The work was fine...BUT...very expensive! Be sure and get 2 or 3 other quotes from other companies before you commit. Also, the technician tried to upsell us by a lot. Thankfully we didn't bite on that. For replacing two springs and less than two hours time, we were charged more than $1400.00 Our neighbors had the same problem with their garage springs a couple months ago and paid less than half of what we did. Just had Precision Door Service come out and do a routine maintenance on our garage doors. The technician, Christian, arrived exactly when they said he would. He was very polite and professional. On one of the doors, he simply recommended the usual routine maintenance; however, the other door needed to have the rollers replaced. Afterwards we could hear a noticeably more quiet door opening and closing. I feel like their prices are about middle of the road, but the materials that they use are quite a bit higher quality than some that we have had in the past. I worked at Precision Garage Door for 5 years, and by the time I left, I couldn't stand what the company had become -- or maybe, what it always was behind the scenes. From day one, it was clear this place was more about high-pressure sales than real garage door service. Technicians are trained to upsell aggressively, even when the customer doesn't need half the stuff we're pushing. It stops being about helping people and starts being about squeezing every dollar out of them. But it wasn't just the sales tactics that turned me off -- it was the culture. I saw good people get run through and burned out like they were disposable. The company has no loyalty to its workers. As soon as someone pushes back or stops hitting arbitrary sales goals, they're tossed aside. No support. No real care. Just churn and replace. And to top it off, there were sex scandals among the higher-ups. Power plays, favoritism, unprofessional relationships -- stuff that poisoned the culture and made it even harder to respect the leadership. When management leads with ego and backroom drama instead of integrity, everything below it starts to rot. I stuck around longer than I should have, trying to make it work. Christian arrived on time and got to work right away, immediately identifying what the problem was, a cracked and bent panel. However, I just feel like the cost was excessive, $660 for a couple of metal beams and an hour of his time?? We damaged our garage door and had Precision come out to replace the broken panels. One panel they brought was the incorrect size but had them install it anyways as the door was still functional. They told us they would order the correct size and come back out to install it, obviously at no cost to us. Fast forward to a year later, the panel has still not been replaced. We are continually promised to be called back and nothing ever happens. We will let a week or two go by, call again, are told someone will call us back, but no one ever does. I have had the issue escalated with no results, even promises by the general manager to return my call by the end of the day are left unfulfilled. Finally, I am told (after calling Precision again) that the panel is in and installation is scheduled. Installer shows up as promised opens the box and the panel is not even close to being correct. He apologized and understood my frustration. He states he will let the office know what the problem is and have them reach out. I told him thank you and that I will see him again next year. I have never worked with a company that is as unorganized and incompetent as Precision is. Other than their installers, they have failed at every step in this process and clearly do not care about their customers nor the level of service they provide them. My garage door failed on a Friday evening, with cars stuck inside. A local internet search revealed Precision as a company that could provide emergency help. Their online appointment system showed the availability of technicians as early as Saturday morning. I was easily able to make an online appointment for a 2-hour window on Saturday. The technician arrived on time. He was very cordial, helpful, and informative about my needs and final costs. He completed the job in good time. The technician arrived ahead of schedule and completed the work in a timely manner. Good. However, when I made the appointment on the phone the woman quoted me 130-350$ for the entire job. Upon arrival, initial quote from my technician was 1100-2000$ you can imagine my surprise. I had done some research on the company before he arrived so I was ready for the inevitable "upsell" that seems to be routine for this company. I declined the unnecessary steel door rollers (research revealed that nylon are better and quieter for home use - so I feel deceived by the push for heavy-duty components that I apparently don't need) and opted for the minimum necessary repairs to make the door functional. That still ended up being nearly 700$, double the maximum I had been quoted. They did replace the ballbearings for the roller, which seemed reasonable, and it was a torsion spring, which seems to be more expensive, but none of this was remotely in the area of the number I heard on the phone. So I land somewhere between being satisfied with the service and feeling like I was taken advantage of. I just needed the work done today, so I didn't send him away and search for a less-"expensive" company. read more

Edit: A different Sean reached out to me almost immediately after posting the review and said they would fix the issue for free. I had fixed it myself at that point, but he let me know to reach out anytime if I had any more issues with it. I have added stars based on that. Sean came out to take a look at my garage motor which was making a noise. He recommended replacement and gave me several options. When he was hooking the door back to the lift motor after testing he left his vice grip tool on the door rail. This caused the door lift mechanism to unspool, unnoticed by me or presumably him. When I tried to close the door after he left it would not close, and the door is now diagonal in the frame. I called him back to see if they could sort out the issue, and he quoted me a full $120 service fee and said it couldn't have been something he did. I will not be using Precision again as it seems they care more about their bottom line than their customers. read more

Precision Door just installed two Liftmaster 8500W at my home. The install was great and the technician who did the install was on time and did a good job. I don't recommend using this company as it price gouged me on the openers themselves. I was charged $989 per opener not including the installation. Had I ordered them anywhere else and delivered straight to my home the high average price per opener would have been around $600/unit. They upcharged me almost $800 as compared to anywhere else. In fact I could have ordered a 2 pack of the units on Amazon for $1,149. They perform good work but why pay that much more money for no extra value. Edit 4/4: Precision Door reached out to apologize for my experience (after seeing my review) and stated they would refund the amount charged for the service call. I appreciate their professional response. [Original review] I asked Precision Door to come look at my garage door to see what was wrong and was VERY unhappy with their response. I have 3 single garage doors and the one we use most stopped working suddenly during operation. When I looked at it, I could see that the cables that pull provide the spring-activated tension on the door had both come off of their spools and were wrapped around the torsion bar. Not knowing anything about garage doors, I called in the "experts". After looking at the door for less than 30 minutes, they provided a quote that was approximately $2000 to fix the same problem on all 3 doors, or $1000 to fix just the one that was broken. In their opinion the following list of parts needed to be replaced, for each door: 234-35 Precision standard quality torsion spring. Torsion tube 9' 9' 16 GA Torsion cable for 8' door End plate w/flanged bearing Flanged ball bearing for center or end plate I called a friend who had more experience with garage door repair than I did. After 45 minutes, we had the issue fixed - for $0. Turns out the spring had simply come loose and lost all tension. After re-winding the spring and cables to the appropriate specs (found by a quick google search), and tightened down the bolts holding the spring to the torsion bar, all was well. Now, in all fairness, there WAS wear on all 3 of the torsion bars. This is not surprising given that they are likely very old and could do with some preventative maintenance. However, the springs were NOT broken. The prices quoted for the maintenance items were outrageous. However, I'm not as mad with the high quote, as I am with the fact that the door could have been fixed during the initial service call by ANY qualifited and honest repairman. This was proven to me by the fact that 2 non-experts fixed it in less than an hour with no cost. The Precision technician could have fixed the issue AND explained that there were some worn parts that needed replacing soon and provided a quote for that. Instead, I had to live without a garage door for aweek until I had time to fix it without the "Expert" assistance. Any EXPERT should have seen the issue right away and fixed it for the cost of the service call (or a small additional fee, if he was slow, I guess). But to tell me it couldn't be fixed withbout at least $1000 of parts and labor is bordering on criminal. Also telling me that the spring was 'broken' and providing a quote to replace all 3 springs - when none of them was broken at all - was just plain lying. Also - (and this isn't directly Precision Door's fault), in the process of these 2 ameteurs fixing the spring, the door got stuck during our testing and ended up burning out the opener motor. So, went and bought a new opener at Lowes and installed it myself. Mind, it was an old opener, but it worked fine, and I would have been happy to not replace it for a while longer. And, while it was not Precision Door that broke it, if they had simply fixed the door when they were here, I wouldn't have had to be messing with it and broken my opener motor. read more

Been waiting on this company for months to provide, at our cost, a system to remotely open/close the door. Finally learned today (which we should have been told after first call) that they needed to replace circuit board etc with a total cost of $389 plus tax. Quick Check of Amazon shows a complete new system would only cost $233 for a better Chamberlain system and my husband can install it himself. The technician was on time and very helpful. However, the experience quickly deteriorated soon after that. I received a 'door package' PDF with itemized items and price. we were asked to call Precision if we wanted to move forward. We called and we're told no one was available at door service, but someone will call back. we never received a call, but received a an email to follow up after receiving the 'door package'. I emailed back letting them know we tried to place the order, but no one returned our call. We then received a call and told an invoice would be sent to pay on line and then the order would be placed. Never received the invoice. I called to find the status on the invoice only to be told that Michelle was the one who was supposed to email the invoice and didn't know what happened. However, that she would call but met not call until 2 Days later. When I said I will be moving on if she didn't call, as I couldn't understand why it was difficult to place the order, I was quickly dismissed and the response was, "ok, I'll let her know". About 2 yrs ago one of the two springs broke, I had it replaced. A year later the 2nd spring broke and I had Precision Door replace it. Less than a year later one of the springs breaks again. Don't remember which one Precision replaced but I was charged $50 for the service call and $149.95 for a STANDARD cycle spring and ZERO warranty! I understand that I needed service quickly but $149 for a single spring seemed excessive. After checking around on Google I found that standard cycle springs are available for about a fourth of that price. Other repair places only charge about $90 for the same part. I find it interesting that their Web page says they use their own "powder coated" heavy duty torsion spring but installed a standard cycle regular spring. They also never informed me that I was only getting a standard cycle spring. But then again, at $149.95 for ONE standard spring, I can't imagine what they charge for their good stuff. On the plus side, they showed up on time and replaced a broken spring. On the negative, they charge a $50 service fee(that I can deal with) but installed an inferior spring without asking what my preference was and overcharged me for the part. For that reason I cannot give a positive rating. read more

I am wondering what people paid for Precision's service. They might be good but they overcharge! My husband had Precision give us an estimate for replacing a spring on our automatic garage door opener today. Estimate was $750 without tax as they told my husband all sorts of different parts needed replacing like the drums, etc. They even told my husband that the garage door would eventually needed to be replaced & he ought to start budgeting for that. So, my hubby called another business and their estimate was $206 including tax & both springs would be replaced! This business, All Pro Garage Doors, had no knowledge Precision was out earlier. They said the garage door was in good shape- it didn't need replacing- just the 2 springs! Come to find out that Precision workers are on commission! They prey on older folks like my hubby who is 71! I know, they're supposed to be the best in town, but my experience was exceptionally unhappy. After paying $250 for a simple remote replacement plus the important "safety work" the repair guy assured me was necessary, a month or so later the equipment went berserk. I called Precision, and they sent two guys out this time. I was expecting they would be fixing it up for free since some sort of mistake had obviously been made earlier. But instead they informed me they couldn't fix it because the parts weren't available for my 18-year-old garage door opener. I would need an entire new garage door opener. Strange that the earlier repair person didn't mention that the opener was too old for me to make the $250 investment on the "needed safety work" that he had identified. Angry words were not exchanged, but I said good-bye to them, of course, since we all know how costly a new garage door opener is. I'm 77 years old and couldn't see that pro-rating out the cost over the number of years I would be needing a new opener would be a good investment. My garage now functions as a carport. What a coincidence -- I had that needed "safety" work done and the whole thing broke down a month later? I hope my age was not a factor in their providing such an unhappy experience. read more

Also tried to sell her an insulated door. $$$ The line of B.S. went on and on. Got a bid from another reputable company who replaced the springs (said the door was perfectly fine) and charged a fraction of what precision bid. Would not recommend this unethical company to anyone. UPDATE......After seeing this review I got a message from the owner expressing concern over his employee, and wanted to address this right away.
