Ummm all the brisket looked like that.

Ummm all the brisket looked like that. The waitress was good. The slaw was good. The bun was stale and dry. The meat was so fatty and greasy that it was hard to eat.....

We've eaten at the other location before, but this was our first visit to this one. The staff was super friendly, but it was obvious that they were short handed. There also seemed to be a very large party on the back patio. Our food took some time to get to us but it was THE BEST. You will be full and ready for a nap. They were out of the baked potatoes (I wanted a loaded bbq potato), so I just had a bbq sandwich meal and my wife had a brisket meal. It was worth the wait!

Stop at this place on our way out of Manchester. And we were not disappointed by the service and the food. We got the jalapeño cheddar poppers and they were crispy, cheesy and hot inside. The platters were also so good, even the french fries were so good too. We also brought our dogs and they were very welcoming with our dogs and it was warm enough to seat outside.

Ambiance: Coronavirus Edition - quiet. Not a lot of people inside. Five other tables seated. Social distancing for diners in place. Employees not wearing gloves or masks if that's a sticking point for you. Love the interior. Casual. Tables aren't super close to each other. TVs on. Cool bar area. Tables sanitized. Enclosed patio available to dine in as well. Service: great service. Waitress and hostess very pleasant. Waitress knowledgeable about the menu. Menu: everything looked so good. We ended up ordering different meats and sides and sharing. Food: Brisket - a little tough. Came out barely warm. Good flavor though. Pulled pork - yummy. Just yummy. Green beans - as expected. Could use more flavor. Potato salad - pretty good. Not too mustardy. Cole slaw - very, very good. Ranch beans - pretty damn good. Never had them before today. Would order again. Rolls - TO. DIE. FOR. I would come here just for the rolls. Don't judge me. Sweet tea - as expected. Price - totally fair. Check it out. Worth your time. Nice establishment.

    Exactly what I wanted.

When it comes to barbecue, fancy decor usually trues to make up for taste. Praters is exactly what I expect to see when I walk into a good barbecue place: simple setting with a decade's reputation of serving tasty food, quirky/silly signs, and plastic flatware. I ordered a pulled pork plate with Coleslaw and fries. The slaw was very good - like homemade, and the fries were just ok. But the pulled pork was very good. Generous portion of smoke-flavored barbecue. I liked the two custom sauces available at the table, one sweet and one hot. I mixed the two to my liking. Although I didn't want a bun, which is why I ordered the plate, it came with one. Not good. Tough, a little over baked, and I hope it was just because they were at the very end of the night. Another plus: I saw signs for Bud Light and Coors Light, but nothing else so I asked if they had Stella Artois (often available where Bud is served as its owned by the same corporation now). Success! My server brought me a Stella. Praters is a country style diner where families can hang and enjoy a variety of simple dishes.

I arrived for a fairly late meal (~1:45) so it wasn't super crowded. The parking lot is easy to access. There were a few people eating inside and several carryout orders that occurred during my visit. The inside is adorably decorated in your usual southern bbq joint style -- fun pig memorabilia and whatnot. They have a pretty large selection of bbq and an even larger selection of desserts. In retrospect, I definitely regret not getting a slice of cake or pie to go! I am usually a pulled pork girl, but it is pretty unusual to see smoked pulled chicken -- most places only do half or quarter birds -- and I like pulled chicken a lot, so I ventured out and ordered that! I got the smaller sized plate lunch, which comes with a piece of Texas toast and two sides. I went with curly fries and corn on the cob. Overall, the food was good! The pulled chicken was nice and smoky and the perfect serving size. It was a teeny bit dry but that's typical bbq chicken territory and nothing a good dash of creamy, peppery white bbq sauce couldn't fix. Good sauce! My corn on the cob wasn't super sweet -- probably not quite in season yet -- but it was cooked nicely and very juicy. The fries gave strooooong Arby's vibes such that I think they might actually *be* Arby's fries lol, but there's nothing wrong with that. Especially when they were cooked so fresh and came out hot and crispy! The toast was a lovely buttery companion and my sweet tea was on point. The service here though...THAT gets a 5/5, or really a 10/5 if such a thing were possible. I sometimes feel like southern hospitality is a myth or at least an oversimplification of southern social norms, but at this place it's real and sincere. The woman who took my order -- the owner, I later learned, having purchased the restaurant after years as an employee -- treated me and everyone else who walked in the doors with such warmth, kindness, interest, and attentiveness that it made my entire day. Truly everyone was made to feel so welcome. She catered to some older ladies who came in for a birthday, checked in on me in a nonjudgmental but caring way since I was by myself, and greeted regulars with a smile and by their name. She made the place feel like joy! Definitely give this place a go and enjoy the tasty food and wonderful folks. I'd happily return.

She deserves a commission, because it absolutely worked on us. And honestly, it delivered. Now that I live in Texas, I am becoming quite the barbecue aficionado, working my way through all the regional styles this country has to offer. Tennessee BBQ?? - sign me up! This stop was well worth adding to the list. We were seated quickly and decided to split a combo plate, the Barrelhead (something?). It is exactly what you want from a combo. Brisket, ribs, chicken, cornbread, and two sides. We went with the sweet potato casserole and onion rings. The standout items were the ribs and that sweet potato casserole. The ribs were tender, flavorful, and the kind you keep reaching for even when you are already full. The casserole was rich and comforting, easily one of the best sides on the table. The chopped brisket was a bit on the dry side, and I found myself wishing we had asked for sliced brisket instead. This feels like the kind of place that would happily accommodate that kind of request. The cornbread was just okay, nothing memorable, but not a dealbreaker. Even with 2 of us splitting the plate, we still had leftovers, which is always a win and Wayne the dog who enjoyed them - would give it 2 paws up!. The four of us could not resist trying one of the newer desserts, the peach cobbler with ice cream. It comes out warm in a small cast iron dish, which is always a good sign. I do not know why I keep expecting fresh peaches in these desserts, they are almost always canned, but it did not matter. The dish was completely cleaned out in minutes.

I stop everytime I head down south from Nashville, usually working in the side room for half the day so I can avoid rush hour in Nashville. From a beer standpoint, this is one of the top breweries in Tennessee. They are well known nationally, as well. The building is a warehouse looking structure on the outside, but they have nicely decorated the tap room. Ample seating both inside and out and they have bands on some weekends. I have tried the flatbreads, a couple of sandwiches, and the Dinosaur wings (only kidding, but they are the largest chicken wings they can buy, so ample sized). I prefer the wings most of the time - except their rendition of Nashville Hot - but this time opted for a meatball sandwich. If you are trying to be an Italian food afficianado, this might not be in, but the sauce works well with these meatballs and there is ample cheese. As one normally focusing on Keto, adding a fork meant I could eat the kibbles and bits and leave the bun. Two thumbs up. As for the beer, they have some of the best IPAs and I finally tried the porter this go around. Many of their beers are rated above 4.0 on untappd and it is not just a local bump kind of thing. The brewery, as a whole, is 3.92 and also well deserved. To my normal "Will I be back" question, I think the answer is already clear. I do return almost every time I pass by.
