Most recently, I went to Buddha Burn with Jenna on a Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect kind of sweat you want before starting your week. It's intense and fast paced, but the music keeps you going, and she's sure to start and end with plenty of time to stay centered and meditate. I've also tried out Buddha Sculpt which was similar to CorePower, and also went one time where I was the only person there. I was super nervous, but Jenna put me at ease and still ran an awesome private class. The design of this studio is urban and hip, while still being serene. I love the gray walls, wood floor, and Buddha accents. They also excel at nice extra touches like the eucalyptus cold towels at the end, as well as complimentary regular dry towels for when you start sweating (which you will). Parking in the Grove can be a chore sometimes, so give yourself extra time if you're driving in. It's located in the same plaza as the Bookstore in the Grove, a bit hidden behind the plaza's stairs. Afterwards, there are so many perfect spots to grab a bite or coffee! Talk about one perfect day.

When I heard that Jenna was going to be affiliated with Buddha Shack, I was immediately intrigued. I have taken other fitness classes with the Shack's co-founder Jenna and was pretty confident that I'd like her Hip-Hop Buddha Burn class but I was wrong: I didn't "like" Jenna's class, I loved it. The class is challenging with less ohm/chanting and more sweating. The music is so good: playlists feature the likes of J. Cole, Drake, Chance the Rapper along with Coldplay and Bob Marley. The hour long class goes by fast and once I'm sitting up from Savasana I am reminded why I love yoga: I am refocused, happy and calm. Buddha Shack is a beautiful, intimate, very clean, welcoming space. The neon sign above the front desk is my favorite decoration followed closely by the little Yoga Joes (the classic green plastic army men molded into yoga poses). The yoga room itself is heated but not too hot. It is perfectly, dimly lit. There is a mirrored wall but there is also plenty of wall space without mirrors if you prefer to not look at yourself. Things to know before you go: * If you don't own a yoga mat or forgot to bring it, you can rent one at the studio for a minimal fee. You can also purchase water and they have towels (which you will need as you will sweat). * The studio is in the courtyard near Akashi in Coconut Grove, next to a bike shop. * There is plenty of street parking. * Buddha Shack has a bathroom equipped with a shower.

This studio at Bikram Hot Yoga Miami is hugemongeous compared to others i've been to. The instructors are all very friendly and they all have their own way of conducting the class. Some just stand on the platform and go through the whole routine without ever moving. Others like to move around a bit and call you out by name to make sure you're challenging yourself and doing the pose correctly which is sometimes a bit emabrrassing if you're a regular...but like Nicol S. said there is a good mix of people from beginners to more advanced, really young to very mature, fit and a bit on the heavier side, etc.... I believe they do follow in their cliam that says that this yoga is for everyone! PLUS, they have a very cool special for First-Time locals: unlimited classes for $39!!!! which is outstanding considering this yoga practice is not cheap!!! It's very challenging, and feels like torture every time i do it, but it's so worth the health benefits and you feel so proud of yourself after completing 90 minutes of sweet, hot torture as I like to call it! Be prepared to sweat,,,I mean get drenched due to the heater blasting for 90 minutes straight!!! Love it!

The sauna was not on and warming up for my allotted time...instead it took 20 min of the hour session to get to optimal heat setting. Also, the room has windows with shades that were pulled down for privacy BUT there is also a camera in the room so I didn't feel comfortable dropping past my undies...normally it's a birthday suit kinda deal so you can sweat sweat sweat... Bring your own towels (2) one to sit on and one to use for wiping sweat away. The sauna is nice and new with light therapy and several programs like detoxification etc...perfect for sitting but no laying down or stretching out during session. Overall, if I lived closer I would be going to their classes and would use the sauna on a regular basis. Very nice staff.

As a Physical Therapist Assistant I take pride in healing people and in helping them return to their lives and jobs after injuries, but rarely do I get the opportunity of having someone work on me. After hours of conversation I was sure that Tony knew what he was talking about, and O got a great "vibe" from him. I decided to try a group session and was amazed! Tony leads the class in a way that is so easy to follow with options for all levels; he pays particular attention to posture and is able to guide you to an optimal position without being forceful. Nothing like other yoga places I had tried. After the experience in the group setting I wanted to try the Bodywork session, and oh boy was it worth it! Tony was able to address lacks or range that even I, as a trained clinician had missed in my relentless stretching sessions, my lumbar pain caused by a day lifting patients was gone, and I felt as if I had been handed a new body. It was truly the most relaxing experience I have ever had, and I wish I could put into words what the session felt like. It was truly amazing! I have recommended this place to my family and even to my "graduating" patients who seek to maintain the gains made in the clinic and further their connection with their bodies. My dad has been recommending the body work to everyone in our family and getting everyone excited about doing something for their physical health. Last year I hurt my illio-tibial (IT) band badly during a marathon. It's my fault for not incorporating stretches into my workouts so ever since, I have been trying to find new ways to find relief. Pranoga is the second studio I visit this year. I found out about them through a Yelp friend and decided to give it a shot after purchasing the $39 deal for new students, which allows you to attend unlimited classes for 30 days. So far I've found the schedule to be very convenient, the classes are excellent, and the instructors manage to create an awesome flow in the class. Their schedule is available online and you can sign up (or cancel) your classes conveniently. They also offer great packages of all shapes and sizes (you know what I mean $$). The classes are available for every level, but you will definitely be challenged in some ways. For a beginner like me, I feel support from the staff in terms of practicing the art of yoga in a fluid and effective manner.

Life Changing…read more Located on the second floor of a building, it is away from the hustle and bustle of Doral, so from the moment you get out of the car you start feeling a little more "silent." The physical layout of the studio is very simple and clean. A small waiting room and a spacious, wood floor classroom, beautifully painted and with wonderfully regulated temperature. Their website is easy to navigate and you can see who is teaching what class, the times and go ahead and reserve your spot. The class sizes are small ( I think I have seen 10 people max?), so you get a lot of individualized attention. The instructors, however, are the reason you will want to come back.They are patient, motivating and full of wonderful energy. The classes are challenging, even the beginner ones, but you never feel pressured to do more than you can and they really do a wonderful job with the flow and allowing you to progress at your own pace. I had heard about the wonderful effects of yoga, but experiencing it has really changed my perspective. Physically i feel much better. I can touch my toes, my back aches have decreased and I can do all these cool "instagram worthy" poses. Mentally, these classes have given me a haven from my day to day and allowed me (a type A personality) to step back and give myself some love. Definitely a place to try!
