I signed up for restorative yoga. To be honest, I read the description and it said something along the lines of if you work a lot take this class. I work a lot and sit for a hefty amount of hours... So I signed up. I didn't know what to expect. When I arrived I parked on metered street parking, grabbed my mat and water bottle and made my way inside. I checked in with the front desk and she instructed me to fill out their new visitor form. I did so, and she proceeded to ask me to wait for her. I patiently waited and heard her instruct members to different areas of the studio. I quickly learned there were different classes going on at the same time. This studio has ample space and construction was present which means new improvements are on their way. Once she was done checking in different members, she instructed me to follow her. She took me out of the studio and around by the back patio. She told me to use the spiral stairs to go up and conversed about the restorative class being really great to release stress. It made me feel at ease about my choice. I walked in and another member was already set up so I asked her for her lead. She instructed me to leave my shoes outside. If you're here for the first time yelpers.... I repeat leave your shoes outside. So I proceeded to step up my station. Skip a few steps and Throughout the restorative class you do various poses that are prolonged. I believe they were about 10 minutes each. If you're looking for a meditation and relaxation class. I would recommend the restorative class. Don't come here to burn a sweat because that's not what happens here. Come here to de-stress. I left peaceful and relaxed. I definitely will recommend it to everyone.

Prana Yoga is a cozy homey type of studio. Theres street parking which I easily found and is done with paybyphone. The whole place smells of incense which I loved and the girl at the front was very nice and welcoming. I let her know it was my first time and filled out the typical waiver form. The room my basic class was in was very big with a beautiful setting of candles at the front and a waterfall on the side of the room. Wooden floors and wooden shutters on the windows, I absolutely loved it. Now the class itself basically kicked my butt even if it was a Basic class. I'm not totally new to yoga but I may as well be as it's been a long time and the instructor was helpful with posture and alignment but she didnt push me into uncomfortable positions which I appreciated. I definitely pushed it to my limits and felt the shake in my muscles. The instructor was fun and light and educational on yoga itself so I really enjoyed it. Another awesome studio thanks to ClassPass.

The price for first time student.

At the Yoga Institute, they truly teach you, showing you, often times physical moving you, and giving you the props to make the smallest adjustments to help you find proper alignment. I didn't even try a studio at my new location. Then came the pandemic and she came out with the idea of online classes! I immediately restarted and was so happy to be able to do it. Love to practice at the comfort of my own place without the commuting. The classes online are as great as they used to be in person. Joyce, my instructor is very dedicated and pays attention to every movement we make and correct us accordingly. If I had both choices today, online and in person I would definitely continue to practice online! I'm very grateful for Bobbi's effort to come up with this idea

Buddha Shack isn't a regular yoga studio, it's a cool yoga studio…read more As I traipse around the city using ClassPass, I've now been to Buddha Shack three times. Most recently, I went to Buddha Burn with Jenna on a Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect kind of sweat you want before starting your week. It's intense and fast paced, but the music keeps you going, and she's sure to start and end with plenty of time to stay centered and meditate. I've also tried out Buddha Sculpt which was similar to CorePower, and also went one time where I was the only person there. I was super nervous, but Jenna put me at ease and still ran an awesome private class. The design of this studio is urban and hip, while still being serene. I love the gray walls, wood floor, and Buddha accents. They also excel at nice extra touches like the eucalyptus cold towels at the end, as well as complimentary regular dry towels for when you start sweating (which you will). Parking in the Grove can be a chore sometimes, so give yourself extra time if you're driving in. It's located in the same plaza as the Bookstore in the Grove, a bit hidden behind the plaza's stairs. Afterwards, there are so many perfect spots to grab a bite or coffee! Talk about one perfect day.

Confession: I like yoga a lot I just don't like going to yoga…read more I am very particular when it comes to instructors. When I heard that Jenna was going to be affiliated with Buddha Shack, I was immediately intrigued. I have taken other fitness classes with the Shack's co-founder Jenna and was pretty confident that I'd like her Hip-Hop Buddha Burn class but I was wrong: I didn't "like" Jenna's class, I loved it. The class is challenging with less ohm/chanting and more sweating. The music is so good: playlists feature the likes of J. Cole, Drake, Chance the Rapper along with Coldplay and Bob Marley. The hour long class goes by fast and once I'm sitting up from Savasana I am reminded why I love yoga: I am refocused, happy and calm. Buddha Shack is a beautiful, intimate, very clean, welcoming space. The neon sign above the front desk is my favorite decoration followed closely by the little Yoga Joes (the classic green plastic army men molded into yoga poses). The yoga room itself is heated but not too hot. It is perfectly, dimly lit. There is a mirrored wall but there is also plenty of wall space without mirrors if you prefer to not look at yourself. Things to know before you go: * If you don't own a yoga mat or forgot to bring it, you can rent one at the studio for a minimal fee. You can also purchase water and they have towels (which you will need as you will sweat). * The studio is in the courtyard near Akashi in Coconut Grove, next to a bike shop. * There is plenty of street parking. * Buddha Shack has a bathroom equipped with a shower.

They have incredible classes for all levels from hardcore yogis to beginners. The studio is small with a warm and inviting atmosphere. A staple in Coconut Grove, Dharma is the epitome of a community-minded small business. The teachers are amazing-- super knowledgeable, and friendly. The other students are very respectful. Every class I attend, I feel like I'm surrounded by friends (no judgment here!). In fact, I love taking friends who are new to yoga to the community class here on Friday nights. The proceeds benefit a different local charity every month, and afterwards, we usually get dinner together somewhere on Commodore. There is street parking here all along Commodore and Grand, which can get busy at certain times, but if you're a Grovite like me, there is bicycle parking right across from the studio. The cost of classes is average, and they run deals at different points throughout the year, which are amazing for returning students! Aside from their normal classes, they also run free community classes in Peacock Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a rooftop class at the Mayfair on Saturdays. Love, love, love this studio.

This studio at Bikram Hot Yoga Miami is hugemongeous compared to others i've been to. The instructors are all very friendly and they all have their own way of conducting the class. Some just stand on the platform and go through the whole routine without ever moving. Others like to move around a bit and call you out by name to make sure you're challenging yourself and doing the pose correctly which is sometimes a bit emabrrassing if you're a regular...but like Nicol S. said there is a good mix of people from beginners to more advanced, really young to very mature, fit and a bit on the heavier side, etc.... I believe they do follow in their cliam that says that this yoga is for everyone! PLUS, they have a very cool special for First-Time locals: unlimited classes for $39!!!! which is outstanding considering this yoga practice is not cheap!!! It's very challenging, and feels like torture every time i do it, but it's so worth the health benefits and you feel so proud of yourself after completing 90 minutes of sweet, hot torture as I like to call it! Be prepared to sweat,,,I mean get drenched due to the heater blasting for 90 minutes straight!!! Love it!
