Lacking any other specifics (except I know she LOVES pink), I wandered into Pure Barre and was immediately greeted warmly. They have equipment like mats and blocks if you need them, and extras like water available if you need it. This space is warm and welcoming and all the instructors have been wonderful while also being completely unique in their focus and delivery. I started January with the unlimited membership (which I highly recommend) so I've taken Facial Refresh, Core XIIT, Pilates (mat) and TRX classes. Each class and each instructor has something different to offer, and with the small class sizes you feel like a part of the community immediately. From week to week the instructors remember specific injuries (to recommend modifications), goals and other pieces that are so important to substantial growth in strength and stamina. The online system is very easy to use to sign up for classes and the cancellation policy is extremely fair. Being right in the heart of Fall Creek with ample parking, the commute there is never a problem. In addition, the class times are perfect for my schedule and they have so many various classes to offer, it's so much more than just Pilates! Finally, they even have online classes if you can't make it in-person on a specific day, which I have also used and found to be extremely beneficial. I really can't recommend Vellidan enough. As a mom of two young children, this was the reminder I needed that feeling strong doesn't need to mean high intensity workouts with guaranteed injuries. Pilates is highly focused core work that is low intensity with a laser focus on correct form rather than overexertion. In just one month I already feel stronger and can feel my balance and core strength improving significantly. But this studio is NOT a hot studio, it's a tepid studio, a "warm"-ish studio. My feet remain freezing at least half an hour into class, and once the class hits 80, the small heaters fully shut off (they may even blow cold air?? I can't seem to remember!). It's actually really miserable for folks who are avid hot yoga practitioners. And I wouldn't recommend this studio for people who are looking to really move and physically challenge their body. I've practiced hot yoga for 15 years. It's my life line to mental grounding and the my favorite version of self-care. Mighty Yoga left me sleepy after every class instead of energized (which is what usually happens after a true hot yoga class when my body is moving). Because the intensity or movement wasn't there, my body was unable to release my anxiety and feel relaxed. Some people DON'T need to expend energy like that, and Mighty Yoga would be great for those folks. It's not great for me, but that's why I'm giving it 3 stars...bc while it doesn't work for me, it isn't a total shit show...just not "my" place :)

Although Chris and Shawna had different styles, both were welcoming, enthusiastic in a calm way, and made me want to come back for more classes! In fact, I paid Terrance 20 dollars instead of 10 because I wanted to pay for the next class ahead. As a special education teacher, the summers can get tight financially.
