Short answer: absolutely worth it!Long answer: I'm already thinking about my next excuse to come back. Walking in, the space immediately delivers. The aesthetic is awesome-- the kind of intentional, beautifully designed interior that feels warm and curated rather than staged. It's trendy without being cold, and the Inner Harbor location makes it that much more special. I know there is a huge renovation planned "down the harbor" , this Matriarch is ALREADY READY! You get all the energy of the waterfront with a cozy, tucked-in feel once you're inside. Now, the coffee. I got a latte that was genuinely one of the better cups I've had in a long time -- smooth, rich, perfectly pulled. I also had a Chai and paired it with a cherry & cheese danish that was fresh and delicious, the ideal complement to the drink. I asked for it heated and it was hot all the way through. Hate it when I get it and it is cold in the middle...the barista understood the assignment and got us right! Everything felt thoughtful, like someone in that kitchen actually cares about what they're putting out -- because they do. Speaking of which -- I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and it all made sense. Warm, passionate, and clearly proud of what they've built. Shirts, cups, napkins, and merch that says "I love my Matriarch" is a reminder of the "Why" behind this spot I think. That kind of energy flows through the entire space and staff. You feel it the moment you walk in. The Matriarch isn't just a coffee shop. It's a destination. If you're in Baltimore, this is a must. If you're outside the city -- make the drive. Trust me. See you soon, Matriarch!

We had the matcha latte, and a menu special: solar eclipse which was chai with expresso macadamia nut milk and lavender syrup. Matcha was good flavor and quality. The drink special I pass, I gave it a fair try but it didn't taste good- there was a very acidic taste at the end. My first time in was after calling to see if they had gift cards, went without an answer . So I went there and nope. Waisted my time going there.

We went looking for a weekday breakfast near Fed Hill, and thought of Blue Moon Too. (Apr 2026)…read moreIt's an easy to find bright blue storefront on Light Street, just north of the Cross Street Market. At 10am on a weekday, we found metered street parking right at their corner. It's a large space, with walls covered with art. There's around 52 seats at tables of mostly 4 and 2, with one for around 12. There was a 2-seat-table set up outside, and a bunch more available down the side of the restaurant that could be set up. We chose a table for the two of us, and server immediately offered us hot coffee in big steaming mugs. The menu, available online and by QR code, is huge! We ordered Veggie Scramble: 3-eggs lusciously full of mushrooms onions green peppers and tomatoes. They let us choose feta cheese! And the hash browns were epic! A mountain of creamy shredded potatoes, well-done to a crispy crunchy surface! And we got their Huevos Rancheros: open-faced 2-egg tacos, flavorful medium-spicy Mexican chorizo sausage and salsa verde under melted cheddar-cheese, over warm soft corn tortillas, with a side of those amazing hashbrown shredded potatoes. We got the eggs scrambled. Both breakfast servings were ample and delicious. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. A few flaws: They have no espresso! Waah! The strong black coffee tasted a little bit bitter, maybe brewing for too long, but it was fine with milk and sugar. We each had two cups, which tells you the bottom-line :-). And, we made a point of choosing a two-person table, while one person waiting for a date was asked rather sternly by the manager to leave their only 12-person-table for a larger group. Makes sense, but it might have come-across a little too harshly. While I'm fussing, i didnt see any food photos on the QR menu. Sigh. We loved our generous breakfast and the whole friendly artsy atmosphere. Everyone, even the switched-table, seemed comfortable, with friendly chatter filling the high-ceilinged hall. Their sandwichboard sign out front says "Best Breakfast Ever!" Pretty darn close!

Friendly staff and fast service. You cannot reserve ahead but my boyfriend and I were seated immediately because they had a table which just opened for 2. Not sure of the wait time outside of this experience. The decor is very 80s rock coded with a few movie classics along the way. I loved some of the artwork and every detail that they put into designing this place. Coffee: brewed nice and strong Stars of the food show: Sweet Baby Jesus: A burst of sweet and savory crab chunks sprinkled with old bay in every bite. The tomatoes were a refreshing break as your taste buds were recuperating from all of the savory melted cheese, hollandaise sauce, crispy hash browns, and delicious eggs. It's large enough to share but toooo good to want to share lol I thoroughly enjoyed this. Captain Crunch French Toast: This was the BEST French toast I've ever had. It's layers of goodness starting with fresh fruits on the top (blackberries, strawberries, and green apples). Next, fresh whipped cream. Then you move on to the perfectly crusted French toast and the captain crunch pieces sprinkled throughout the plate. I didn't need any syrup at all because it was sweet enough. But this was an amazing dish! My boyfriend and I did share this because it was shareable and we both wanted to indulge in it while enjoying our individual meals. I'm immediately planning our next visit to this place-definitely worth it.

Both our server and the host were super attentive and made sure we understood the menu and specials, which we really appreciated. The ambiance was beautiful--very clean, cozy, and just a really nice place to sit and enjoy your food. It does get busy, but they're very organized and communicate wait times right away, which makes a big difference. Now the food: Donuts: SO good--soft, flavorful, and definitely a must-try. Cheesecake: A little on the firmer side rather than super creamy, but still tasty. Margherita pizza: Great flavor (9/10). Personally I'd love a bit more cheese, and it's on the thinner side, but for the price and portion, it's still a solid choice. Pulled pork special: 10/10--absolutely delicious. Fried pickles: 9/10--slightly salty for some, but definitely worth trying. We dined in and also did takeout on two different days, and both experiences were consistently great. Definitely a spot we'd come back to!

From an adult perspective, we walked into what looked like total chaos--a packed restaurant--and immediately thought we'd made a mistake. We went with two cappuccinos, a lineup of sweet treats, and an incredible steak, egg, and cheese sandwich that absolutely delivered. Hands down one of our best Baltimore finds--we're already looking forward to coming back when football season rolls around.

I got the Oreo smash and the staff was nice enough to let me get a fresh chimney cake so it was warm out of the oven. In the bottom of the chimney cake, they put two marshmallows to keep the ice cream as it melts from breaking down the paper cone that it sits in which add a nice little sweet addition to the overall dessert. This dessert was so good and I wholeheartedly appreciate that the ice cream is dairy free. I tasted Oreo cookie in every bite and the warm chimney cake was the cherry on top for me. It's a nice coffee shop with tables that you could easily bring your computer to and the people are extremely kind. So it's a great environment for individual work or small meetings. As someone born and raised in Seattle, we take our coffee very seriously. Despite the fact, Starbucks was started there, we all despise it and prefer the smaller coffee shops. They offer some really creative drinks, and sometimes the flavors are a little too bold for my taste, especially when they mix things like juice into an espresso latte. But their holiday seasonal drinks get me every single time. We have tried the "Over the River and Through the Woods," the hot chocolate, the cinnamon crunch latte, and the mistletoe toasted marshmallow, and I have enjoyed all of them! I also appreciate that their hours are longer, which makes it a great spot to get work done. I will say the seating is not the most comfortable if you are in the booth with the wooden seats, but it still works when you need a change of scenery. The food has been hit or miss for me, but recently it has been more of a hit. I am still wanting to try something from their pastry bin because everything in there looks phenomenal! Looking especially at the sweet potato pastry! Overall, I think this place works well if you know what you are coming in for. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is solid, and the location right by the water makes it even better.
