From my salesperson, Chris, to the manager, Chris, to the entire installation crew....they all worked together to help me get a new furnace and air conditioner within one day! And I was able to make my flight to my family on time for my grandson's last senior football game and be honored on the field as his grandmother. read more

Their quote was 2.5 times higher than two other local businesses!! Absurdly high! No way was the amount of work I was estimating worth the same às a slightly used car! $9k for what is probably 2-3h work is laughable!!! This makes me wonder what they are charging other people who haven't researched the things they want to the same degree I have. It's almost criminal. Their estimator was very pleasant, though. And their communication is quite good. Maybe that's where the extra $5k is required!!!.... Complete BS read more

I woke up before 6:00 am to my wife saying we have water leaking from under the sink. This is NOT a good start to the day. After pulling everything out and drying it up, we found it was leaking from our garbage disposal. Fortunately, we are members of the Cardinal Care Club, so of course we called Cardinal. I made the call before 7:00 am. Cardinal called me back within the hour. A short time later, I was alerted that a Plumber was on the way. Ken Yager showed up & did a great job! He gave me lots of options and explained different benefits of each. He really knows his stuff. By 9:10 am Ken had completed i still, cleaned up & was on his way. Well done! This is one more reason we are Cardinal Customers and Care Club Members. That isn't going to change anytime soo read more

Called a month in advance for a fall furnace check. Had to reschedule because no one showed up. They don't give a time appt so you basically have to take a whole day off and wait at home. When they do show they're very good. It turns into a very expensive 15 minute furnace check losing a whole day. Very disappointed read more

While attempting to remove my bathroom faucet aerator I broke it off inside the faucet and just did not have the tools to remove it and I have the knack of making things worse so I called Cardinal. I was fully prepared to pay the $109 service call fee to have them take a look. They were able to remove it. Great. He then said the aerator was proprietary to that faucet and he wouldn't be able to find one that fit. And he was going to quote a new faucet and installation, which I was willing to hear. He went to his truck for over a half hour. Came back and gave me his CHEAPEST price for faucet and installation. $2131.10 2100 dollars to install a bathroom faucet!!!! Obviously I said no thanks. I then ended up finding a new aerator at Walmart for 10 bucks (2 in a pack) that fit perfectly. While I understand it may not have been a standard aerator, the fact I was able to find a replacement at Walmart makes me think they should have been able to give me an option other than a $2100 faucet installation. They may have kept me as a customer. read more

Read this before you call Cardinal! Last year I called Cardinal to send a person to repair a tiny leak inside my working 3-year-old boiler. Instead of a repair man, Jerome, a slick salesman showed up and did nothing but go over and over how my boiler was shot. He sent an estimate to replace it for over $15,000. The next day I noticed it wasn't running so I looked at the owner's manual and discovered a switch on the back of the furnace, and it had been turned OFF! I switched it ON and the boiler fired right up. I took a small wrench and tightened the leaking fitting and the leak stopped. Later that year I had a real repair firm do routine maintenance on it and asked for an estimate to replace it just in case. Their estimate was just over $7000. Beware of their steady stream of post cards, emails, and so-called "discounts" and "specials!" read more

Cardinal is known for overpriced services and products. Cardinal gave me a quote for an off-brand air conditioner for $9k, which I did not buy. They then gave me me a quote for a new water heater that seemed high. I got a quote from another plumber for the exact same heater, for 62% LESS! read more

They were very quick to respond. I ended up going with a smaller contractor that was 30% cheaper. A little high pressure for their sale too. read more

Cardinal Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric - Say thanks - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

Set-up an appoointment for today, 07/23/2026, on Monday 07/21/26 thru Yelp. I needed one outdoor spigot to be replaced. She (name unknown) said they can't set a time, just when a person was available. After waiting at my home for 5 hours, I called their office. He (name unknown) said he could not find my name, address or phone #. I Then cancelled Immeadiatley. I would suggest seeking elsewhere for work to be done. read more

Apparently this is known by other plumbers, but Cardinal charges a lot more than common rates. I was quoted $9,000 for a new off-brand air conditioner! And the sales person was expecting I would sign the contract on the spot - I didn't. I was then quoted $4,500 for a new water heater. A local plumber charged me $2,600 for the exact same water heater. Cardinal was charging 69% more. Be sure to shop around before signing anything. read more

Very Expensive Service - Used My Own Breaker and Poor Overall Experience The technician used my own QO 20-Amp Single-Pole Combination AFCI breaker instead of supplying one as part of the job. He also connected an upstairs outlet and a downstairs outlet to the same AFCI circuit. In my opinion, this creates a safety concern because if I ever need to work on the upstairs outlets, I could mistakenly believe all of the upstairs circuits are off when one outlet could still be energized from the downstairs circuit. The pricing was much higher than I expected. I was charged around $600 for moving a light switch only about two feet. I also asked if he could diagnose why my bathroom exhaust fan wasn't working, but I was told it would cost an additional $300 just to inspect it before any repairs were made. In the end, I paid $1,147 for what I felt was a relatively small amount of work. Between the high prices, using my own breaker, and my concerns about the wiring, I was left very disappointed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Cardinal. read more

Their technicians - for the most part - are good. However, their prices are way too high, and their customer service stinks. It takes 5 phone calls to get anything done because all I get is the stupid AI rep who can't solve any problems. I've heard they've been bought out by a national company in the past year, and changed a lot over to AI. I don't think they are locally owned anymore. I'm wondering if they are not hiring people to answer phones (or worse - letting people go) because all I get is the AI rep. read more

We've used Cardinal Heating & Cooling for years, but this past year communication has been frustratingly poor. Scheduling routine maintenance was a challenge -- despite letting them know we'd be out of town, they booked an appointment during that time, didn't notify us, and then claimed we'd missed it. The real trouble came with a recent heat pump repair. After approving an ordered part, we waited over a week with no update, only to find out the part hadn't even been ordered. When the technician finally came, he punctured a main component. Mistakes happen, but waiting six weeks for a replacement left us without heat or AC through October and November. When we called mid-November, we learned the part had been in -- but no one had called us. On the day of the rescheduled repair, Cardinal said the part couldn't be found, then later reversed course and sent the same technician who had caused the damage (despite their assuring us they would send someone with more experience). The receptionist was kind, but the breakdown between technicians, whoever orders & receives parts, and customers was constant. After years as loyal clients, we no longer feel valued -- and we probably will be taking our business elsewhere. Note: We shared our concerns with management who were apologetic and said they would follow up on the communication problem areas. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. They charged double the price for a water heater compared to a competitor. My elderly father had just lost his daughter unexpectedly. It's a shame they took advantage of him. Then, they said he needed to spend over $1,000 for an inducer motor on his furnace. I had another company come & check & they confirmed he did NOT need the part. There wasn't a leak as they claimed. Not a good way to run a business taking advantage of people!!! read more

Cardinal heating and cooling doesn't even deserve a star. They ripped off my girlfriend's father by charging him over $4000 for a water heater, and then claimed that he needed a part replaced on his furnace. After getting a second opinion, it was determined that the furnace was fine. There is no way I would recommend cardinal to anyone. read more

I was in the biannual service check program. Always liked them in the past. My last visit was alarming they red tagged my furnace and said I was getting higher readings of monoxide than normal. I would need a new furnace or a new panel. I got a second opinion and none of that was true. I called to cancelled my service and they asked me why I explained poor service she then replied oh ok. Ever even asked me WHY? read more

I joined the Cardinal club a couple of years ago. My HVAC system was about 12 years old. The first year, I was told the inducer motor needed replacing. It cost me @$800. The second year, it needed a capacitor motor, which was also @800. During the check this fall I was told there was a lot of water leaking in the furnace and the system really should be replaced. The quote they gave me for an Armstrong system was almost $14,000. If I just wanted to try to patch it up, it would be about $3,000, which required a new inducer motor! The technician spent about 30 minutes servicing the furnace and I found out later, he never cleaned inside it and didn't replace any filters. I decided to have another company come and take a look at it. That technician spent 2 hours thoroughly going through the furnace sand found one hose inside that was leaking and was fixed with a couple of clamps. Everything else was fine! Nothing wrong with the inducer motor or the other things that Cardinal said would need replacing! I asked for an estimate to replace the system just in case and the quote they gave me was under $8,000. I feel like the representatives from Cardinal targeted me because I'm a widowed senior citizen. Well, I may be old, but I'm not stupid! My suggestion is to be very wary of anything Cardinal tells you is needed. read more

They offer a lot of services and their technicians are always very well-versed. Courteous and informative.

I had my furnace problem diagnosed by their tech and I also confirmed the fact that the furnace was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. Evan was the tech. Very knowledgeable. Austin stopped by and we figured up a price and after agreeing, Cardinals install crew showed up promptly on the installation date. Jon and crew did an excellent job installing and they were very courteous and clean. Everything works perfectly. Thanks Cardinal....Curtis Erickson read more

Family owned buisness that really cares about their customers. I love how they send a bio of the technican that is coming to your house 15 minutes prior to arrival. We had wonderful HVAC service both emergent and non emergent, but getting the free electrical inspection that they offer has been a joke. Twice they've cancelled the appointment without notification. The first time blaming it on a supposed phone call from my husband cancelling it which was not true, and the second time because there were several call ins from the electricians saying they wouldn't be in that day. The office gal later confirmed it wasn't a call from my husband and that the electricians cancelled the appointment. It seems the free service electrical inspection included in our one year service contract is merely at Cardinals convenience, lest inconveniencing me, the homeowner, who has faithfully stayed home awaiting their arrival. Disappointing. read more

We recently had a toilet that was running, and my husband and I are not good at fixing things ourselves. So we called Cardinal plumbing, and they came out fairly quickly. The gentleman that came out was very nice and professional, and finish the job in about an hour. However, we were charged almost $600 for this . We did not have toilet replaced, just mechanisms inside the toilet. Personally, I feel this is a total rip off. I'm going to try to find a handyman for next time. read more

I just had Cardinal service install a new Armstrong furnace and AC. I, being in sales for 40 years appreciate good customer service. Their friendliness, knowledge, ability was beyond my expectation. Job was completed in less than a day and cleaned up everything so you couldn't even tell they were here. They worked with me through the whole process including rebates. I couldn't be happier. Update 04/19/24---- Talked to the Operations Manager at Cardinal and discussed the issue- received the $$ back for duct cleaning- great follow-up from Cardinal and making it whole!!! Discussed that internally this needs to be approached. ==== After the duct cleaning I was advised by Zach/Brad from Cardinal last week Thursday that a repair of $ 2656.00 was needed or the entire system replaced, since it would just run for another short time. There was an on-line quote I was shown by the duct Cleaning group. They based their quote on pictures send to Cardinal!!!! The Service Tech came out the next day and quoted me a system at $ 6.600.00 and $ 9,900.00 and was "pushed" to get by following Monday the 15th of April 2024, I had a hard time to get him out of the house with this hard sale !! I had a local company come in and check the Lennox system over yesterday and was told that they originally installed the system and nothing was wrong with the system. No components to repair ( $ 2,600.00) or a replacement, I am going to the "Better Business Bureau" and my lawyer right now to see that Cardinal is curbed on this "unlawful" practice to deem my system as defective to repair for $ 2,600.00 or even push a new system on me, since Monday I had numerous follow-ups on phone, text and e-mail to get the new system installed- I call this harassment. I will seek restitution to make sure you stay away from these unlawful business practices read more

Cardinal has been my go to service provider for a couple of years now. Today I got a routine tune up. I still practice Covid safety in my home and I have it written on my service ticket that techs must be masked. I don't mind providing the mask, and sometimes I get push back. All the techs at Cardinal have been wonderful and respectful about masking up in my home. Today Nathan showed up at my door already wearing a mask. He had a very calm presence and I was comfortable with him in my home. He took the time to explain to me what he was doing. read more

I dunno. Guy came to my house today and told my wife my 9 year old furnace wouldn't likely last the winter. I'm calling bulls**t.

Cardinal has been the BEST company I've experienced so far at my house. I've also used Action--they were terrible in comparison. 1st call to Cardinal was in a panic with the sudden loss of AC in a 90 degree day. 5 animals in the home. The person with whom I spoke understood how dangerous of a situation this was and a service person was scheduled that day. 2nd call was for electrical work--not urgent but they happened to be able to squeeze me in on the same day which was probably rare but amazing! Best parts of this experience: 1. Friendly and empathic front team who got me scheduled ASAP. 2. Text prior to the service person's arrival with their pic and some info to help personalize this 'stranger' 3. The service people themselves--extremely competent, focused, and very personable. I only wish they serviced commercial properties so I could have them out to my business! read more

It took the technician 20 minutes to replace the wire and 20 minutes to discuss the job and the fee. The technician advised 3 times that he does not make the prices. For less than one hour's work we were charged $422.00 which included the following: $202.00 attic access fee? $149.00 repair fee. $49.00 trip charge fee $22.00 in taxes We are skeptical of the excess attic fee and will be inquiring with the department of consumer affairs, attorney general, and writing further reviews of such practices. Not to mention insulation is still laying on the floor after the technician left. No clean up! From Craig at Cardinal: I apologize for the poor experience you had with our service yesterday. We are firm believers of upfront pricing and give our customers pricing before we start the work and have it approved so we are sorry if this was not the procedure of the technician. We normally have an attic access charge since it does take more time to diagnose and repair in someone's attic vs in a wide open basement. We also apologize for our tech leaving a mess in your garage area. That is also not a normal procedure of Cardinal's services. I have talked to our accounting department and they will refund the $422.00 payment for our services from yesterday. read more

Yeah, AC went out in the current heatwave. We went out for dinner & came home to 82° inside. We checked with you good Yelpers and found great reviews for Cardinal & gave them a call around 8:00 pm. We got their after hours call service, she asked if we needed a call back that night which we declined, asked her for a call back this morning. They called about 7:50 am & were here & done by 1:00 pm!! Javier was very professional in his analysis & explanation of the needed repair. He had it done in hardly any time. Cardinal inspected our furnace and air conditioning unit. It was determined that we needed both replaced since they were close to 25 years old. Greg from Cardinal came to our home and explained in detail the two brands and different models available. He spent a good deal of time with us explaining the advantages of each brand and model and helped us select the ones that were appropriate for our situation. Two days later Cardinal called to give us a time to select for instillation. The Cardinal people were efficient and the instillation perfect. The cleanup was immaculate.
