Since it changed to Assurance Tire the quality of services has declined and prices have gone way up. Last week was the final time we will have service at Assurance Tire. We brought the SUV in for tire rotation and simple oil/filter change. Rotation was free and the oil change was $115 (similar with dealership prices). After the car was home we noticed a large puddle of oil on the garage floor and we could see the trail of oil on the street in front of our house. We brought the car back to Assurance and they said the gasket they replaced had a tear in it. The car was basically out of oil so they replaced the gasket and the oil. The next three days we continued to see new oil drops on the garage floor so we took it to the Lexus dealer. They said it was likely a cracked oil filter cover and the undercarriage of the car was covered in oil. We paid for the new part and cleaning. Assurance did not offer a discount or refund of the botched oil change nor did they offer to clean the mess under the car. They did offer a future oil change for free, but given this experience we'll pass on that. Assurance did give an estimate for them to replace the front brakes and flush the brake fluid; Lexus gave us a quote for the same at $70 less than the Assurance quote. Do you think we are going to trust Assurance with our brakes when they can't even do a simple oil change correctly? About a year and a half ago I got a quote from Assurance for a brake job on my truck which was about $200 more than I paid to have the job done at the Honda dealer. I'm not going to tell anyone where or where not to have their auto service done, but the advice I can give is to check around and maybe the prices at the dealerships are competitive or better (as in my case). I will give my trust to a business that wants my future business and shows they actually care.

They don't try to upsale you, but they are a full service garage and will bring important issues to your attention. For this area they are the best! I trust these guys. He appeared knowledgeable about the repair and explained that the driveshaft would need to be removed. I supplied the proper differential fluid myself. What I was NOT given beforehand was an agreed-upon $500 price. After completing the work, he told me I owed approximately $500. When I questioned the amount because we had never agreed to that price beforehand, he tried to get aggressive with me repeatedly started yelling, "Just pay my money!" I had to make him wait before paying him until he stopped all the hollering Later, while I was in another state, I took my BMW to an actual BMW dealership for some totally different and was informed that my rear differential was still leaking. This was the exact issue I had just paid him hundreds of dollars to repair. I contacted him immediately. He initially told me he was going to "handle it." After that, he stopped responding to me completely. Since he would not resolve the situation, I disputed the payment through my bank. After investigating the claim, my bank credited me and closed the dispute in my favor. Based on my experience, I would be extremely careful dealing with this mechanic. Get the FULL PRICE in writing before he touches your vehicle. Get exactly what work he is supposed to perform in writing. Keep your receipts, messages, pictures, and any professional inspection or diagnosis afterward. And if you pay for a repair that you believe was not properly completed and the mechanic refuses to make it right, know that you may have options through your bank or card issuer to dispute the transaction. Provide them with your documentation and let them investigate it. I'm leaving this review because I wish I had researched his reviews more thoroughly before hiring him. I chose Chapel Hill Tire because it was the only place within walking distance from my dorm. Over the years, I consistently took my trusty Toyota there for service. When I eventually gave the car to a friend, it had 275,000 miles and still ran perfectly. My friend added another 100,000 miles before the old Corolla finally went to Toyota Heaven. In those 42 years, I've lost count of how many cars Chapel Hill Tire has serviced for me, my wife, and my four kids--roughly around 17 cars. We've never had an issue until about a year ago when there was a problem with an oil change. Fortunately, the warning lights worked, and I was able to address it myself. When I informed Chapel Hill Tire about the mistake on my next visit, they were thankful and assured me it was a fluke. However, the same mistake happened again on my next visit with the same car. I was shocked and unhappy. When I informed the garage and the manager, they were equally shocked and horrified. They identified the root cause, explained that it was a data error, and assured me that it had been permanently addressed. Chapel Hill Tire went above and beyond to rectify the situation and ensure it never happens again. Admitting and owning up to a mistake shows a lot of character, and Chapel Hill Tire has shown me just that. Despite the errors, their response has reinforced my trust in them. I look forward to bringing the next 17 vehicles to Chapel Hill Tire.

They failed to properly secure one of my wheels. I got halfway home and the front end of my car…read morestarted making horrible noises. When I did get home, I found all lug nuts loose on the offending wheel, with one nut almost falling off. They also failed to return my wheel lock key to my car and claimed they did return it. A thorough search of my car turned up nothing. What seemingly made all of this worse was a lack of contrition on their part, after essentially imperiling a customer with shoddy work. After alerting them of the lost wheel lock key, I actually had to call them back to force a refund for it. Another minor issue included very poor reception on my Verizon phone service in their waiting room, such that I could do no phone-related work or view their inspection report for confirming car work to be done (they do have guest Wifi, which I noticed after the fact. no texting though). Monitor the work this place does very carefully.
