Friendly greeting upon entering and told to sit wherever we wanted. There is a nice deck but hubby wanted to enjoy the air conditioning. We each ordered med rare hamburgers with kettle chips. My burger came very rare and they couldn't take it back to cook further. They made me another one which was perfect and tasty. I was given a box to take the first one to our dog . We were driving thru around lunch time. I asked ChatGPT to find me a place that has outdoor seating and on water. It suggested SGR. I don't think we would have found the place on our own. The service and food was good. I would recommend. The only negative is to be sure to look at your bill. We were charged $1.00 for extra ranch for the fried pickles. - we didn't order the extra ranch or receive it. We were also charged an extra $3.00 for the fried okra with the fish tacos. The servers are very nice and friendly here and if you return often, they get to know your order. I usually go there on Wednesday nights because they have the Survey Game that they play for about an hour starting at 7. It's a great time to get together with people and have fun. They also have some good food. I usually end up having their club sandwich or their hamburger steak, but I have been known to grab a grilled cheese (look for it in the kids menu) when I am not feeling that hungry. Sometimes they even have a Buffalo chicken grilled cheese. That's different. I am not a fan of their homemade kettle chips (though I have friends that love them) and prefer to get either fries for $1 more or cheese bites for $3 more. The onion rings are good too, I have just found eating them that late at night is not good for me. Smooth Rapids also is more than just the restaurant. They rent Kayaks and you can even load in on the river right behind the restaurant. They also have a campground and a couple of Airbnb's located by the river. read more

She went directly to her phone and started scrolling, then I had to ask her if I just sit anywhere and she said sure. Another Yelp find! We went to Cumberland Caverns and after wanted lunch. We looked on Yelp and Smooth Rapids had great reviews. We arrived and super cute building reminded us of Montana buildings with wood and metal. Jimmy was our Server and he was excellent. We had a delicious local Ale and ordered food. I had a blue cheese burger it was excellent and my husband had the philly cheese steak and it was good! The sides were fries and onion rings. This place is worth the stop the place is comfortable the food great and the service even better. We will be back! read more

Visited on 6/10/23 as a stop for lunch as we floated from Pepper Branch to the VFW ramp. We arrived about 11 so it was earlyish. Terrific deck vibe and view with very sweet and kind servers. Food was really good. Had a slew of the fried green tomatoes. Not everyone makes those well. Smooth Rapids Grill makes great fried green tomatoes. Like this place. Bet it rocks for dinner. read more
