perfectly on time with a bigger crew, so i think they've added more staff which is great news. I tried J & Cooling out for a few of my rental properties. I found them on google and it looked like they had good reviews. I sent J & cooling 4 jobs for HVAC repair. They charged for each repair visit, but didn't make any repairs. Instead I was told each unit needed a part and in one instance that the entire unit needed to be replaced. I paid $3,300 for a new HVAC unit late March 2023. When I paid the tech promised it would be in within a week. Well fast forward and it took a month for the unit to deliver. Then the tech used weather delays and excuses to delay install. It's now over 2 months later and my tenants have no AC and i'm out $3,300. When I approached Jarvis the manager about it he came back with excuses, blaming everything but himself. When I told him I was thinking of taking business elsewhere he said "do what you have to do" and offered no solutions, just more excuses. on another job In April I was charged $357 for a pressure switch. The tech told tenants part would be in in 2 days. Finally hit my breaking point when he canceled the service install yesterday (a month later) due to part still NOT being in. Great experience. Great service and great price. We had a section of duct completely unattached and just cooling our crawl space. It was suppose to cool the kitchen. Jarvis came out and braved crawling around under our house (More power to him) and got the specs for the materials we needed. He also noticed that water from our crawl space HVAC was not draining properly from the unit and suggested I would need a pump. He called me later in the week with a quote which was very reasonable. He came back later that same week with the materials and repaired the duct and at the same time he also found out that I did not need the pump after all. The drain line was just clogged and he blew it out, clearing out all of the junk, mud and debris. This saved me even more money. My partner and I recently moved into a new rental home and the AC unit was not working at all. Very disappointed with my experience. I should've moved on when the $1900 fix on my 2 year old, under warranty, AC didn't fix the issue. June 5th - i made him aware his first fix didn't work. June 11th - he said the compressor will be in next week and needed $600 upfront for parts. No issue. June 12th - he stated the supply house quoted the wrong parts and needed the full $1200 now. When I asked for the quote so I could understand what I was paying for, he refused. I wouldn't pay any additional money without understanding why. He then proceeded to tell me he'll hook me up and to not worry about it. June 16th - said he'll be out on the 23rd to replace it. June 23rd - never showed up and proceeded to tell me he had me down for the 27th. June 27th - finally showed up, but the unit was frozen and said he would have to wait 48 hours. I asked for him to leave the compressor with me because I had lost all trust at this point and he said his tech would bring it to my place by noon. Waited around till noon and nothing. He wouldn't give me a confirmation on what was going on. I called the supply house myself and they stated that all warranty items needed to be swapped out at their location. Why tell me to wait around if you knew you wouldn't be able to even get the compressor without the old one? June 28th - still no answer on the schedule June 29th - still no response June 30th - scheduled for July 3rd July 3rd - didn't show up at scheduled time and proceeded to try and reschedule again. Fantastic service!!! Jarvis called to let me know he ran into traffic but still arrived around the time we scheduled. My ceiling was leaking and I thought it was the condensation pipe. Turns out, my plumbing pipe was backed up which caused the leak. Jarvis found the plumbing pipe and vacuumed the clog out in less than 5 minutes. Amazing service and at a GREAT fair market price.
