Step straight up to the counter and place your order then side shift to the left and leave your money - that's a little different, kinda feels like a cafeteria but you got no food on your tray, it will arrive later so take a seat and relax and grab ya a handful of them roasted peanuts. This roadside bbq joint is about the only place to eat for miles around no wonder they are serving up a little bit of everythang by golly it's darn near a smorgasbord. You want bar-b-q they got it beef, pork, and turkey you want some catfish yup they got plenty of them too. Nachos, quesadillas, frog legs, meatloaf and chicken fried, smoked and barbecued all of that and more. This place has it covered with an endless selection of sides and ice cold root beer and cream soda inside the icebox so grab one on you're way to the counter. I'd say the service was friendly and the dishes were filled to the brim and the sweet tea is as sweet as are the desserts. I liked the gravel drive and the smoke bellowing from the homemade pits in the back, it ain't fancy by any means but then again I got change from my hundred dollar bill and I fed seven. Prater's is making the effort to keep it real, remember this is Tennessee barbecue and the bar is raised about as high as it can go here in the Volunteer State - unless you're in Memphis ten feet off of Beal. I liked it and I'm a pretentious bbq snob, if I'm in Morrison there's a good chance I'll have a least one meal here...

It is a cute little restaurant. There is some outdoor seating and in all it has a cool vibe. The food was okay but I doubt I will go back. The restaurant looked dirty on the inside which grossed me out a bit while eating but this seemed to be due to it being an old building. We both got pulled pork sandwiches and added coleslaw to them which was decent. BBQ sauce is kept on the table. For a side I got potato salad which was very good. My partner got French fries which he didn't like the best. He also got an iced tea and the total came out to around $16. That isn't a bad price for lunch for 2 but the meal really wasn't either of our favorites.

    Did not eat.

Waited and waited for order of Sampler Platter with ribs, BBQ sandwich, and brisket. Received no brisket. Wings instead. Tasted like they were 3 days old. Ate 3/4 of my sandwich and NONE of the ribs as they looked like 5 day old ribs. The roll was good. Never again for me here.

Tender, tasty bbq. Heard about it from family and they were right. On the way to McMinnville it's a little spot with all the trucks outside. Has a daily lunch special (on board at front) Friendly, quick service. Eat outside or inside. Enough to take home!

It's in the name... and on the doorstop!

Good but doesn't really want to be great. Thats all right though, sometimes constantly good is preferable to sporadically great. Flavors will not disappoint.

Prater's BBQ is the best in Warren County Hands Down. You won't find better in the area. The service there is top notch as well.

The food was greasy and gross. I didn't know you could ruin French fries. Get your own drink, bus your own table. Skip this dump.

They have 3-4 pulled meats that can come on a sandwich for 5 bucks or add a side for 3 bucks more . I got the pulled Porto sandwich with a side , was like 8 and change . With baked beans which were really good . The sandwich was a bit small and had to get another one . Usually sandwiches like these are over stuffed but these were kind of skimpy for me . Why o needed another one . Dinner then came out to like 13 bucks . And doesn't show it . The pulled pork sandwiches were very good but could have used more meat . They have assorted sauces on the side and if you want a fountain drink , yup it's more . Over all the service was good and the restaurant was empty when I went but the dinner crowd was starting to flow in. Would try it again as I didn't have their ribs . But it's mostly ala cart and no real deals .

I arrived for a fairly late meal (~1:45) so it wasn't super crowded. The parking lot is easy to access. There were a few people eating inside and several carryout orders that occurred during my visit. The inside is adorably decorated in your usual southern bbq joint style -- fun pig memorabilia and whatnot. They have a pretty large selection of bbq and an even larger selection of desserts. In retrospect, I definitely regret not getting a slice of cake or pie to go! I am usually a pulled pork girl, but it is pretty unusual to see smoked pulled chicken -- most places only do half or quarter birds -- and I like pulled chicken a lot, so I ventured out and ordered that! I got the smaller sized plate lunch, which comes with a piece of Texas toast and two sides. I went with curly fries and corn on the cob. Overall, the food was good! The pulled chicken was nice and smoky and the perfect serving size. It was a teeny bit dry but that's typical bbq chicken territory and nothing a good dash of creamy, peppery white bbq sauce couldn't fix. Good sauce! My corn on the cob wasn't super sweet -- probably not quite in season yet -- but it was cooked nicely and very juicy. The fries gave strooooong Arby's vibes such that I think they might actually *be* Arby's fries lol, but there's nothing wrong with that. Especially when they were cooked so fresh and came out hot and crispy! The toast was a lovely buttery companion and my sweet tea was on point. The service here though...THAT gets a 5/5, or really a 10/5 if such a thing were possible. I sometimes feel like southern hospitality is a myth or at least an oversimplification of southern social norms, but at this place it's real and sincere. The woman who took my order -- the owner, I later learned, having purchased the restaurant after years as an employee -- treated me and everyone else who walked in the doors with such warmth, kindness, interest, and attentiveness that it made my entire day. Truly everyone was made to feel so welcome. She catered to some older ladies who came in for a birthday, checked in on me in a nonjudgmental but caring way since I was by myself, and greeted regulars with a smile and by their name. She made the place feel like joy! Definitely give this place a go and enjoy the tasty food and wonderful folks. I'd happily return.

She deserves a commission, because it absolutely worked on us. And honestly, it delivered. Now that I live in Texas, I am becoming quite the barbecue aficionado, working my way through all the regional styles this country has to offer. Tennessee BBQ?? - sign me up! This stop was well worth adding to the list. We were seated quickly and decided to split a combo plate, the Barrelhead (something?). It is exactly what you want from a combo. Brisket, ribs, chicken, cornbread, and two sides. We went with the sweet potato casserole and onion rings. The standout items were the ribs and that sweet potato casserole. The ribs were tender, flavorful, and the kind you keep reaching for even when you are already full. The casserole was rich and comforting, easily one of the best sides on the table. The chopped brisket was a bit on the dry side, and I found myself wishing we had asked for sliced brisket instead. This feels like the kind of place that would happily accommodate that kind of request. The cornbread was just okay, nothing memorable, but not a dealbreaker. Even with 2 of us splitting the plate, we still had leftovers, which is always a win and Wayne the dog who enjoyed them - would give it 2 paws up!. The four of us could not resist trying one of the newer desserts, the peach cobbler with ice cream. It comes out warm in a small cast iron dish, which is always a good sign. I do not know why I keep expecting fresh peaches in these desserts, they are almost always canned, but it did not matter. The dish was completely cleaned out in minutes.
