Common John always impresses me. In a small town, this is not just a brewery, but a restaurant and a community hangout. I stop everytime I head down south from Nashville, usually working in the side room for half the day so I can avoid rush hour in Nashville. From a beer standpoint, this is one of the top breweries in Tennessee. They are well known nationally, as well. The building is a warehouse looking structure on the outside, but they have nicely decorated the tap room. Ample seating both inside and out and they have bands on some weekends. I have tried the flatbreads, a couple of sandwiches, and the Dinosaur wings (only kidding, but they are the largest chicken wings they can buy, so ample sized). I prefer the wings most of the time - except their rendition of Nashville Hot - but this time opted for a meatball sandwich. If you are trying to be an Italian food afficianado, this might not be in, but the sauce works well with these meatballs and there is ample cheese. As one normally focusing on Keto, adding a fork meant I could eat the kibbles and bits and leave the bun. Two thumbs up. As for the beer, they have some of the best IPAs and I finally tried the porter this go around. Many of their beers are rated above 4.0 on untappd and it is not just a local bump kind of thing. The brewery, as a whole, is 3.92 and also well deserved. To my normal "Will I be back" question, I think the answer is already clear. I do return almost every time I pass by. read more

We were in the area for a concert at The Caverns and wanted to grab a beer and some food. A google search led us to Common John's and I'm so glad it did! We ordered several types of beers, all of which we liked. They have a nice variety of styles that they brew as well as a few guest taps. You can order food at the counter and we went with the BBQ Chicken Flatbread and I added pineapple (my favorite pizza topping, don't judge me). The flatbread was nice and crispy but thick enough to hold the good amount of cheese and toppings. My husband ordered the Reuben as well as their wings. The bartender suggested he order the wings extra crispy with the sauce on the side - a recommendation that paid off since the wings stayed crispy and were cooked perfectly. The kettle chips that came with the Reuben were surprisingly delicious (usually I'm all about fries) and well seasoned. We also split a soft pretzel which was a great snack. I would definitely recommend the beer cheese which was creamy, mild, and had a nice light beer flavor. They have a lovely patio area and a rather large outdoor space they use to host music and food events. If and when we're in the area again, we will definitely be back! Dog friendly and kid friendly! Stopped here to meet a friend from Chattanooga since it's so close to the exit. Very easy to get to and ample parking. They have so many beers that honestly it's overwhelming but the guy working was helpful and helped me narrow it down. I tried a sour I'd never tried before and really enjoyed it. It was late as we were driving through the area. Our search for decent places was limited by the time of evening. We found Common John on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We pulled up and they had some people outside singing karaoke and enjoying the weather. We went inside to find that it was a counter service restaurant. We scanned the menu which has various items but limited variety. We both ended up picking the reuben. After placing our order, we waited for a short while until it was ready and delivered to us. Normally they give you a pager and you go up to get it. But since we were at the bar area, they brought it to us. Overal, the Reuben was good. Could have used a little more thousand island dressing. We were happy in the preparation as it was not greasy. A good amount of meat and kraut on rye bread. Since we were driving, we didn't get to really enjoy the place as much as others. We were staying down the street from our air b&b when we were in town. We were shocked at how large it was!! They have a ginormous super nice patio with tons of seating. The inside is also large with a bar area and a more dining type area. They also offer food but we didn't have any on this visit. We ordered a couple of flights so that we could try everything. The beers were better than expected...I'm a beer snob so I was honestly pleasantly surprised. My favorite was a banana passionfruit gose called Currruba! I only say mostly, because everyone has their own taste in beers & they cover all the bases here. In true microbrewery fashion there's usually one or two that are new when I come by every couple months. They also have a limited, but very tasty menu. As far as ambiance, they have that NAILED! During our trip to Tennessee for Thanksgiving, we decided to check out Common John brewery. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of beers: Excellent. We tried their IPAs, stouts, browns, and porters and everything was on point. The beer quality was super good and everything tasted fresh and like it was supposed to. Décor: pretty cool. Inside is very modern and there were people from the age of 5 to 75. The outside area had heat lamps and family games like cornhole. Cleanliness: good. The tables and the bathroom was clean. Service: good. The person serving up the beers was very knowledgeable, friendly, and let us sample whatever and however much we wanted before decided on a beer we liked. Price: very reasonable. It was very nice to see beers priced at $6 a pint which is my preferred price point for beers at a brewery. If you're in the mood for some delicious local beers served in a cool brewery that the locals hangout at then checkout Common John. Just off the highway, Common John's Brewing Company sits on a pristine parcel of land perfectly suited for an afternoon lunch & frosty beer! The skeleton mascot is either the very old owner or the longest living / dead customer / zombie around. This place has a very cool ambiance inside & several picnic tables on grass outside. My amazing wife, a true Guinness fan, gets her Guinness poured with the perfect "Hard pour" to create that hydrogenated smoothness, and for me, a cold cup of water to pair with my sandwich. Sandwich??? Oh yes!! If you walk out behind Common John's, there sits a guy in all his bearded glory, hammering out the absolute finest sandwiches I've had in a year, yes, really! The trailer boasts the name: PRESSBOX11, a true sports fan reference, I'm told. We had two and shared them, both earned a 5-Star rating, but mine earned the 5.5 because I'm competitive, and the beard guy said it's grannies favorite, the "Everyday Joe Pesci". It's perfection on a bun, Oscar worthy culinary performance is deserving of an encore in the near future. It's arch rival, the "Tesla Dave" comes with jalapeños to rev up the heat! What a great place to find off the interstate. Wings, kettle chips, Reuben - excellent. The craft beers were an added bonus.

MY FAVORITE PART OF MANCHESTER! My fiancé, pup and I came here while camping at Old Stone Fort Park and we'd drive the hour back just to come here. Got a chance to chat with one of the owners and she was so hospitable- from bringing our dog some water and us and umbrella for shade, to offering local recommendations and giving some of the kids here toys to play with. Love some southern hospitality! The beer is excellent!! All of the ones we tried were great and I just couldn't pick a favorite. They have a large selection of their beers along with some good complimentary brews from some other local spots. We only tried theirs own brews and loved them all!! All of the beer has fun music themed names like "these pink boots were made for walking." (Try this brew!!) They have a great selection of food too. Lots of pizza and sandwich options! There was also a little sandwich truck parked outside that seemed popular. The owner told us they have music weekend nights on their cute outdoor stage, and a beer fest in the fall! Wednesday morning breakfast at about 10 am. The bartender was very attentive and all the staff stopped what they were doing to say hello. This place has a really cool vibe, plenty of parking, lots of seating, very clean, and cool jams in the background. They have a large selection of beers on tap. I had the far from normal imperial stout which was great. We also tried the straight and narrow golden amber both were excellent. Our breakfast included wonderfully fluffy scrambled eggs, tasty bacon, sausage, and fluffy homemade biscuit with gravy. I'm gonna slip into a food coma now.
