Misleading Ratings Their high Google ratings can be deceptive. Precision has multiple branches across Wisconsin, and their service quality varies depending on the local rep. You might get someone decent--or someone who overcharges and underdelivers. Unethical & Unprofessional When I called about my bent garage door panel, I was worried about potential damage to the tracks and cables. But instead of sending a technician, they sent a salesperson who barely gave any advice and left me thinking I could keep using the door. Big mistake. The damage got worse, just like I originally feared. When I confronted Precision about it, they refused to take responsibility--then had the audacity to quote me that outrageous $870 repair cost. I previously worked with Precision approximately 2 years ago to manage an issue. The issue they addressed was done so in an inadequate fashion. I do not know this from my own knowledge. Rather, another company came in and pointed out several areas that lacked quality of work. I was previously frustrated by them as they specifically overcharged me for the work provided. Fast forward to now, 2 years later. The same issue that Precision door came to address repeated it self. I couldn't open the garage with the opener or manually. I call their 24/7 hotline as they advertise they have somebody on call for urgent matters. I assure them that I need urgent access to my vehicle and explain the situation only to be confronted with the fact that nobody was on call for my area. Additionally the lady who answered the phone seemed to not take me seriously at all. Luckily I found another company who fixed the issue urgently but also informed me that the work previously performed could've been better. It seems like these guys ought to be skipped. read more

I was quoted $125-$189 for the spring repair and $70 for labor trip charge on the phone. What I got was extreme price gouging and felt pressured to go ahead with other repairs with super inflated prices. The $350 for the spring isn't really an issue because it looks like a higher quality spring. I was charged $95 for bottom brackets that had a retail cost on Amazon of about $12, $95 for a center bearing plate that would cost between $10-20 retail, $140 for an operator bracket that shouldn't cost $20-50, $160 for 7 feet of steel cable pulley. I got fleeced because I wasn't knowledgeable of these parts and their cost. Repair time took 40 min tops and trip charge is knocked off if they do the repair. I imagine Precision pocketed $300-400 over that actual operations cost today. Not happy. Nothing against the tech-just the huge price gouging. read more

our remote would no longer open the garage door. When the technician from Precision doors arrived he made no attempt to get the door to open, such as check the battery in the remote. He quickly surmised that my equipment was out of date and proposed an $889 solution to the problem. Further, he suggested the rollers should be replaced, which would add another $480. I paid the $70 service call fee and bid him farewell. I called R&R doors. They replaced the essential parts, lubed two doors and everything is working fine. Their bill was $173. I called them to come out to look at my door. They sent someone out right away. The technician said he had to order the part and that it should be back in a week. That was May 6th and it is now June 14th and nothing. I called them 3 weeks ago and the after hour person said he would have some one call me the following week. No one called me. I called back again the person could not find me... so frustrated I hung up. I called back a week later and the lady said the part would be here last week and someone would call me. Guess what NO CALL!! I would not recommend them for anything. I called All + Ways Garage Door Services 6097 Pinion Pine Way, Fitchburg, WI. Justin came out the same day and fixed my garage door and ordered the parts. He called me a few days later and came out to put the tracks on and let me know that it would be any day now for the other part. He is the best and I would recommend him over Precision any day. The technicians were excellent - very knowledgable, friendly, polite & timely. They called before arriving and got the job done in good time. Very pleased with my experience. I was a bit startled by the cost, though. I wish the customer service folks had mentioned how much it would cost for the counter balance reset of the springs (an unexpected $150 added to my bill at the end - ouch - just to reset the springs we already have, no new springs included in the purchase cost). I don't know much about garage doors, but it seems to me that this should have obviously been included in a rough, verbal estimate over the phone and it wasn't. It nearly doubled the amount I was expecting to pay. So, just beware of this added cost. Looking at other company estimates to reset springs, this is definitely on the higher end of what I'm finding. read more

***BUYER BEWARE***At first I was very impressed with the urgency to get to my house to take a look at the garage door repair that was needed. Nick arrived to my house and was very professional and had a good understanding of what the issue was. My guard went up when I was given a "complete diagnosis" when Nick hadn't even looked at anything on the garage door that was the issue. Within 5 minutes I was told of several issues that lead turned into a sales pitch trying to sell me on a $1,200 purchase. I then called another local repair shop and was told that based on my issue it will only cost $400. When I told Nick that I am going to be using another repairman, he jumped right to telling me that I need to pay $85 for a trip charge. I was never told by Carla who I originally spoke with or Nick that a trip charge was being placed. I refused to pay because that was never disclosed. These guys will give you a sales pitch without diagnosis, will charge you hidden fees and will apparently charge you for your estimate when most businesses do that for free. When looking for a repair, choose your local dealer even if it means waiting until normal business hours. These guys clearly lack a sort of integrity and I will never do business with them or any business like that. read more

Needed a garage new door. Precision Door came out and explained all of the options and measured everything. They were the second company we got a quote from but based on how professional they were, responsive, timely, and knowledgeable we went with them. In one week our door was ready for installation and they did it in 3 hours. Great service! Would recommend to anyone. read more

The spring on our garage door snapped, and the door would not open. We first called Precision Door Service, they came out a few hours later and said we would need to spend a minimum $1,500 to get everything working again. We were then charged an $85 fee just for them having come out to look at it. Displeased with this surprise, I called up Schmitz Door Service for a second opinion. They were literally at our door within 15 minutes, and quoted us only $260 to fix everything that actually needed repair. No charge for coming out to look at it. Can't recommend them more!! I did call Precision and got my $85 refunded, only because I told them I had not been warned about the charge ahead of time. They actually made me wait so they could listen to the phone recordings, which proved I was right. Such a scam. read more

Came to repair and instead the tech recommended either an expensive conversion kit or a complete new door. Both were very expensive options. I called the original installer Northland Doors and they quoted a much more reasonable price. I felt totally scammed by these people. Stay far away from this company. Don't trust them. I Googled Overhead Door for a garage door repair and, unbeknownst to me, this place popped first and I called them thinking it was Overhead Door. When the guy arrived he said he'd repair the door for about $100, but only if we promised to buy a new door to replace the repaired door soon. If we didn't promise to buy a new door, the repair charges more than doubled. My wife sent the guy on his way only after she paid his $80 trip charge. So we were out $80 and the door still hasn't been repaired! This place stinks. Stay away from it! read more
