Being a pet mom I always worry about my little fur babies, and seeing them panting and looking for relief from the heat only added to my stress! I was first pleasantly surprised to see that this company opened as early as 7 AM! I then read the reviews, as most of us that use this site do! I said a prayer and went ahead and gave Porter HVAC a call, and boy was it a blessing that I did! Mr. Porter answered the early 7AM call and was extremely professional and polite. He told me that because of my location which is in metro Atlanta, he could stop by my house within a couple of hours. That immediately brought a smile to my face! Then something happened that I didn't think was possible anymore........he did exactly what he said that he would do, he was in my driveway within 2 hours! Not only did he show up like he said that he would, he was wearing a face mask for safety during this pandemic. Within less than two minutes of me showing him my set up, he was able to diagnose the issue. He was very courteous and even broke the news to me slowly that my unit would need to be replaced sooner than later..... *inserts crying face.* To be fair, the unit was almost 30 years old! I was really put at ease when I saw that Mr. Porter wasn't pushy about trying to make me buy an a/c unit and in fact, he gave me an option that would cool me down for the time being. My pups and I were once again in the a/c and there was no question in my mind as to whether or not I would let Mr. Porter come back out to replace the unit. When Mr. Porter came back out to replace the unit, he once again showed up when he said that he would. Mr. Porter also provided updates during the repair, he stayed within the timeframe that he gave me when we scheduled the repair, the removal and installation of the inside and outside units was great, and he cleaned up after the work was completed. This is an update to my previous glowing review singing their praises. Unfortunately, they did not…read morestand the test of time and I definitely would not recommend Maintenance Unlimited to anyone. The good news is that I suffered the headache others can avoid :) First, the prior work done was not completed and I was hoping they would come back to finish the project properly so that all the systems installed or modified can function correctly. They didn't show up after 2 months of scheduling and constant rescheduling of appointments. All the folks (Darrell & Pam) I mentioned in the previous review turned out to be unreliable - excuse upon excuse. I eventually gave up and found another provider to fix up all their mess and wrap up the project correctly. Second, there were several competency issues with the duct work done. A few examples are: 1) should the supply from an ERV that outputs 200 CFM be connected to the plenum of an HVAV that outputs 2000 CFM? A pro should know that the HVAC will win and blow air back into the ERV. 2) Similarly, should the supply from a Dehumidifier that blows ~100 CFM be connected to the same HVAC plenum? These are seemingly basic air flow considerations any HVAC pro should know. 3) They put only 2 returns (14in and 10in flex ducts) on a 2000 CFM HVAC. I'm not an HVAC pro but even I knew this was not enough return. I had to point out to Darrell to use a duct sizing calculator to figure out how much return was still missing. 4) They couldn't wire my thermostat (Nest - latest gen) to the dehumidifier (Aprilaire E080) correctly too. So many red flags... Third, as a last resort, I called the office to ask to speak to a manager/supervisor. It seems that office rep is pre-programmed to state someone will call back "at their earliest convenience" with an unpleasant attitude to boot. After more than 3 weeks, no call back. Overall, my experience started well but crashed badly. Life is about lessons and even better when you can learn from others' failures. This was a nightmare over a 5 month period and I hope nobody experiences this with them again.

My last A/C tune-up was quite a while ago (thanks COVID) . During their last A/C visit Tom Bunch personnel were professional, used a device to accept credit card payment, and left me feeling secure and well taken care of. Little did I know, but apparently, Tom Bunch, Inc. in ATL is "now under different management" (although Tom also "operates from Macon.") The rusted truck that showed up from Tom Bunch, Inc. yesterday to do an A/C tuneup should have been my first clue. The (subcontracted) technicians spent 20 mins. looking at my A/C, checking compression, and then told me I could call in my credit card # to pay my bill. But did they do anything but check the compression? Clean the coils, other? The technicians struggled to communicate in English, so I will never know. (I called the "head Tom Bunch office" in Lawrenceville and the woman has not called me back yet with an answer as to what the service actually was.) Billing was even worse. Today, they emailed my bill demanding payment for my "seasonal tuneup" (done yesterday) that was due "within 48 hours of work completion"--with a "10% late fee on unpaid invoices after 48 hours." Tom Bunch, Inc. has no payment portal, and when I first called Billing, "Chaz" told me I needed to give them a credit card over the phone or send a check (I don't give out my credit card # over the phone and wonder if they know that a check mailed via the USPS will take about 1.5 weeks to get to them). The billing expert then told me I could pay via PayPal. Hunh? She did not provide the PayPal information. I will try to get it. I will have to warn my elderly neighbor--who recommended Tom Bunch, Inc. to me--about the changes. Too stressful.

Our system was leaking through the drywall. On recommendation from a friend, we called this company, which is actually just a single guy named Charles with a truck that reads "24 Hour Service." Unfortunately, he's unprofessional, unresponsive, and lacking expertise. He brought a child to the job, failed to fix our system (the leak grew significantly worse after he left), took $285 cash/Venmo, ignored calls and texts, and then left us without air conditioning for more than 24 hours, with an infant, before he called back to return. That is not what we expected from "24 Hour Service." Call E Dennis instead for professional, efficient service. They asked if we had small children/elderly folks in the house, dispatched someone right away, did a thorough investigation of the problem (went inside and outside), and charged less than Charles for an entire YEAR of HVAC/furnace maintenance. They also informed us that Charles failed to unclog behind the p-trap and that the auto-shut off, which the guy said he needed to replace, was not the issue, which is why it failed to work even after Charles replaced it. I spoke to Charles 27 hours after he failed to fix our system about making it right: offer us a refund, full or partial. He refused and yelled at me over the phone. Do not recommend.
