I wasn't aware of their 'up front pricing' contracts when I scheduled them. I thought it would be time and materials. After an hour of discussion and prioritizing, and putting their heads together, Helping Hands offered two eye watering quotes for what they thought they could accomplish in that day from my list for the two sides. I was free to accept or decline them and call someone else if needed. I wasn't expecting that - I expected a bunch of the work done from my list that day, with more on a subsequently scheduled day. I felt a bit blindsided, but needed the work done and didn't have time to call anyone else. The work that was done seemed to be done VERY well. However, they finished one side earlier than anticipated, but too late to start the other, and left at 3:30. Apparently if it's not on the quote, they can't start, won't start anything else. I had soooo many piddly things on my list like changing out the color and checking outlets and switches that could have been started and completed in that extra hour, but they weren't on the quote. I was told they would adjust the price on the quote because they didn't have as many complications as they thought. They adjusted the price, I expressed my concerns and we decided to part ways after the whole experience. So bottom line, if you've got lots of time and money, and you're on the property 24/7 and you want great quality work, call Helping Hands. But if you need to maximize your time with limited funds, and you need a lot of piddly stuff as well as big things done, this might not be the company for you. It wasn't for me.

Nathanial found and corrected so many issues that the previous installer (who was either not an electrician or a terrible one) had made. He made sure our house was safe and took the time to show and explain to us clearly any issues that arose. Nathanial is the best and you can tell how much he cares about his work. I think our house had one of the worst electrical situations possible, and I think it would be rare to find other electricians in the state who could have handled the job as expertly as Nathanial and Scott did. They were quick to respond and scheduled a time to come out and do a walk-through and estimate. The estimate was very reasonable and we scheduled the work. The day of, the technicians showed up about 90 min late, but since I had the entire day off it didn't cause a problem. They worked for approximately 5 hrs to do everything we needed and then clean up. In total we had a bathroom exhaust fan installed and vented, two wall outlets installed, a bedroom light replaced with a ceiling fan, a kitchen light replaced with a ceiling fan and three recessed lights installed in our hallway. The end product was excellent (there was some plaster damage, but this was expected and our plasterer is coming out in a month anyway) and we are very satisfied with their work. I would highly recommend Harmony and we plan to have them back to do some more work in a couple months.

Point of the story is that they could have just scheduled a service call, but they were friendly enough to help me figure out the problem without me needing to wait (and pay the-stupid-tax for an obvious problem that wasn't really a problem - I won't deny it). I was new to Madison last year and so went with All Comfort because the previous owner had used…read morethem. Big mistake. My first indication that they were sleazy was when they wanted to charge me $500 to install a new kitchen faucet (the going rate is about $200). More seriously, a drainage pipe from the upstairs toilet broke, spilling nasty stuff into my dining room. I called All Comfort and they fixed the pipe for several thousand dollars. A few months later the toilet got blocked and I called a different plumber. They showed me that the pipes leading to and from the toilet were not up to code, and the one over the dining room actually didn't belong there at all. They pointed out that All Comfort SHOULD have informed me of the code violations so that I could have had them fixed. Instead,they just pocketed my money and left me with an ongoing problem. Stay away from these dishonest scoundrels.
