I can't hardly explain how I feel about Preferred Choice Restoration and their people,  but I will try! Both the Demo and reconstruction side of this company were PHENOMENAL! The stress of having your home torn apart and put back together from The crazy amount of leaks (8 in my case) is a feeling of uncertainty and unpredictability... this caused me so many worries,  stresses,  and moments of tears. To be honest though,  i learned so much in this process,  and the first lesson was trust! The trust that there ARE people who have gifts that I don't!!! I needed to trust that the gifts of these people would heal my home! When I decided to lay down my feelings,  open up and let go and let things flow,  every stress and worry went away! It started with releasing those stresses when I spoke to STEVE from the Demo dept of Preferred Choice.  Him and his crew were literally like family!!! Super professional..... you know,  it could be easily uncomfortable with huge men around but NO.... these guys were super fabulous!!!! The coolest thing is you realize as professionals.... they're human too and when you talk to them... they really connect and you realize WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO and it all comes together that WHY trusting them is important!!!!! It def relived my stress! I adopted them as my brothers lol!!! There's no way I could do what they do! Now,  Steve left me in the hands of Ryan,  again... now scared of transition lol.. but I trusted that if STEVE said RYAN was amazing,  then I knew Ryan was amazing,  because STEVE IS!!! I can't not trust his word now,  he's shown me nothing but honesty, transparency,  and professionalism. Now here's Steve..... SUPER friendly,  blunt but kind,  very transparent which is important because there's no hidden agenda and he provided his AVAILABILITY JUST LIKE STEVE! If i called,  they were there,  NO MATTER WHAT! When 3rd party companies made a mistake,  Preferred Choice MADE SURE TO FIX THEM RIGHT AWAY!!!!! The advocacy the RYAN had for me,  my home, and my family was beyond fabulous! His patience,  follow through,  and advocacy was brilliant! You know,  too prove that relationships matter to preferred choice.... even though the Demo guys were done with their job,  I still got calls from them checking up on us!!!!!! Thank you for that STEVE! There was one worker that stood out the most to me (outside of STEVE and RYAN of course)... They were all amazing,  I just wished I could remember them all (but i remember their faces!).... Buutttt..... A.J. was such a consistent,  hard worker that came early,  stayed late,  kind,  professional,  and asked questions to ensure satisfaction or choice! I LOVE THAT!!!!! Do not hire them. Preferred Choice was the one we hired after having done and getting quotes from different restoration companies, to our regret. The demolition crew removed a lot more flooring than anticipated. On top of that, they charged thousands of dollars for PPE. We are talking a water issue on a condo and the amount of PPE does not seem reasonable. State Farm seems to agree, so much so that sent Preferred Choice a check for over $3,000 dollars for the mitigation portion of it but preferred choice wants more. And they want to fight. It's been a nightmare for over 6 months now and I suggest you avoid this company. I would give them zero stars if I could. Worst experience ever! After locating a leak from my dishwasher, I called out a plumbing service that I previously used and while here they told me that we need a restoration company because there was quite a bit of damage- which I could see and agreed with. I agreed for them to call Preferred Choice without me doing me research on restoration companies and that was the first misstep in this process. They came out and were very helpful at first however, they were giving me guidance on how to bend the truth a little bit with the insurance company. Looking back, it felt a little bit like encouraging me to commit insurance fraud. There is so much that then happened so I'll hit highlights. They were ready to immediately move forward with demo, I had them pause to give me a chance to speak with the insurance company and get more guidance. At this point, we were unsure if insurance was going to cover the cost so I asked Preferred for an estimated cost so I would know what to expect in the case insurance did not cover. I was provided with an estimated cost of a little over $5K. Insurance at this time stated they had no coverage concerns so we moved forward. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Preferred came in and did the demo and tested for asbestos and during this demo process sent photos that were not required and not requested to the insurance company. They also did not get my permission to send this additional information.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The insurance company then denied coverage based on this new information that Preferred provided that WAS NOT requested or required to be submitted. Also during this time, someone from Preferred showed up at my house and stated that asbestos had been found and now needed to be treated. No additional quotes were provided to me from Preferred for these services. They just moved forwrad and performed them. Today, I receive an invoice for over $7K for the asbestos treatment! No one ever mentioned to me that this was the estimate for this service and gain my permission to move forward and agree to pay it if insurance didn't cover. So now we have been told we owe over $12K to Preferred! It is all very upsetting and I feel completely dupped by them. This is a review for both of Preferred Choice's Divisions: Preferred Choice Restoration & Preferred Choice Construction. You know I hate giving 1 or 2 stars reviews but here we go: Preferred Choice Restoration Review -The water softener burst on Friday 8/2 morning, damaged the garage, laundry room, hallway closet, foyer closet, most of the baseboard and partial of the walls inside the home. My plumber stopped the leak and he recommended Preferred Choice and Sarah would take care of all this for me. I should have done some research before just calling, I was just overwhelmed by this damaged and upcoming surgery. -[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cameron Friday 8/2 in the afternoon from the Preferred Choice Restoration side of the company came out. He reviewed, marked it up, treated the areas with a spray, left 2 fan for the garage, and one for the foyer closet. He said someone from the company will call and/or come by to check on the process during the weekend. No one did called or come over to check until Monday[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. -Monday Luis came back to check, review the process, and let us know the demo team was coming out on Tuesday. -Demo team came out on Tuesday, tore out the garage walls, baseboard, grout, closet walls, etc They cleaned very nice after themselves in the house. The garage was a cleaned up ok. They left more fans and a dehumidifier. They did not check to see if all the electrical was worked when they left. I did not realized 30 mins later, some of the lights, garage door, laundry room, etc. was out. I had to call them to come back. They came back turned everything back on. -They removed my water heater during demo, so I assume everything was put back together. Not only we did not have hot water, but it started to leak from there they dwelled the pipes back on. I notified the owner Sarah about the issue. -Cameron came out on Saturday. He only came to remove the fans and dehumidifier. He did do anything about the leak from the water heater and the fact we have not had hot water in the house since they left on Tuesday. He told us to call my plumber to fix it. I notified the owner Sarah about the issue again. She told me to get a hold of my plumber as well. Very fortunate that my plumber is a neighbor and he came by on Morning morning to stop the leak. But still no hot water. I notified the owner Sarah about the issue. -Luis came back on Tuesday and figured out the issue, the demo team from 7 days ago never connected back the electrical element. We had hot water again. I was trying to run my laundry and found out the water spouts were not turned back to on from the demo team. Preferred Choice Construction Review -[[HIGHLIGHT]]Jeff the Project Manager came out to see what is to be repaired. He gave me timelines and did call when he was suppose to to advise me of the process[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. -The construction crew came out on 8/22 Thursday almost finished with the walls, baseboards, paint, etc. They cleaned up well after themselves. -Then 8/28 Wednesday, the Quality Manager came to complete the rest of the repairs, paint, grouts, and review the work. I showed him the constructed areas and what is still left. He first argued with me and did not want to fill the gaps (were the grout was). I was like your company tore it out and I need to back to seal the gaps left by the new baseboards. He said it is not side of the companies issue. When he left I noticed gaps and cracks everywhere (see my pictures). No, I did not call the owner Sarah this time. I had surgery the next day and I did not want to deal with the stress of all horrible experiences with both Preferred Choice Restoration & Construction. I am 1/2 way recovered from my surgery today and now I still have to deal with the gap and grout issues. What a headache! I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Do NOT work with this company! This is my experience with this company from my point-of-view. My husband and I called this company after a plumber mentioned seeing mold under our kitchen sink. A guy from Preferred Choice Restoration company came out and told us how much it would cost to fix. The guy quoted us $1000 and said that they'd pull everything out right away, and then in a week or two, after the cabinet came in, put everything back (a summary of the conversation). We asked if there were any additional costs, and he said, no, and that they'd get a contract out to us stating that it wouldn't be more than a $1000, no matter what. We got the contract, read it over, and signed it. They came out and pulled everything out. Then, a few days later, we got a new contract and a bill for $4,027.08... to put everything back in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We called and got a hold of the manager, who said there was a line in the first email that said it was for demolition and dryout only, so said that's all it contained, and we have to pay 4x as much to put everything back in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We argued with him for awhile, and he didn't care. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He says he doesn't believe his guys didn't tell us there were additional costs, and that there's basically nothing they can do for us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, we owe them $1000, and then have to find someone else to put everything back in. These guys were SO smooth. We really trusted them and thought they were good people. I can't stress this enough. They really made us feel like we were in good hands. I honestly don't know what we could've done differently... except for notice that ONE line. We're going to be filing a complaint with Arizona Registrar of Contractors and anyone else we can file a complaint with. Steer clear of them! This is the worst company we've worked with since owning a house. Misleading, Dishonest, and Zero Accountability My sister had a terrible experience with this company and strongly advise others to stay away. My sister contacted them after a plumber noticed some minor mold under her kitchen sink. A representative came out and quoted her $1,000, telling her that the cost included removing the damaged cabinet AND restoring it once replacement materials arrived in a couple of weeks. She even asked if there would be any additional charges, and she was told no. After reviewing and signing the contract, the company came out and ripped out the cabinet--but then, a few days later, she was blindsided by a second contract and a $4,000 bill to put everything back in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When she called to ask what happened, the manager insisted that the original quote only covered "demolition and dry-out" and claimed there was a line in the email (not the signed contract) that said this.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He refused to acknowledge that they were verbally told the price included both removal and restoration. Worse, he acted like she and her husband were the ones at fault and made it clear they wouldn't help them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a classic bait-and-switch. Do not use any of the Preferred Choice companies (Mitigation or Construction). Their Field representatives will say and promise anything to get you to sign a contract. Once they have a contract everything that they verbally promised will be forgotten. On top of that they will gaslight you about anything not explicitly stated in the contract. My project managers were very poor at communicating a plan, and any dates or time lines they tell you will not be met. I tried to work with them for nearly four months to only to get some sloppy drywall and painting done. Debris everywhere, that in they did pick up after I rode them for over a week. In the end they backed out when I wouldn't accept 'HomeDepot' substandard cabinets, tile and fixtures. They charge a premium for their less than adequate work. We had some water damage in our Kitchen from our dishwasher. Preferred Choice showed up (Cameron) August 7th, saw the damage and told us they would be in and out with the entire job completed inside of 2 weeks. We explained to Cameron that we had a number of family members coming into town for our wedding so we needed it done by then. He stated, "this isn't a big job, we'll get this done in no time." [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked him if he was my point of contact for the entirety of the project and he stated that he was. We never saw him again after him stating he would be here continuously to check on things.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called him multiple times, with him much like all of the others giving me excuse after excuse but never accepting personal responsibility for why they weren't here or getting things accomplished.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Days later they came to do the deconstruction. In the process of decon they broke our faucet and disposal. That was put on my dime. It was a week after that before anyone showed up to discuss reconstruction. Which was put off with multiple excuses for an extended time. We had a temporary garage style deep sink in our kitchen for weeks with no action and a bunch of excuses of why "they" couldn't get here to do their job. Eventually the reconstruction team showed up and did the job. It took all of 2 days. In that process they caused much more damage in the house that they had to repair, again extending our house being torn apart. They don't use their own people (other than the demolition crew) as I was told they did. Everything was contracted out and their was next to ZERO communication between anybody. Multiple times guys showing up not really knowing what they were here for. Not some but every single contracted person / company that came to the house said they never heard anything good about preferred choice. And that our complaints were worse than others, but still the over all standard. In decon of their screw up our toilet was broken so they ordered a new one. It took 3 weeks to arrive and then I, like before, had to pay for another item. A toilet lid. Because Why? Because they didn't order a lid. Just a toilet. So I was told to order the lid unless I wanted it to take an additional 3 weeks. There is A LOT more that could be added to this story but to end it here, our "2 week job" turned into 4.5 months to simply fix a small 4x7 foot center island in the kitchen. So do I recommend this company? I'll let you decide. Personally, if you have any issues, I suggest going to a general contractor. You'll pay much less and very likely get it done in the time promised. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are scammers. My brother called a plumber to fix the kitchen sink at my deceased parents' home in Sun City, the plumber called this company and they started doing work without authorization, claiming it was an insurance claim. Insurance denied the claim and canceled the policy. I did not authorize them to do anything. They entered the home and tore out cabinets and fixtures from the entire kitchen and two bathrooms and brought machines to "dry it out" (for a backed up sink). I told them insurance denied the claim so they are suing me personally for over $15,000 when I had nothing to do with hiring them. The lawsuit they filed has an exhibit with a work order from a home in Scottsdale (not my parents home in Sun City), they forged my brother's signature on a certificate of completion, completely fraudulent. They have already submitted this to the credit bureaus, damaging my otherwise excellent credit! out the court/arbitration process, not allowing me to clear my name from this This has been an absolute nightmare for something I did not hire them to do. I have spoken to two other elderly women find themselves in the same situation with this company. They perform unnecessary work and inflate their invoices in order to file a claim with insurance companies. read more

This company started restoration for my house on June 2023. The reconstruction was very slow. Collected money from my insurance in advance. An amount of $28726.94 collected from my insurance for replacement of laminated wood flooring. My insurance company advised me to collect the money and find a responsible contractor and finish the work. I signed only one contract on Aug 18-2023 which didn't say about break fee. They made a forged document February 15-2024 stating that I need to pay 20% break fee( I didn't sign any contract which stated that there's a 20% break fee. Terrible experience - do not trust the Gilbert, AZ branch of this company. My 87-year-old mom had a plumbing failure and a small flood at her home in a retirement community. Called Preferred Choice at 10:30 this past Saturday night when we come home to water leaking every where from the ceiling after the rain storm. They had leak detection here first thing the next morning, found pools of water in the ceiling. They set up dryer and a dehumidifier right away to help dry up some of the water before cutting the ceiling open so we didn't have a swimming pool in the dining room. Came back the following day, Monday, to set for demo. When they were done cutting open the ceiling. You couldn't even tell. Their team cleaned up so well. They set a containment so well they there wasn't drywall dust anywhere in our home. There is now dryers specifically directed to the 2x4's in the attic to dry them out to prevent mold. One of the biggest nightmares a homeowner can have is water coming through the ceiling. Mine, of course, happened on a Friday afternoon. Preferred Choice Restoration came highly recommended by the plumber I had called out to the property -- they were at my house within the hour to assess the damage and get a plan of action put together. I felt so comfortable with them from the minute they walked into the door. They knew exactly what they were doing, actually cared about me and how this affected my life. The guys that came to clean up the damage and set up the restoration walked me through step by step what would happen next. They followed through on everything they said they were going to do. Completely blown away by their customer service. I took the restoration a step further and decided to just do a full remodel on my house-- because why not haha! Isn't that what you do? Take a $3,000 fix and turn it into a $40,000 one? :-) They connected me with Evan and Powerhouse Enterprises. Evan came out and gave me estimates very quickly that were fair and the pictures of the projects they had done were really great. Evan was able to get the work scheduled very quickly and I basically had a new home in 4 weeks time. They even fixed a DIY project I had started that did NOT go very well. I'm so happy with the communication between Evan and his entire team of workers that got everything done. I felt comfortable letting them in my home without me having to supervise or follow up on every single thing. He even went above and beyond on things that maybe I didn't communicate as well. I couldn't be happier with the results of this project and I'm already planning my next project for this house and my future homes. Had water damage while on vacation, and Preferred Choice was recommended to me for repairs. Good recommendation! Initial visit included assessing the damage, and removing the affected area, and leaving large fan to dry the area until repairs were to begin. Casey came out a few days later to complete the repairs, which included drywall, plastering, and painting. I was very surprised at the ability to get the exact match on the paint, and the completed job looks as it was prior to repairs. I would highly recommend the company for repairs, and though mine was small (approximately 25 sf), I would use them on larger jobs if needed. read more

Preferred Choice was great assisting me in dealing with my insurance company. It took 3 months of back and forth communications to get them to pay for the damage in my bathroom. My insurance company would not communicate with me. Preferred Choice went above and beyond to explain the damage and work needed to be covered. Without their efforts, I am not sure this job would have been completed. They did a great job repairing my bathroom, and all was paid by insurance due to Preferred Choice's diligence. read more

This company is a rip off my insurance referred them to come out I had a sewage line break and it backed up from the toilets stand up shower and other bathroom floor and tub I work from home on the phone and could only check on what they were doing in between they ripped half the walls out in the master bathroom ripped out the stand up shower in the vanity put two machines to dry the floor and dehumidifier same in the other bathroom kept telling me everything would be okay that my insurance would pay for it [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked them several times to take these machines out because they were making me more asthmatic and I could not hear on the phone to do my work[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] in the meantime I had bladder surgery and had a catheter that I needed to empty in the toilet that I could hardly get to because of the machines it turned out my insurance had a $5,000 cap they charge me over 15,000 that is would not putting all the stuff back in the bathroom I had to hire somebody else to put it back and replace everything but the stand-up shower that I could not afford the last few months they have put a judgment against me and a lien on my mobile home now I get a letter I got to show up in court in February before the judge about the lien on my mobile home Arizona has a law that is the mobile home can be moved on wheels they can repossess it my home is worth at least $35,000 and this is not right what they are doing it took 2 months for me to get an itemized bill from them argued with the manager at what point did they find out there was a $5,000 cap and to stop the work or at least ask me if I wanted them to continue which they did not and I had several times asked why do we need these machines in here when the floor has to be cut out and replaced well it still got a lot of humidity in it is what I was told and with my asthma I should not take them out then I got charged for 3 days over the weekend that nobody came out to check on them and that Friday somebody did not plug up two of the machines to the dehumidifier but yet I was charged for it this place is nothing but a rip off and now I have to worry about losing my home because they have taken me to court because of Arizona laws on mobile homes this is the first time I have owned one I've always had to live in an apartment I bought this with the money my brother left me and I've had to soak a lot of money in it and now this place is pulling this on me they have no heart and soul on senior single women [[HIGHLIGHT]]those young kids just ignore you that they have come out they would not work with me they wanted me to put it on a credit card which I don't have one or one that would be over $10,000[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't know what the outcome is going to be when I go to court but I don't know how this owner of this company can sleep at night read more

Our Water Softener had a major leak while were on gone on vacation so water ran for quite a few hours and did major damage. We called our plumber to check out the issue and he recommended we get someone into dry out the house. He called Preferred Choice since he had done work with them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Anthony came out alone and was nice on the phone and asked for approve to proceed. I trusted he knew what he was doing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told him PLEASE SAVE MY BRAND NEW WOOD FLOORING. When we got home blower were going but they did not put any wood floor mats to dry out the floor just fans. So we went 7 days before he brought the correct equipment. By that time my bedroom was in bad shape and needed to be replaced. Dining room was damaged but trying to still save. Anthony finally omitted he was alone the Friday night and could do limited moving of furniture with only one person. Plus they did not have the wood floor drying equipment available. He should of told me up front the proper way to dry a floor and recommend another company who had the staff and equipment. When they did drywall removal, they did not put up barriers so a lot dust was all over the house. The company i hired to restore put up floor to ceiling barriers and a huge difference in the care they had for my house. DO NOT USE this COMPANY. Talk to your insurance for a recommendation. Plus they do the rebuild and I asked for a bid. The leak happened June 14th. I got their bid to restore in Aug. They seriously would of left us with holes in our walls in July before they could even get a bid out. It was almost funny. read more

After a small leak, our entire house needed new flooring and baseboards. We opted to go with Preferred choice initially due to meeting with Cameron who was knowledgeable and helpful but additionally, we felt that the company overall was full of a young and eager crew who would do the job correctly and quickly and would advocate between our insurer and ourselves and we were right! The whole crew at Preferred was excellent! From Cameron in mitigation to the crew who installed everything to our project manager, Dave. All of the services were excellent and while we hope we never have to deal with a leak again, I would gladly use preferred again if we needed to! This company was recommended by the plumber who came to repair a water leak within the wall. They did testing and tear out of damaged drywall, cabinets and flooring. Project manager wanted to do very significant and expensive tear out when a much more modest repair was possible. They did a substantial amount of taping and plastic for protection. Once the dry out was complete and the tape and plastic were removed, there was significant damage to those areas, not damaged in the original issue. The insurance refused to pay for that damage as they said it was far beyond normal. Preferred Choice insisted it was in the insurance estimate that had been approved. The adjustor said it was not. Three ceilings had to be painted and insurance said they never covered that. There are more specifics of needed repairs but the upshot is that PC refused to make any accommodation because I had not used them for the restoration portion of the job and the insurance refused to pay as they said the material removal damage far exceeded what is normal. My first two attempts to reach PC with photos of the damage etc. were not addressed at all. And the final answer was " You didn't use us to do the remodel so too bad". Would never use this company again. read more

If ever you need water damage dried out and restoration done to dry wall and cabinetry, look not further than Preferred Choice Restoration. We had a washing machine overflow and water everywhere. They were recommended to me by our son, Jonathan, who is in the air conditioning trade and they completely exceeded our expectations. Communication with us was excellent. Preferred Choice rocked! They were quick to deal with the damage and worked well with my insurance company. They coordinated work with the pack-out company, then undertook the rebuild, which was fairly extensive (family room, kitchen and office). The only downside was that the first project manager didn't keep me updated on the work (despite my texts requesting info). But the next manager was very good in communicating with me. It took three months, but they got all the work completed a day before all my family arrived for the holidays. Hopefully I won't have to go through this again, but if I do, I would go with them without hesitation. read more

Did I just win the lottery or what? Well, maybe not winning in the traditional sense, but my experience with these three companies was close enough: Knockout Plumbing, Preferred Choice Restoration and Elite Roofing and Remodeling. My journey with these companies started when a galvanized water pipe burst in the crawl space of my 1935 home in one of Phoenix' historic neighborhoods. Initially I contacted Knockout Plumbing. Since the water damage to the bathroom was extensive, they referred me to Preferred Choice Restoration. Sarah immediately eased my concerns and within two hours sent Cameron out to access the damage and assist with the next steps. I was immediately impressed with his understanding, professionalism and knowledge. His crew came out quickly to set up fans and start the demo work to avoid any health issues. I was equally impressed with Dan, who handled the water mitigation with my insurance company, and with Mark, who processed the restoration estimates. Mark also subcontracted the reconstruction of my bathroom and hardwood floors with Justin at Elite Roofing and Remodeling. The plumbing work was completed by Knockout Plumbing - thanks to Joey and Cody! Because the floor was already opened up, I decided to have the entire house replumbed. Dan scheduled everything and Josh completed the work! I also spoke with Diana a few times and she was awesome! When it comes to Elite Roofing and Remodeling, I cannot thank Justin enough for the outstanding work he and his team did. They were exceptional to work with and the end result is better than I could have ever imagined. These companies worked in perfect harmony with each other and with me as well. Each process was thoroughly explained and delivered on time. Although they are three different companies, they share some common goals and expectations which their employees embodied and made them dream teams to work with: produce quality work, strive for excellence and provide exceptional customer service. I highly recommend that you at least consider contacting any one of these companies for plumbing, water mitigation and/or restoration.
