I got someone other than Jason (the owner) on the phone and they came out to 'fix' it. Since then they have come out 7 times (in one year) to 'fix' the unit. Best HVAC experience we've had in 30 years…read more Our upstairs unit stopped cooling and we called another local HVAC company out to look at it. Took their tech just 10 minutes to tell us we were low on freon due to a bad coil and we were looking at $3500 to replace. Guy never used a leak detector he just knew the leak was in the coil. I wanted a 2nd opinion before spending that kind of money so I called J&R based on their 5 star Yelp rating and the things people were saying in their reviews. Joe showed up, immediately took the unit apart, and spent over an hour using a leak detector to try to locate the coolant leak. Couldn't find a leak. He ended up leaving the system pressurized with nitrogen over a weekend only to come back on Monday and find no pressure loss. No leak - no bad coil. The issue was the other guys (who've serviced our units for 2 yrs) had left the valve caps loose on the exterior unit. Joe's diligence and honesty saved us a lot of money and earned him a customer for life. Its really rare nowadays to find someone with this kind of ethics. Joe's a likeable guy, explains what he's doing and why, and isn't out there trying to run up the tab on the repair. You sometimes hear companies saying they'll treat you like family. Joe never said that and its not on their website or their marketing material but that's definitely how I felt I was treated - like family.

The other company took over two weeks to get in a part under warranty and twice the distributor he used sent the wrong part. I had to threaten this other company before I finally got AC. In fairness to the other company, they did replace my entire AC unit (under warranty). However, that was only after I threatened to tell every builder, mortgage broker, realtor, insurance agent and interior designer I  knew. (I used to be in the building business myself.) Then my AC unit froze up and quit working after only one week. Needless to say that when I was searching for a different experience with an HVAC company I was very leery and suspicious of everyone I spoke with. I got a recommendation from a group of neighbors to try the guys at R&R. WOW, what a difference these guys made! I was honest and upfront with them and they worked HARD to put me at ease and gain my trust. They diagnosed the problem I had and found out I needed a new evaporator coil. They researched and found out that the part was also still under warranty. Unlike the other company, they were able to have a replacement part the next business day.  I found out what the labor charge was to replace the part and was skeptical about the cost. Friends got in my head and were saying that's too expensive. So, one day while I was home I saw a different HVAC company guy drive by my house and I flagged him down. Come to find out this guy was a neighbor that lived a few streets over. We started talking and I explained my situation to him. I explained that I was afraid I was paying too much for labor. My neighbor got out of his van and hooked up his tools to my AC. He confirmed EVERYTHING that R&R said. I asked him about the prices and he said, my charge for this would normally be $50 more. If you are getting it at the price quoted, you are getting a GREAT deal from R&R. He made some recommendations for additional service work I might want to have done. I called the guys at R&R and asked them to do some additional work when they replaced the broken part. He said no problem and I told them I wanted to replace the plenum above the furnace because it was leaking cold air. They investigated and found out that my plenum was not a standard length. After doing some research, they found a way to repair and replace the plenum and seal up all the air leaks above the furnace. They did everything the same day and when I got home the difference inside my home was very noticeable. The airflow coming from my ductwork was stronger in all the rooms. My house is now cooler than before and my unit is not running as often. I can't say enough great things about this company. They are reliable and do the job they say they are going to do. Their prices are fair and REASONABLE. They do QUALITY WORK and above all, they are HONEST PEOPLE who WON'T rip you off! I HIGHLY recommend R&R Heating and Air. I rely heavily on recommendations from friends and reviews. I typically go for smaller companies with good reputations that's been around more than a few years. HVAC Bee was the fourth company to come give us a quote. My wife had set it up without my knowledge proven by the fact she scheduled them to come out the same time I had another company out. I had all but had my mind made up to go with the first quote by the time Adam arrived from HVAC Bee. I was surprised that HVAC Bee was as competitive as they were. All four companies were within 150 dollars with comparable units. However, HVAC Bee crushed them on the 10 year parts and labor warranty. Plus, they threw in a 5" filter rack to sweeten the deal. Communication was quick and left me surprised on more than a few occasions on the response time. Adam was completely on top of things the entire way through. I like not having to labor over which company to pick and they made this decision super easy. Four days later Sean and Travis show up on time and installed the AC in around 2 and half hours. Plus, they checked the pressures on my downstairs heat pump as well as a favor. They installed everything as promised and took great pride in their work. Sean put the sealant on the plenum so perfectly I thought it was tape. I touched it and messed up his meticulous artwork and I could tell it bothered him a little because he took such care and pride in it. Unfortunately, that kind of pride in workmanship is hard to find these days. Thankfully HVAC Bee has found it in Sean and Travis. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience and the system. I feel like I got more than my monies worth. I definitely recommend at least getting a quote from them or you can save yourself the time and hassle and hire them first thing. I plan on doing that when my second unit goes bad. One more thing, I was surprised they didn't require any money down to start while the other 3 companies did.
