Good experience with Chris and with GB Services overall at the end of 2022. They were prompt with the estimate and the service. Our HVAC replacement wasn't an easy job as they ran into a couple of bad surprises along the way, and the team patiently worked through them. The new unit ended up being slightly bigger than the doorway, and they had to remove a piece of the frame. I'll admit the end result left a couple of scratches in places, but considering the issue and effort I'm pleased with the result. It was a long, frustrating day for Chris and team, I know. I found GB Services for an IT closet cooler at work. They've proven themselves much better than the last vendor and I also signed up for their contract at my home. It would be nice if they scheduled visits automatically as part of their contracts. But as long as you set reminders so you can call and schedule regular service you're good. When a small unit at work lost a compressor they were super honest about it not being worth replacing because of cost. They also recommended I get the replacement online because it isn't something they purchase so would cost more getting from them. Great service for over a year now and don't plan on switching. read more

Upon discovering earlier this fall that my furnace had become unable or unwilling to respond to thermostat inputs, I dealt with it in my typical fashion by procrastinating as long as possible before dealing with it. As Thanksgiving approached and temperatures rapidly dropped, I was finally forced into action by the prospect of a holiday weekend with visiting relatives in an ice cold house. So I called GB Services based upon the recommendations of fellow Yelpers. I was given a two hour appointment window and advised that Mark would call approximately 30 minutes prior to arriving. He called and arrived on time. He was highly courteous, efficient, and responsive. Within 20 minutes of his arrival, Mark troubleshot my system, diagnosed and clearly explained the problem, and quoted a reasonable price to immediately replace the faulty part. A word about "additional problems" is apt here. I believe that in addition to fixing the immediate problem, a good contractor should present options to help the customer extract the best possible efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability from the system being inspected or repaired. The approach should be to inform rather than to sell. Mark was superb in this area. He suggested a fairly inexpensive modification to my system in order to prevent the same heating failure from happening again. He also identified another failed component in my ducting system which was unrelated to the furnace failure, but was causing reduced system efficiency. Both of these items were suggested and quoted without any hint of pressure or strong-arm sales tactics. It was clear that Mark's objective was to help me avoid future repair expenses or higher than necessary utility bills, and I greatly appreciated the opportunity to review and approve non-essential work. GB Services will be my HVAC contractor for the indefinite future, and I wholeheartedly recommend this business to anyone requiring HVAC services. read more

When our heat went out recently, I started scouring Yelp for the best reviewed HVAC services and found GB Services to be consistently the highest rated in Atlanta. When I called the lady I talked to was very helpful and accommodating and did what she could to get us in the queue as quickly as possible. When Mark showed up he went immediately to the crawlspace where the heater is located, changed the filter, cleaned some blocked passageways, and fixed the problem overall. Honesty/Integrity: Called him because he had such good ratings and now I know why. Honestly I thought that it may have been too good to be true but it was not! I had an older AC unit that I personally thought was dead (by the looks of it alone....rusted and beat up) and had not actually turned it on since the end of last summer 2011. I was thinking I would put off the pain of spending the money and just replace it at the beginning of this summer (2012). So I called GB Services and Mark (the owner) was prompt and actually arrived at my house ahead of me. I fully expected him to say, "Well, it is time to spend $4,000 to replace this knackered broken down beastly looking thing (using best British slang I know)".......little did he know I was convinced I needed to spend it but he said, "I found your problem and I am pretty sure I fixed it!"......my response was , "Uh, what......Are you kidding me? Do you mean I do not have to replace the AC unit?".....his response was NO....the unit is old and ugly but still working.....he said we had corroded contacts on some thing-a-ma-jig (not sure what it was) and he cleaned them so the AC unit was cycling as it should and the pressure was good. Ultimately we walked inside the house together and wouldn't you know it was bone chilling cold! I spent a couple of hundred dollars to have him service my two units and that was that! My only wish was that I had called him sooner and not suffered through the last few months of last year (mild winter) when we did not really have to! It was obvious that Mark was there to take care of my need to get my house cooling again and not there to simply sell me something or extract as much money as the opportunity would allow. They asked me to describe my problem and took my contact info, but they never gave me an idea of whether they could come out and do the work. They didn't even really promise to call me back -- they just said they were in the middle of something and eventually hung up. Needless to say, I didn't hear from them again. That's a poor way to manage potential customers, but it would be rude even if someone were doing it in my personal life. One of the other commenters was upset because GB was too busy. I respect that a small company can't take everything that comes in the door, but they should at least have the courtesy to tell me one way or the other. read more

Honest and trustworthy. This company has obviously based its business plan on building long term customer relationships. Not on how much can we charge you today. I thought I needed air ducts cleaned, which can be pricey. John, our technician expressed that it was not necessary. How refreshing to hear from your home maintenance contractor that you don't need to spend your money. He recommended instead, a much better air filter system.(which is a lot less expensive) I had the same system in my last house which is superior to the 1 inch air filters that are installed in most homes. I just bought a house in Decatur and moved there a few days ago only to find one of the air conditioning units sounding like it was about to take flight while starting to emit smoke. I didn't know who to go to being new to town but I found GB Services here on Yelp and because of the many high reviews, I decided to give them a call. Mark and his assistant arrived quickly within a short period of time after calling. Mark was very patient while explaining what was going on with our air conditioning unit and was quite courteous with wearing nylon booties over his shoes so that he wouldn't track mud into our house. He quickly figured out the problem, fixed the issue, and the price was very reasonable. I plan to call GB Services whenever I might need help with my heating or cooling units in my house. They fit me in the same day I called, and sent Mark Moore out. He was fantastic and worked quickly. Instead of just easily diagnosing the need for Sarah and I to buy a new system, he suggested we simply replace the motor. I thought that motor would get replaced in a couple of days, but Mark left right then to go get it, came straight back and put it in and for about half the cost of a major competitor. I found GB Services on here after having a bad experience with another company. I could not be happier with the services they provided. I live on the third/fourth floor of a walk up loft building in downtown (probably one of the most difficult situations when having to replace a HVAC unit and water heater due to the steps and no elevator); however, they were very professional and did the job without any problems! They also were very quick and had the whole job completed (and took away the old unites) by the end of the day. When asking for a quote on the cost of replacement, they broke it down easily into three different budget ranges with all the pros and cons of each. No pressure! When my Heat just stopped working in January, I was pretty petrified it would be some huge expense and I wouldn't know what to do. I found GB Services here on Yelp and due to it's great reviews, decided to give them a chance. The operator Barb was fantastic and thorough, and made sure I got an appointment the same day I called because I was without heat. Mark was about to rearrange things for MY schedule, which was greatly appreciated, and came out and took a look at my furnace. Luckily for me, it was just a bad part, but he gave me the discounted price that customers with Service Agreements typically get. That completely sold me. He showed me in the book even the price of the part, and was able to install it the next day. I know that from now one, Mark and GB Services are going to be who I go to for all these services. Unreasonable charges! My air conditiiner, which is less tha 4 years old, started freezing up. I turned it off, let it thaw, changed the filter to improve air flow. It did not help, so I scheduled a service call. I randomly chose GB because they were a small local company. Now I know why they are still small after 25 years in business. Because they rip people off. The technician arrived an hour early. He told me I had a leak, and my refrigerant was low. Told me I probably had a bad coil. Then I said that was not likely, as it was only 3 years old He said it was probably a manufacturer's defect, and they were authorized to repair it under warranty, for $1400. Alternatively, I could recharge with freon, for $189 per pound, and I needed about 3 pounds. National average cost $50-$150 per pound. When I said something, he said that was "pre Covid prices". It was from 6 days ago! Turns out my condensate pump was clogged. He didn't even look at that! So, I bought the freon, and now I feel totally ripped off. I went by the office twice before closing time to discuss it but nobody was there. I did speak to someone on the phone who was polite, but neglected to call me back next day as promised. Hence this review. I can not recommend this company. Go with a reputable bigger name! read more

I've met various craftsman from the UK, and from my past experiences they are much more knowledgeable and professional than an above average handyman in the US. They know their trade. The bloke who came to service my HVAC was no exception. He fixed the problem w/ my HVAC in under an hour after the first crumby company couldn't figure it out at all. Sadly, these guys don't do work for my (or any) home warranty company, so you'll have to come out of your own pocket. If I'm spending my own money, I'll go back to them in a second. The only knock on these guys is they don't work on the weekends (the best don't have to, I suppose). I had a minor issue with my bill, but the Company was very reasonable in sorting the issue out with me. Nice work! read more

GB Services came when scheduled, did a very thorough check of both systems, fixed several minor issues at no additional cost, and gave me a list of things to consider, along with the costs for each. Had Mark come out initially for a 75 year old home that we just bought and are prepping to rent out. The home has very old asbestos ridden ductwork etc. but unlike the other two companies we had come out, GB services only recommended we do the bare minimum and saved us a ton of money for now (which was necessary since everything else needs fixing in this house too) by suggesting we just repair the current ductwork and service the furnace. He let us know that we can wait a few years before getting an entire new system (which is smart on their end since in the long run we will be spending more money with them... if you consider that we will trust them with the repairs and maintenance on this old system for the next few years and then have them put in the new one). Mark was very honest, kind, and prompt for the initial consult. They sent a guy named John out this morning who arrived 5 minutes early (a rarity if you ever have to deal with contractors all the time) to repair the ductwork and service the furnace and he recommended that we move the thermostat to a new location and mentioned that we need a new capacitor. At first, I figured that he's pulling the classic last minute up-sell on additional crap we don't really need but then when I saw the final cost of everything I understood that he was doing us a favor and even replaced our air filter for free. He also gave us a very fair price on everything (thanks Google!). My only business recommendation to GB would be that the phone call handling go more smoothly. Judi handled all of our calls and she is super sweet and lovely but we had a few weeks of delay just trying to get a call back and had last minute appt changes on their end twice and another time she left a voicemail saying that our appt was changed but forgot to say to when and then when I called to clarify she said that she mentioned it in the voicemail (double-checked again after and nope). Overall though, I trust them and will be calling GB for any future needs. read more

I had GB services come over a few months to evaluate my air conditioner. Came to find out that my cooling unit, in my basement, had a coolant leak. They figured this out within minutes. So I had to replace a giant chunk of metal in my basement, great. Mark whipped out his phone, called some guy he knew, and within minutes he had me another one ordered. The best thing was he figured out that it was under warranty. All it cost me was the labor to install it. They arrived on time, gave me accurate estimates and kept me posted about when the part was here. That is always something I look for in a service company. I highly recommend their services. GB Services went above and beyond!!! We just moved into our new house in the city. Of course we excited but some thieves quickly took that excitement away from us. Not a week after closing, both AC units were stolen. Thinking one of the units were for heat, I freaked out. I called around trying to get quotes for new units and installation. I called a place that I used in the past and they said it would be at least a week for them to get out to even look at it. I told them I had pictures and serial #'s etc, but they were still like no. I called GB services, Judi was amazing. After I told her my story, she said I'm not sure if we could come out that soon but said wait a second and put me on hold. She came back and asked that I send her pictures of the damage and serial numbers, By the days end I had a quote and a time for them to come and install the new systems. She also informed me that neither of the units pertained to heat to so we were ok there. She followed up with me and Mark recommended a guy that does cages and he was awesome as well. The installation went smoothly and we had paperwork for our insurance company very quick. All in all, I would use them again. They're the first people I call for all things HVAC because of the quality of their work and the time they take to educate you on the issue at hand and your options to resolve it. I found them on Yelp after I'd just moved to the area. I had a house with three HVAC systems (electric cooling and gas heating). It had a lot of issues (mainly very poor temp and humidity control due to what I suspected to be overcapacity when they added new square footage to the house and didn't size the systems appropriately). I was new to the area and selected GB Services based on their Yelp rating. I had tried a couple other competitors for the same upstairs unit that kept failing, but wasn't satisfied enough to try them again. I've since moved to a condo with an electric heat pump, and recently my compressor shorted. My best choice was to replace the system due to age and a few other factors as replacing the compressor would've been costly and only given me a one-year warranty (compared to a 10-yr warranty on a new system). I explored other service providers to get additional quotes as it was an expensive job, but ended up going with GB Services as they continue to stand out among their peers. The whole team - from the dispatcher to the technicians - works very hard to ensure you are treated well and understand the process every step of the way. I scheduled GB Services for preventative maintenance for our HVAC system. For the most part, I view this type of service as a commodity--service providers basically offer the same service. Price, therefore, is the primary decision criteria. However, price is not the only criteria. Customer service in the form of prompt, reliable and friendly service are also very important to me. John at GB Services excelled on all of these dimensions. I would highly recommend GB Services for preventative maintenance. For other services, I am not yet convinced their exceptional service warrants their higher prices. For example, I was quoted $450 for duct cleaning which is much higher than I found elsewhere. We have been receiving preventative maintenance services from GB Services for almost 3 years now and never had a problem with scheduling. We had the same technician (John) service our system and he had been great ! However, this year, there has been a long delay in scheduling for AC maintenance (first call made in early June). Also we learned that the usual technician will not be available in the next few months because he is very busy with new installations.Long story short, if you are a preventative maintenance customer you are way down in the priority list of the company. I have always believed in loyalty but seems like it's time to take my business elsewhere. read more

Take this from someone who doesn't normally write reviews for a company. This truly was a first-class experience. My business started with GB in early April 2017. I wanted to check my system before summer started. A tech named Alex came to my home and surveyed the system. Alex was knowledgeable and very professional. Nothing was wrong with my system at the time. Fast forward one month to May 2017. I come home one day and my home was almost 90 degrees. I called GB and they had a tech to my home within 2 hours! It was Alex again and just as pleasurable and professional as the first time. It was a freak accident that could not have been spotted the first time. Alex had my system repaired very quickly and could not have done a better job. Long story short, trust this company to do a great job. They have a 5 star rating because they deserve it. Bought a new condo in December. First time we turned on the A/C we discovered there was no cool air coming out. Found GB Services through Yelp. They came out, inspected the unit which was almost 20 years old and explained patiently and clearly why it needed to be replaced. They submitted several "quotes" that gave us a variety of options suited to our situation. We picked the one we thought best (not the most expensive by the way). We were not in a hurry since the weather was still cool so a week after the decision was made they showed up on the appointed day at the appointed time. They laid out drop cloths over our floors, hauled out the old unit without leaving any mess behind, and installed the new unit. They were clean, friendly and efficient. GB Services is one of those contractors you like to have in your files because they are so efficient and reasonably priced. Mark Moore comes across as a very conscientious owner who makes customer satisfaction a Number 1 priority. I had a gas leak that made the gas company cut off my meter--and they could not find the source of the leak. I wanted to use a locally owned and operated contractor--so I called GB Services. WIthin literally 15 minutes of arriving, Mr. Moore located and repaired the leak. While looking for the leak, he found very tiny leaks in my gas lines to my grill--and tightened all connections to fix that problem. No additional charges--and the overall charge was 30% of the price other companies told me it would cost over the phone. I had my gas back within the hour because of GB. There really is no substitute for a local contractor that can get right out to your place and assess an accurate cost instead of giving you an inaccurate quote on the phone. . Not to mention (which I just did) tightening up connections that were leaking and not nickel and diming you in the process. Based on this experience, I will be calling GB for any problems witth my heating and air conditioning too. read more

Used their website to request service on a Sunday, got a call first thing Monday morning and they were on site by 10:30 that morning. Within an 1.5 hours or so they had diagnosed where the problem was (bad contactor inside the rooftop unit), replaced it, added some refrigerant because it was about 1lb low, and then packed up. I watched them work the whole time they were there in order to learn; they were both fast, very experienced, and happy to answer my questions. There was no BS, upselling, etc. The price wasn't a deal but was reasonable. No complaints from me because you get what you pay for; they were fast and good, which means they could not also be cheap (classic iron triangle, you can only pick two sides). Will happily call them back up next time there is a problem. read more

I recommend G. B. Services unreservedly. They return phone calls promptly and are very polite and efficient. We had reached the point that a new AC unit was urgently required. We got several estimates, and ran them by my nephew who runs his own Air/Heat/Cooling business in Destin. He told me that the deal offered by GB was a fair one for the labor and level of equipment that they were providing. Along the way, Mark quickly answered my emailed questions, really my nephew's questions. We set an appointment for the replacement, but they actually called ahead of schedule and installed the new unit on that Saturday. The installation was quick and clean. Business is booming for GB! They just rejected me for service when I called inquiring about vent cleaning services because they are too busy. (The call lasted a total of 44 seconds). Too bad because now they don't get my long term business and the immediate need of installing HEPA filters onto my units. Oh well. John came out to service my AC units because they weren't cooling to one of my rooms effectively. He was very polite and professional! He took pictures of the problem and showed me the issue, and reviewed the pricing with me before completing the service. He was quick and efficient, and wet above and beyond typical customer service, even giving me a few pointers to help my units run more efficiently and keep my bills down. He seemed to really care about doing the job right and making sure I was knowledgeable -- this seems like a company that really cares about keeping clients for life.
